Fujifilm X-T100 Firmware 1.20 Released in Addition to Updated Fujifilm X-T3 and Fujifilm X-H1 December Firmware Details

Fujifilm has just released Fujifilm X-T100 firmware update ver. 1.20.

Earlier today Fujifilm also published additional details regarding the Fujifilm X-T3 and Fujifilm X-H1 firmware updates coming in December. Check out all the details here.

The firmware update Ver.1.20 from Ver.1.10 incorporates the following issues – download here.

  1. Performance and stability of the main subject recognition function are improved.
  2. Improvement of the exposure compensation dial response.
  3. Fix of slight defects.

VOTE: Fujifilm X-H2 with 3 way Tilt Screen, Swivel Screen or X-T100 Flippy Screen?

Here on FujiRumors we recently told you that the Fujifilm X-H2 will not come in 2019.

We have looked back at Fujifilm camera replacement history from 2011 to 2018, and the collected data suggest that the Fujifilm X-H2 could be out in first half of 2020, but that’s not a rumor, only a speculation at this point.

With that said, the buzz around the Fujifilm X-H2 is big here in the comments of FujiRumors, and one of the strong debating points is if the Fuji X-H2 should have a flippy screen like the Fujifilm X-T100 or a 3 way tilt screen like the Fujifilm X-T3.

And since the Fuji X-H2 is still pretty far away, it might be a good idea to tell Fujifilm what which screen we prefer, and they might listen to us and deliver what FujiRumors readers desire most.

Now, both screen-philosophies have it’s strenghts and weaknesses:

Flippy screen of X-T100:

  • MAIN PRO: good for vloggers, since they can see themselves while filming. Tilted up and down, LCD is still centered to the camera
  • MAIN CON: tilts in the wrong direction and is not centered to the camera, when camera is used in portrait mode

3 Way Tilt screen of X-T3:

  • MAIN PRO: the 3 way tilt screen is more photography friendly when the camera is used portrait mode. Always centered to the camera
  • MAIN CON: You have to use an external monitor (or camera remote app), if you want to see yourself while recording a video or taking selfies

Swivel screen of GH5:

  • MAIN PRO: When camera is not in use, you can reverse the screen against the body for protection
  • MAIN CON: When tilted in any direction, the screen is never centered to the camera

Photons to Photos Fujifilm X-T100 Dynamic Range Test Results Slightly Worse Than X-Trans Fujifilm X-T3

Photons to Photos sensor tests, show that in terms of dynamic range, Fujifilm’s latest Bayer sensor camera, the Fujifilm X-T100, performs slightly worse than X-Trans cameras like the Fujifilm X-T3 and Fujifilm X-T2.

Fujifilm has just released new firmware updates for Fujifilm X-T100 and X-A5.

Fujifilm X-T100 Firmware Ver.1.10 – download here

  1. Advanced Filters “Rich & Fine” and “Monochrome [NIR]”
    “Rich & Fine” filter is recommended for food and other tabletop photography. It simulates brighter and more vivid colors at the center of the image and adds slight shadow at the four corners to emphasize the subject. “Monochrome [NIR]” simulates Monochrome effect as taken by near-infrared cameras. These modes will allow photographers to add additional artistic flair or film-like color tones to their photos.
  2. SQUARE MODE: The “SQUARE MODE” allows users to switch to 1:1 format with a single flick on the touchscreen. The “SQUARE MODE” enhances compatibility with social media networks where 1:1 format has become the standard image format for posting photos.
  3. Initial setting of ISO is changed to “AUTO” when switching to P, S, A, M, Adv modes.
  4. Improvement of AF accuracy when pressing the shutter button halfway in AF-C mode.
  5. The phenomenon is fixed that the AF frame in the navigation window in the EVF can shift from the set position when enlarging the focus position display.
  6. The phenomenon is fixed that the highlight warning doesn’t appear in the Info display.
  7. Fix of slight defects.

DPReviewTV Entry-Level Mirrorless APS-C Shootout: Fujifilm X-T100 Vs. Sony a6000 Vs. Canon EOS M50

Chris and Jordan from DPReview TV took a look at three entry-level APS-C mirrorless models, the Canon EOS M50, Sony a6000, and Fujifilm X-T100.

Which one is the best for a beginner?

They have split their review in 6 categories plus the overall conclusions.

Despite the Fujifilm X-T100 winning 3 out of 6 categories, it is not their overall favorite camera for beginners, because a lot of these categories are more important to more experienced photographers as opposed to somebody just starting out.

Handling, Design and Aesthetics

  1. Fujifilm X-T100: Looks good, feels good. Triple control dials
  2. Canon EOS M50: Feels more plasticky compared to X-T100. Best swivel and touch screen
  3. Sony a6000: Low resolution Viewfinder. Bad menu. No touch screen

FUJIFILM USA Currently has No Plans to Sell Brown X-E3 and X100F. Fujifilm X-T100 Brown Color in Asia

Back in February, we told you that Fujifilm had plans to launch a brown X100F. And indeed, starting from May, the brown Fujifilm X100F started to appear at stores all over the world.

Then, in June, here on FR we also broke the news about the brown Fujifilm X-E3, which today is available in many markets.

Everybody was expecting these two color configurations to sell soon also in USA, especially since they are available in Canada already, but it seems we were wrong.

According to our sources, Fujifilm USA has currently no plans to sell the brown Fujifilm X100F and brown Fujifilm X-E3 in USA.

If those colors will turn out to be very popular, then Fujifilm USA might decide to introduce them to the US market, too. But at this point, Fujifilm USA is not interested.

Fujifilm X-T100 Colors

Wow, I got some very excited emails this morning, telling me that also the Fujifilm X-T100 is now available in dark silver.

But guys, the dark silver X-T100 is available since May 24, 2018, the day the Fujifilm X-T100 was launched. :)

What you can find, though, is the brown X-T100 here, as spotted and shared with us by FR-reader imagei here. The brown X-T100 is only available in Asia, and it remains to see if it will be sold also in Europe and North America.

Overall Asia seems very color friendly, when it comes to offer Fuji cameras in different vests. We reported yesterday that there is a graphite X-A5 in Asia, and it is available in Europe too.
