It is time for a dedicated lens roundup… and it’s a rather massive one, that includes third party lenses, and also Fujinon glass.
I am trying to catch up with all the links you guys send me and you ask me to be featured on FujiRumors. I will feature you all, but given the huge demand, it might take some time before I can share you all. Thanks for your patience :)
Here is a little Fujifilm X-H1 roundup for you guys. Lots of reviews and also a new series started by the Fuji Guys, “Trackside”, with a total of 3 videos for now.
Damien Brown was at the Fuji booth at NAB, and shared this video that shows prototypes of the Fujinon GF 1.4x Teleconverter. You can see displayed also a prototypes of the GF 250mmF4.
Here on FujiRumors, we leaked the internal GF lens roadmap (screenshot inlcuded), already back in April 2017. So far it all turned out true. To see what’s left to come, check out this post (18mm and 45mm macro extension tubes included)
And now it’s time for a Fujifilm GFX roundup, as well as a bunch of fantastic images taken by GFX shooters all over the globe and shared at our gigantic Fujifilm GFX facebook group.

I gave my 6yo my old 5d classic for our road trip last week. He took 1200 photos. I think I took almost as many of him with the camera up to his eye. #prouddaddy

The Fujifilm X-A5 is now in stock at several stores.
Some stores have all 3 colors in stock (pink, black, brown), others only a few. Check out the X-A5 at BHphoto, Adorama, AmazonUS and FocusCamera for the updated stock list.
While the Fujifilm X-A20 is just as exciting as the car hood of a Ford Escort, the X-A5 instead is a quite interesting little camera, especially given that it now features phase detection pixels on the 24MP Bayer sensor.
And most of all, the Fujinon XC15-45 muffin zoom is tempting me quite a bit, because especially in combination with my small Fujifilm X-E3, it could become a great solution for travels.
Owner’s Manual
Fujifilm just released the Owner’s Manual for the Fujifilm X-A5 and Fujifilm X-A20. Thanks to the FR-reader for the links :)
More images of the Fujinon XC 15-45 and X-A20 leaked at nokishita.
Down below again the main specs of XC 15-45, X-A5 and X-A20 as well as more images
The size of the X-A10 is identical to the one of the X-A20, so we can make a nice comparison between the XC16-50 and XC15-45. But it’s no surprise, because here on FR we already showed you weeks ago here the exact size of the lens, and the latest leak just confirms it ;)
The Fujinon XC15-45mm f/3.5-5.6 PZ OIS will be bigger than Sony’s Power Zoom solution, the Sony 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6, but I guess that Fujifilm tried to find the sweet spot between compact size and image quality.
There currently about 100 native Fuji X mount lenses out there. And if you don’t mind manual focussing, then actually some of those can be very affordable alternatives to Fujinon X glass. Today I will list 2 of them, the fast Sainsonic Kamlan 50mm f/1.1 and the Meike 85mm Macro lens.
Kamlan 50mm F1.1
alikgriffin reviewed the Kamlan 50mm F1.1. He says amongst the others:
great contrast, beautiful bokeh and very nice color saturation
best image quality when shooting f1.1, stay at least 4-5 feet away from your subject to get past any of the spherical aberrations
really nice lens for black and white photography and street photography
Chromatic aberrations are pretty severe
fairly soft and smeary along the edges and corners
Back in September, Meike announced the 86mmF2.8 1:1.5 Macro lens, an affordable manual focus macro lens and alternative to Fujifilm’s XF60mm and XF80mm. But will it conquire Fuji X shooters heart? It all depends on its performance, and we have a review about it made by Damian Brown on Youtube
Gariz will just released their new Fujifilm X-E3 half case. It’s made out of Italian leather and comes in three colors, black, brown, camel. The bottom is strongly built using four layers of plastic and a metal plate.
The Gariz case for Fujifilm X-E3 is now available at ebayUS here and at [shoplink 63696 ebay]your local ebay here[/shoplink].
Full list of all available Gariz cases for Fujifilm cameras can be found here at ebayUS, at AmazonUS here and at [shoplink 63697 ebay]your local ebay here[/shoplink].
Up to date, the XF90mmF2 and XF16mmF1.4 are considered to be Fujifilm sharpest lenses on the market. But the Fujinon XF80mmF2.8 is going to raise the bar even higher. That’s at least what we can hear at the German ishootyou youtube, where they already had the opportunity to test the lens.
Interesting to note is that they consider the XF80mm to be too sharp for portraits. Really, how can sharpness be a problem? The reviewer compares it to spicy food. If you make your meal too spicy, you don’t get a nice well-balanced organic taste. A too spicy meal distracts your attention from the real taste of the meal to its spiciness only.
Watch it all here (with image samples), but if you are in a hurry now or do not understand German, you know… I’m a kind guy… so I translated the main points for you down below :)
Macro lenses are great allrounders, also for filming, and the XF80mm has great OIS
OIS is so good, that you can shoot Macro handheld. Fujifilm has the best OIS that the reviewer knows of
Extremely Sharp. Maybe even too sharp for portraits
Bokeh on XF90mm is better (round bokeh bolls). On XF80mm it’s has more an egg-form bokeh
The clinical sharpness and not optimal bokeh, make the XF90mm still the better choice for portraits. But it’s excellent for Macro, video and still a flexible tool
The 80mm raises the bar… and one can only look forward to the performance of future XF lenses
And here are a few more XF80mm reivews and hands on.
I get emails from readers linking to this Fujifilm PDF about the Fujifilm Macro extension tubes. I know, we already reported about it back October 12 here :) . The XF 80mm Macro is in the table for MCEX-tubes. With MCEX-16 magnification will be x1.27 at minimal 8cm distance between lens and object.

Checking out the 7Artisans 50mm f:1.1 for Leica M-mount lens at J.L. Williams youtube. In his email to me, J.L. Williams writes: “I also tried it out on my Fuji X-Pro 2 camera and did a brief comparison to the Fuji 56mm f/1.2. One key finding: the lens gives an interesting look, but it doesn’t play nicely with Fuji’s focus assist features in backlit or side-lit conditions…”
A Review-holic X-mount Lens Roundup
Hi all,
my name is Patrick…
… and I have a problem…
… I’m a review-holic.
Just for buying a simple multi-tool like my [shoplink 49081 ebay]Leatherman Juice CS4[/shoplink] I’m able to read reviews for an entire day (or 2) about it.
But things start to get really bad, when I want to buy a new lens. In that case, I spend really many weeks pondering about it, reading and watching reviews until late in the night.
I don’t know why I do that.
Maybe it’s because I always read reviews that say “Fujinon glass is so perfectly awesome“, and something in me tells me “impossible… where is the catch“. It seems like sometimes I’m not really satified in my research, until I find some problems, bugs, downside… something negative.
I went to my therapist for that problem, and he told me that it is normal.
He told me, that since the very beginning of the human existence, the “pessimistic” thinking prevailed over the “optimistic” one: it was a strategy to survive in the wild. Happy people, who didn’t care about anything and run lighthearted through the jungle got eaten by some bear. But those, who remained in the cave, suspicious, pessimistic and overly careful, those guys survived… and we still have a bit of their DNA in us.
This is why it takes me so long to decide to buy a new Fujinon glass… because I spend infinite hours and days suspiciously looking for the “catch“… and it’s pretty damn hard to find one when it comes to Fujinon glass.
My therapist told me I should accept it. I just should enjoy the beautiful and perfect Fujinon glass. And he also recommended me to share the joy of shooting Fuji with other people.
And therefore… here you have it guys, another awesome X-mount lens roundup :)
