Fujifilm USA New Big X/GFX Deals: Here are My Top 3 Deal Picks and Vote Your Favorites!

Fujifilm USA has just launched huge savings on X/GFX cameras and lenses. You can see the full list of deals here and down below.

But I wanted to highlight 3 deals, that are, in my opinion, the best ones this time around.

  • TOP 1: Fujifilm X-E3 (+bundle options)

Deal Price: $499 for the body / $799 with XF18-55 / $749 with XF23mmF2

As an owner of a lovely X-E3, I can safely say that this is a fantastic camera… IF… you are looking for a really compact interchangeable lens camera system. Sleek and clean design, great performance and frankly just good looking. Don’t buy it if you are left eye dominant (unless you have a Voldemort nose, as Trenton would say), but if you are right eye dominant (like me), then I tell you: this is the camera you want to take with you on travels. Strongest competitor: Fujifilm X-T20.

  • TOP 2: Fujifilm GFX50R with GF 50mm F3.5

Deal Price: GFX50R body $3,499 / GF 50mmF3.5 $499

Maybe some of you might argue that this should be considered the best deal of the Fujifilm Spring Sales. Maybe you are right, but there is a very scientific reason why it has to rank second: FujiRumors is an X-E fanboy ;).

With that said, with the Fujifilm GFX50R you get a relatively compact and high resolution medium format body with a 70% larger sensor than full frame for the same price of a full frame Sony A7rIV. Add to this a little prime lens that is capable of resolving 100+ megapixel images (the GF50mmF3.5) for just $499 and I’d understand if you’d tell me that this is, indeed, the best deal of this round.

  • TOP 3: Fujinon XF200mm f/2

Deal Price: $4,999 (including 1.4x teleconverter)

You know when all the vloggers moaned that there are no “full frame equivalent fast” APS-C lenses“? Well, the Fujinon XF200mmF2 is one of those lenses that made them all happy. And moreover, it performs incredibly well. Matt Granger said it is worth all of its $6,000. But also many others where blown away.

Sure, a lens like this is condemned to be and remain a niche lens. But now, at this price, it’s great value for the money. If you belong to that niche, now it’s a great time to get it.

  • Runner Up: Fujinon XF100-400mm

Deal Price: $1,399

With a hefty $500 rebate, this is a great deal on the longest Fujinon X mount lens you can get.

  • And you?

Do you agree with my list? Let me know and vote the “deal survey” at the bottom of this post.

DPRTV Reviews Fujinon GF45-100mm F4 on Fujifilm GFX100

DPReview TV has published their Fujifilm GF 45-100mm F4 OIS review. Here is what they think about it:

  • basic general purpose everyday professional lens
  • it’s rugged and has OIS
  • it’s like a 35-80mm on full frame
  • Chris would like something wider
  • for landscape he prefers the GF32-64mm
  • the 35-80mm full frame rage however gets into portraiture territory, too
  • but overall there is a lot of crossover between the GF32-64mm and the GF45-100
  • what Fujifilm needs to release is something that goes from 20 to 35mm in full frame terms
[NOTE: FujiRumors leaked an old internal GF lens roadmap, and it showed a GF 20-36mm F3.5-4.5, which would be a 16-30 in full frame]
  • at 100mm he can handhold shots at about 1/30 of a second and still get very good and usable resolution. That’s very impressive
  • build quality feels excellent. Well build high quality lens. The weight is acceptable
  • excellent in containing chromatic aberration. No real chromatic aberration even in high contrast scenes
  • great job in controlling flair issue
  • optically a fantastic lens
  • sunstars are OK, but not great. But that’s classic for zooms
  • bokeh exhibits a little bit of onion rings, maybe a bit harder on the edges of the bokeh balls. Not as much cats eye in the corners wide open as he would have thought he’d get, and completely goes away if stopped down a bit
  • he shot handheld with the Fujifilm GFX100 IBIS, and he got very usable resutls at 1/15 of a second. So Chris is impressed
  • this lens would be awesome also for the Fujifilm GFX50R. It has OIS, and makes it a great walk around lens
  • has linear motor and focus incredibly fast paired with Fujifilm GFX100
  • easily delivers the sharpness you need even on 100 megapixel body
  • very consistent and high sharpness
  • in video, there is a fair amount of focus breathing. But besides breathing, it’s a nice lens for video
  • Chris says it’s still not the most versatile lens for him. He can’t rely just on this lens. He feels he has to take with him some other lens too, like the excellent 23mm prime lens or the 32-64 zoom
  • if you go with larger format zooms, this is a compromise you need to do. You can’t get same focal range easily like you get on a smaller sensor
  • depth of field equivalent of a f/3.2 on full frame. Gives you a lot of nice soft background
  • fantastic general purpose zoom

Laowa 15mm f/4.5 Shift Full Frame Lens on Fujifilm GFX – First Sample Images

Venus Optics will soon launch the Laowa 15mm f/4.5 W-Dreamer shift lens for full frame cameras.

Now we have some sample images and we can give a few more details about how this full frame lens works on the Fujifilm GFX medium format system.

According to a beta tester, the Laowa 15mm f/4.5 W-Dreamer shift lens can be used on Fujifilm GFX, but the ability to shift is limited to ± 7.

Here is his the feedback the Chinese beta tester gave so far:

Although the image field of the shift lens is much larger than the ordinary 135 format lens, if the offset is too large (± 7 or more) on the 44×33 format, it will still have a dark angle

@ 老 frog lens 15-axis image field perfectly covers the 4433 sensor, visually there is 5mm up and down, and 3mm left and right shift amount

@ 老 frog lens 15-axis transfer to Fuji GFX 50R, the picture quality looks pretty good, even if it is an ordinary ultra-wide-angle lens, the perspective is very strong. Blessed 4433 users

EXCLUSIVE: No New Fujifilm GFX Camera Coming in 2020. We have to Wait until 2021 – Trusted Source

Fujifilm GFX

Hey folks!

I have a very important update for you.

I recently got dozen of emails of worried people, who were about to order a Fujifilm GFX 50S/R camera.

The reason?

Everybody thought, that the last mysterious registered camera, the FF190003, would be a GFX camera, and hence they would buy gear that would be about to be replaced.

But after FujiRumors unveiled them all (X-T4, X-T200 and X100V), they proceeded with their order.

With the name of all imminent cameras leaked, everybody came to the logical conclusion, that there are no GFX cameras that are close to releasing.

But I am here today to tell you it is actually worse than that!

Thanks to our trusted sources, I am now able to tell you, that there will NOT be ANY new Fujifilm GFX camera in 2020!

I believe that the Fujifilm GFX has a enormous potential and if developed at a proper pace, could be a fantastic alternative to all other camera systems out there.

By waiting so long with new GFX cameras, the risk is that Fujifilm could miss the boat and lose the momentum that is bringing so many full frame shooters into the GFX system.

But let’s try to see things positive:

  • if you purchase a GFX now, you can be sure you won’t be surprised by any successor in 2020
  • the long wait could mean that Fujifilm does not want to offer a minor MKII upgrade, but something more substantial
  • Fujifilm could free up resources to put into the development of Fujinon GFX lenses

Anyway, in 2020, the Fujifilm GFX camera lineup will still consist in:

So this will be the first year, where we do not get a new Fujifilm GFX camera.
