Fujifilm X-A5 Added to Top 5 Cameras Under $500 at DPReview

Just announced, and already awarded :)

DPReview added the Fujifilm X-A5 to the Top 5 Cameras under $500. The current Top recommendation is the Canon EOS M100.

They specify, though, that they have not yet fully tested it, so their recommendation might change later on. For now their Pros and Cons are the following:

What we like:

  • Very good Raw image quality expected
  • Hybrid AF system should improve subject tracking
  • Twin control dials
  • Excellent battery life

What we don’t:

  • Poor frame rate in 4K
  • Build a bit plasticky
  • LCD hard to see outdoors

We have shared today already:

Yes, even the X-A5 Catalogue leaked already. And I thought I must dedicate an own article to one specific feature Fujifilm mentions in the X-A5 catalogue: “Multi Focus”, or, as Fujifilm says a mode that “automatically composes multi images to generate a sharp image with deep depth of field.”

In other words: focus stacking in camera!

And yes, I’m with you guys: I demand Kaizen Firmware for all other Fujifilm cameras! :)

Fujifilm X-A5, X-A20 and XC 15-45 announcement at around midnight today New York Time. Don’t miss the FujiRumors Live Blogging.

Fujifilm X-A5 English Catalogue Leaked (Full Specs) + More XC15-45 Images

It’s a never ending leak, and here on FujiRumors you get non stop live real time coverage.

We have already shared:

This time the Fujifilm X-A5 (full specs) as well as the XC15-45 leaked again on an English Catalogue here (3.4 MB PDF file).

I share the part with the specs… for more check out the catalogue. And don’t worry, I have the PDF, so if it gets removed, I will upload the full PDF on my dropbox for download for you.

Also, see the XC15-45 zoomed out on the top of this blog post.

As we told you weeks ago, the XC15-45 is a Power Zoom lens (hence Fujifilm printed PZ on the lens), meaning that by turning the zoom dial, you don’t mechanically zoom, but it’s a zoom-by-wire, so the zoom is powered by the camera.

The announcement of the X-A5, X-A20 and the XC 15-45 is expected to happen within a few hours.

LEAKED: Fujifilm X-A5 and XC 15-45 Images

Fujifilm X-A5 + XC 15-45

These are the first image of the Fujifilm X-A5 and Fujinon XC 15-45 lens.

I already told you they both will be announced on January 31, and of course there will be a FujiRumors Live Blogging. So make sure to follow us on Facebook, RSS-feed and Twitter.

The XC 15-45 image shows that our size leak of the lens was spot on. Also the filter size 52 was already leaked here weeks ago. Oh… and note the “PZ” printed on the front of the XC15-45… guess what it means? Maybe “Power Zoom”, as we told you a few weeks ago? ;)

While the XC15-45 is much closer in size to the XF18mm pancake rather than to the compact XC16-50 zoom, it’s very border line to call it a “pancake zoom“… some FR-readers suggested to call it better a “muffin zoom” ;)

Regarding the X-A5, it seems it has lost the focus mode selector on the front.

Fujifilm X-A5 and XC 15-45mm Pancake Zoom Announcement on January 31

Fujifilm Announcement January 31

Fellow Fujifilm Lovers,

I would like to inform you that Fujifilm is going to announce the long rumored Fujifilm X-A5 and the new XC 15-45mm F3.5-5.6 pancake zoom (more specs here), on January 31 (or 30, depending on your time zone).

Back in September 2017, as usual FujiRumors broke the news about the Fujifilm X-T100, a new entry level camera with Bayer sensor and viewfinder. But so far, no source could tell me the precise announcement date.

I guess that if the X-T100 would come with the X-A5 and XC-15-45 on January 31 or even with the Fujifilm X-H1 on February 15, then I would know it at this stage. However, it’s still very silent, which could mean the announcement is not immediate. Or maybe I’m just missing something… we will soon see.

As usual, you can expect full time and non stop Live Blogging coverage here on FujiRumors.

I know the X-A line is an absolute success in Asia, and in my recent trip to Prague (photos here, here and here), I indeed saw a few Asian people with the X-A2 or X-A3. But personally I’m not so hot on this camera.

Much more interesting is the XC15-45 pancake zoom, which, if its performance is worth of the name “Fujinon”, could become one of my travel lenses of the future. And looking at the poll below, I see I’m not the only one :).

With that said, the XF18-55 remains just an insanely good kit lens, and I doubt that the small pancake XC15-45 will be able to match its image quality.

Let’s wait for January 31 and see :)

In the meantime, make sure to follow us on Facebook, RSS-feed and Twitter, and to click on the little bell icon on the bottom right of your browser, to get instant notification, as soon as I can answer this question.

have a fantastic day,

Fujifilm X-A5 is Coming

Fujifilm X-A5

The Fujifilm X-A line is incredibily popular in Asia, and in some countries, like Thailand, the X-A line sells better than any other digital camera with interchangeable lenses (Canon and Nikon included).

The currently most recent iteration of this camera is the Fujifilm X-A3, announced back in August 25, 2016, with flippy screen and 24 MP ASP-C Bayer sensor with no on sensor phase detection pixels (PDAF).

Now Fujifilm is working on the Fujifilm X-A5. I don’t have the specs now, but would be nice if it would have PDAF.

The X-A5 could also be one of the 2 cameras Fujifilm registered bluetooth for (the first one is the Fujifilm X-E3).

And in case you wonder why the successor of the X-A3 is not called X-A4, keep in mind that this camera is extremely popular in Asia, where the Nr.4 brings bad luck. Just check out “tetraphobia” on wikipedia.

REMINDER: Fujifilm will have an announcement on October 25. The Fujifilm Instax SP-3 square printer will come… and who knows if there will be other surprises ;) .
