Hero Workshops: Perpetual Embrace. Back Beach, New Plymouth, New Zealand. Sometimes you just have to go with the flow. One of the last sunsets of 2016 was hugging the horizon when I made the best of the inevitable. Burying my tripod in the sand against the ebb and flow of the incoming tide I soon found myself pretty drenched. At least the water up north is warmer than in Christchurch :). Shot using a 6-stop Nisi ND filter to show motion in the surf, and a 3-stop soft grad to bring down the top-right corner. My waterproof Sirui W2204 was a huge help as well. Water stays out of the legs and it looks like new after a quick hose down. Fujifilm X-T2 + XF10-24 ISO200, 11mm, f6.4, 1/4s

All we know, is that Fujifilm delayed the release of the XF8-16mm, because they prioritized smaller WR lenses, such as the XF35mmF2, XF23mmF2 and the XF50mmF2… and of course Fujifilm invested a lot of time also in the medium format G-mount system.
But here is an update for you today.
I hear from a source, right in the past, that once Fujifilm completed the current roadmap with the release of the XF80mmF2.8 1:1 Macro later this year, the next X-mount lens to be released will be the Fujinon XF 8-16mm F2.8. But… please take long term rumors always with …. you know what ;)
Stay tuned on FujiRumors…. because apparently rumors never take a rest ;)
It’s done… another Fuji Year is over. I hope I could give you some fun moments in 2016, even though you had to go through a total of 860 articles written in my crappy English ;) .
I’ve tried to give my best, also in my personal email exchange with you (gmail says that I’m now reaching 4,700 emails written in 2016… not counting the easily 1,000+ private messages on Facebook and Twitter).
You can be sure that I’ll put all my passion/fun/excitement (and a lot of time) into this blog also in 2017, in order to make your time here on FujiRumors the most informative & exciting as possible.
A wonderful, healthy and fun 2017 to everybody out there… and may you capture many great moments with your X (or G)-series camera :) Fuji X Forum, Facebook, RSS-feed and Twitter

Top & Flop Blogger Moments
TOP Blogger Moment 2016:
Going to Photokina was, by very far, the highlight of my year. I was undercover, hence 100% anonymous. And I liked it this way. I could watch all the Fujifilm X-photographers, like Kevin Mullins, making their speeches and stage performance, I salivated on the window that protected the GFX, tested out some lenses that I never had the pleasure to play with (like the XF100-400), and I was able to do all this without Fujifilm kicking me out of the booth… wonderful :). And… I have never seen so many X-shooters on one spot, all together, sharing my same passion, with the Fuji X photowalk at the end of the day being the final touch on the top of a wonderful day. I could have stayed there the whole week, but sadly, I had to go back teaching (with some evident difficulties, though ;)).
FLOP Blogger Moment 2016:
When a trusted source informed me the Fujifilm X-T2 will come in early July (and not in June like originally planed), and I had to cancel my trip to Iceland in order to be able to cover properly the announcement as well as the busy time after the announcement. S*it happens. Next time, Iceland :)

TheCameraStore just shared their Big JPEG shootout here. They compare the Pentax K7D, Olympus Pen F, Nikon D500, Canon 80D, Panasonic G85, iPhone 7+, Fujifilm X-T2 with default factory settings.
The goal was just to show how JPEG’s straight out of the box look like and what people tend to find more pleasing.
They took some shots under different conditions, printed them all and let them evaluate by customers, staff members, Pro photographers, amateurs and professional printers.
Some of the results:
Portrait: Winners: 1st Nikon, 2nd Canon, 3rd Pentax. Losers: Panasonic, Olympus, iPhone Landscape: Winners: 1st iPhone, 2nd Panasonic, 3rd Olympus. Losers: Worst of all Sony. A note regarding Fuji and Nikon: they exposed a bit darker out of the box, and therefore people perceived them as muddy. Lab Test: Winners: 1st Sony, 2nd Nikon, 3rd Canon. Losers: iPhone
So you see, a lot of inconsistency between cameras according to the scenarios they were used.
Regarding Fujifilm, TheCameraStore thinks the X-Pro2/T2 does not have the same uniquess as older X-Trans 1/2 cameras have over the competition.
It would be nice to see also how the different film simulations perform in the above mentioned scenarios compared to the dedicated presets of other camera manufacturers. Velvia (for landscapes), Astia (for portraits), Acros (for black and white) and Co…. these film simulations have been specifically designed to get the best results in different areas, and applied to the above scenarios, they might have shown where the famous “Fuji Colors” reputations comes from.
VERY OLD NEWS RELOADAD
XF50mmF2 WR + Fuji Photokina Page
Here on FujiRumors you are used to get the news as soon as it happens, in real-time… and quite often also before it actually happens.
But it can happen, that sometimes someone of you guys might miss a news. That’s why you should check out FujiRumors every day, and you’ll be sure to be first to know about Fuji’s present… and future ;)
So here are two news, that are currently “brand new” according to some, and I keep getting emails about. So I thought it might be time to share it again, so that I won’t get any emails anymore.
Photokina Page
The dedicated Fuji Photokina Page is an old News, shared by Fujifilm on August 25, and also shared on FujiRumors on the very same day. But it seems some might have missed it, since this new page has been launched along with the XF23mmF2 and X-A3. Of course I’ve shared this news in the Live Blogging. But here is the link again.
XF50mmF2 WR
In the X-A3 First Look on Youtube, Fuji Guy Billy mentioned a mysterious XF50mmF2 WR lens. Some people where really surprised by this, and thought Billy just announced a new lens. So time for a short recap: I’ve shared rumors about the 50mmF2 WR back in May here. The lens has the been officially shared in Fuji’s roadmap already back on July 7, Fuji even showed pics about it at an event, and the X-magazine already told us it will come in Spring 2017. So no… Fuji Guy Billy didn’t announce the XF50mmF2.
What’s more interesting, though, is that he mentions the expertise Fujfiilm has in making Medium Format lenses… who knows why ;)

XF100-400 Review at photozone. From the conclusions:
“The Fujinon XF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR impressed me quite a bit – not only in the lab but also in the real life. Honestly I was almost about to purchase the lens from the rental company (but I kept my sanity). The center sharpness is very high throughout the zoom range. The borders/corners are also very sharp between 100 and 300mm. Expect slightly softer corners at 400mm though (but then who cares here). Lateral CAs are not a real issue. Most users will keep image auto-correction activated thus neither distortions nor vignetting are issue in this case. The native characteristic isn’t quite as good here though. The quality of the bokeh is very decent for such a lens – at least technically – but don’t expect wonders regarding the depth-of-field at conventional focus distances.”
