SIZE COMPARISON: Fujinon XF70-300mmF4-5.6 vs XF55-200mmF3.5-4.8 vs XF100-400mmF4.5-5.6 vs XC50-230mmF4.5-6.7

One of the most my personal most pleasing surprises of yesterday’s Fujifilm X Summit, was to see the lovely Fujinon XF70-300mmF4-5.6.

It’s compact, it works with both, the 1.4x teleconverter and the 2x teleconverter and it is definitely a lens that I can see becoming a huge hit for Fujifilm.

Fujifilm showed some hands-on images yesterday at the X summit (all visible in our dedicated article), and they also shared some technical sketches.

I couldn’t resit my own curiosity, so I took the technical sketches and used it to compare it to other Fujinon lenses, more specifically to the.

You can see the results above.

Based on the size comparison, I tried to approximately measure the size of the Fujinon XF70-300mm f/4-5.6, and I saw that it is roughly 1.5 cm longer than the Fujinon XF55-200mm f/3.5-4.8.

Hence, according to this calculation, the Fujinon XF70-300mm f/4-5.6 is about 133 mm long.

Also, according calculations made by FR-reader Fujiste, it should have a 72mm filter size.

If you want to see all the hands-on images of the the Fujinon XF70-300mm f/4-5.6 mockups, check out this article here.

Hey guys!

In just a few hours (9AM New York time) Fujifilm will present you all a brand new Fujinon X mount roadmap at the Fujifilm X Summit (which we will live stream here on FujiRumors).

FujiRumors has already leaked all the upcoming lenses for you:

And in fact, we leaked even more than what Fujifilm will tell you, since the Fujinon XF27mmF2.8 WR will not be on the roadmap.

So, please, DO NOT PANIC, when you don’t see the Fujinon XF27mmF2.8 MKII on the roadmap. The new 27 will 100% surely come, and it will come along with the Fujifilm X-E4, which, as we told you yesterday, will be launched in early 2021.

All the other lenses we rumored here on FujiRumors will be added to the roadmap.

Fujicast: Interview With Fujifilm X(100) Series Designer Masazumi Imai

Masazumi Imai, the guy who designed the original Fujifilm X100, and still is one of the head designers at the Fujifilm X series, participated to the latest Fujicast episode.

Masasumi Imai the Head of Design for Fujifilm X Series cameras (and the one who crafted the original X100) talks with Kevin Mullins from Tokyo about how he conceived the ten year old X100, the camera that for many photographers worldwide became their gateway to mirrorless technology.

Fujinon XF Wildlife Photography Lenses Needed, Base ISO 100, Firmware Wishes and More – FR-Readers Wishlist Corner

Here is another roundup of wishlist shared by the FR-community to me via email at fujirumor@gmail.com.

Previous Wishlist Episodes:

Because it touches the wish expressed by Michel, Willy and Kenneth, I invite you to check out also our big Fujinon XF wildlife photography survey and other long telephoto primes articles we have previously shared (list below).

Overall, there seems to be a strong wish by the FR-community for longer primes.

But we know the stellar Fujinon XF200mm f/2.0 did not sell well, and hence it’s obvious that Fujifilm is now a bit reluctant to invest further in long lenses.

But keep in mind, the XF200mmF2.0 comes with a 1.4x teleconverter designed specifically for this lens, which transforms the XF200mmF2 lens basically in a 280mmF2.8 lens. So, with 1 single lens, here is what you get:

  • XF 200mmF2.0 = full frame 280mmF2.8 (f/2.8 DOF equivalent)
  • XF 280mmF2.8 = full frame 420mmF4.2 (f/4.2 DOF equivalent)

If you want to, you can check out our previous “long telephoto primes” related articles.

I also got many wishes regarding future cameras, but since this roundup is already hefty enough, I will share the “camera-wishlist” at a later point.

Cambo ACTAR 19mm Shipping in October also for Fujifilm GFX

When it comes to lens selection, the Fujifilm GFX is expanding at a rate of 2/3 lenses a year, delivering some of industries best lenses.

But so far, Fujifilm has not yet released a tilt-shift lens.

This is even more strange, as back in February 2019 Fujifilm mangers asked us which lenses we would like for the GFX system, and all the options they gave us, was to vote on tilt-shift lenses (see the official Fujifilm survey here).

Now, as you know, Cambo is already offering since a few years not the popular Cambo ACTUS G also for Fujifilm GFX.

But very soon Cambo will also announce the brand Cambo ACTAR 19mm lens, which uses the optical elements of the Nikkor 19mm, which is wide enough to cover the 44×33 medium format GFX sensor and still offers 5 mm of shift.

Delivery will start in October.
