But besides that, there are also rumors about the Fujinon X-T30III coming 2025, so while we don’t know yet if that will come in September too, I’d not be surprised if we would get also the true X-T30 II successor in September (not rumor, just speculation).
However, as we reported here, there is (at least) this camera and this lens scheduled for September announcement, so there are high chances that in Cologne and London you might be able to get your hands on them.
And yet, the main course of the meal at Fujikina is not necessarily the newest gear. There is in fact much more to enjoy, from expert talks, photowalks, live shootings, live talks, meetings with experts, masterclasses, the Magnum exhibition and more.
And it is of course open also to non-Fujifilm shooters.
So whether you’re curious, committed, or just love being surrounded by inspiring photography energy, Fujikina is where you want to be this September.
And in my little journey through this world, that’s exactly what I do: I take pictures of my family, my travels and my daily life to preserve those memories and make sure they don’t fade out too quickly like tears in rain.
Well, it looks like with their latest project, Fujifilm is on the same mission: preserving memory… just on a much larger scale!
In fact, Fujifilm has teamed up with Magnum Photos and MPP (Heritage and Photography Library of Paris) for the project A World in Color, a historic project to digitize the agency’s Paris color library archive, which has remained dormant for decades.
Marine Merindol, Chief Operating Officer at Magnum Photos, writes:
Our commitment to preserving this unique photographic heritage ensures it remains an invaluable resource, honoring the past while inspiring future generations to learn from and build upon this vibrant visual history,
The Fujifilm GFX100 II will be used to digitize a selection of 650,000 color slides, dating from the 1950s to the early 2000s.
Fujifilm is an ideal partner for this project, not only because they have probably the best camera for the job, the medium format Fujifilm GFX100 II, but also because Fujifilm has a vast photographic history and understands the importance of preserving memory and art through photography.
And there is more.
Part of this project is also a series of FUJIKINA events that will take place in Czechia, Italy, Belgium, the UK, France, and Germany, showcasing live exhibitions and talks with Magnum photographers.
The first Fujikina events dedicated to this projects will be:
In 2026, the breadth of the project will expand, moving the focus to the United States.
Just a final word: I already told you that most Fujikina events are not connected to product launches. Well, that will be even more so in 2025, as there will be more Fujikina events than ever, but most of them will be dedicated to this project rather than to new product launches.
You can read more about this project at Magnumphotos here and here.
This will be the first event in which Fujifilm will publicly display the latest Fujifilm X and GFX gear, with the Fujifilm GFX100RF probably being the main course of the meal.
Most of the Fujikina events are standalone events, meaning they are not scheduled close to product launches.
For example, last year we had:
Fujikina Berlin – April 6
Fujikina Manila – April 27
Fujikina Arles – June 18
Fujikina Barcelona – November 17
All these Fujikina events happened several weeks or even months away from any Fujifilm announcement (there were a total of 3 X Summits in 2024).
So, it’s a fact: most Fujikina events are not scheduled in proximity of new product launches.
Fujikina Reports Lack – Why?
The fact that most Fujikina events do not coincide with new product launches is also the main reason why I stopped reporting about Fujikina events.
The reason is simple: I noticed that if I share them on FujiRumors, people assume that new gear will be announced ahead of that Fujikina event.
And since I don’t want to create false hopes or misunderstandings, I only report about Fujikina events that coincide with new gear launches.
I Can Change That
I find it a pity not to report about Fujikina events, even if in most cases they are totally unrelated to new product launches.
So I am considering to change my position and report about future events.
But it has to be clear to all FujiRumors readers: if I report about a Fujikina event, I don’t also mean to say that new gear must be announced around then. On the contrary, in most cases do not expect to see any new gear there.
If that is clear, I will report about all possible Fujikina events again.
Back to Prague
But this time, at the Fujikina in Prague, you can be sure to see brand new gear.
So you can book your spot if you want to be one of the first to touch & try the Fujifilm GFX100RF…. and who knows what else. ;)
Fujifilm has released a video where they finally announce what FujiRumors is telling you since a weeks: there is no Fujifilm X Summit in April, but it will take place on May 24 (as we told you) in Bangkok. Fujikina will take place on May 27 also in Bangkok.
they announce new firmware for XF/GF lenses that reduces focusing noise with certain linear motor AF lenses, smoother aperture operation and improved focus tracking performance during zooming
GFX Grant Challenge program updates
Fujifilm X Summit in Bangkok announced for May 24
Fujikina Bangkok on May 27
FujiRumors has so far rumored two cameras and one lens.
New York City is about to become the center of the Fujifilm world soon.
But I’ve noticed some misunderstandings. So let me clarify.
In the past, Fujifilm called their product launch events “Fujikina” (with reference to the former largest photography fair Photokina). But after Photokina was axed, Fujifilm changed the name for the launch events to “Fujifilm X Summit“.
But suddenly, Fujikina is back. In fact, there will be one on September 10 in New York. So some people thought that this will be the day when Fujifilm will announce new gear.
However, that won’t be the case. The latest and greatest Fujifilm gear will be announced during the X summit on September 8, which will also take place in New York.
Here are the events:
Sep. 8 at 2PM EST – Fujifilm X Summit with new product announcements
Sep. 10 all day – Fujikina with photowalks, stage talks, workshops and more
So, the hottest day will be September 8 at 2PM New York time. The X summit will take place online, new products will be announced, and of course we will stream it live here on FujiRumors.
Then, on September 10, there will the Fujikina, with workshops, photowalks, stage talks and more. We reported about it here with links where you can register for free.
But guys, you don’t have to wait for September 8 or September 10 to have fun, as lots and lots of rumors will drop well before those dates ;)
Samuel shared with he community Fujifilm GFX100 RAW files linking to his google drive here. Damien is actively discussing his first impression of the Fujifilm GFX100 in this post here. Keith has shared the image and 100% crop of the parrot, you can see it in all its glory here.
Want more?
I have downloaded some 600 MP GFX100 TIFF files provided by digitalcameraworld (link below), and opened them in Capture One Pro 12. It’s only when you play around with the GFX100 files, that you understand why this beast is worth the money!
The press event for the Fujifilm GFX100 just started and you can follow it in the live stream video above.
The official announcement with hands-on reviews and samples is scheduled for 02:00 AM New York time (when the press conference ends). FujiRumors will cover the reviews in a dedicated live blog.
