FUJIFILM Should NOT go FULL FRAME you Say + Advantages of APS-C (and MF)

Specs are Fun, but don’t let them take Control over You: Keep up Watching at the (Photography) World primarily Artistically, rather than Technically

You Don’t Want Full Frame Fujifilm

Here are the results of the poll we launch a few days ago here.

77% of you voted that you don’t want a Full Frame interchangeable line by Fujifilm.

  • 43% don’t want FF at all
  • 19% don’t want FF in MILC, but they would like an FF Fujifilm X200
  • 15% don’t want FF, but a APS-H sensor that is still compatible with existing mount and lenses

So basically for 62% of you there is no need to have FF on Fuji’s MILC lineup, and my impression is that those, who vote for APS-H, care most about compatibility with existing lenses, hence, if APS-H is not possible, they’d rather prefer to keep APS-C than go FF  and invest all over again in a new system.

Only 12% of FR-readers are Pro full frame, whereas other 6% voted for the option to put a FF sensor in the G mount, making the GFX a hybrid system.

So, if Fujifilm listens, than at least here on FR the advice is clear: continue to improve, where you are already the best in the market, APS-C and Medium Format, and avoid the FF slaughter between Canon, Nikon, Sony, Panasonic and maybe even Olympus.

Save $250 on Fujifilm X100F with TCL-X100 II

Fujifilm X100F Deal

Adorama is offering a great deal on the Fujifilm X100F.

In addition to the current official Fujifilm deals, where the X100F is $100 off, they also added the Fujifilm TCL-X100 ver.II on top of it for $150 (save additional $150). This makes a total saving of $250.

You can get the deal here at Adorama.

The TCL-X100 ver.II converts the FF equivalent 35mm lens of the X100F to 50mm.

The TCL-X100 ver.II has the same optical quality of the older TCL-X100, with the only difference that there is a magnet inside the newer version, that allows the camera to automatically detect when the TCL-X100 or WCL-X100 is attached.

However, you do not need to buy the more expensive ver.II converters, since you can attach a cheap 2mm x 1mm magnet by yourself on the old teleconverters. If you want more details, here is explained how to do it.

Please don’t forget to join our Fujifilm X100 group and follow FujiRumors on Facebook, RSS-feed, Instagram, Youtube and Twitter

Thanks to the reader for passing me this information (and I am verifying the second one… hold on a second ;) )

Sainsonic just launched the the Kamlan 28mm f/1.4 Standard Mirrorless Prime Lens for Fujifilm X on Kickstarter.

Currently Sainsonic has the following lenses for Fujifilm X mount to offer:

However, on Kickstarter they revealed also the lens roadmap for 2018, which includes a Kamlan 50mm F1.1 Mark II.

The Kickstarter page for the Kamlan 28mm f/1.4 is very detailed and includes studio lab tests, videos, hands on reviews, comparisons and lots of samples. Make sure to check it out all at Kickstarter here.

Here on FR I will only share a few samples, the main specs and the roadmap.

It’s great to see more and more Chinese companies offering extremely affordable Fuji X mount lenses (such as Mitakon and Laowa), especially since they are definitely stepping up in term of image quality compared to the past.

Fujinon XF 8-16mm F2.8 with New Improved Flare Control

Fujinon XF 8-16mm F2.8

According to a new source, the Fujinon XF 8-16mm F2.8 WR will have a new and improved flare control.

I guess it will probably use the same new “Anti-Reflection Coating” that we will find in the XF 200mm F2, and that will become standard in most of future Fujinon XF lenses.

We could see some mock-ups of the XF8-16 already in the past. I share them for you again here:

The Fujinon XF 8-16 is the most wanted Fujinon lens on FR-readers’ “To Do” list. And all we know officially from Fujifilm, is that it will be out this year.

Behind the X Gear: Meet Markus Klinko, the Fujifilm Photographer who Photographed David Bowie, Beyoncé, Will Smith & More

Many Fujifilm X and GFX shooters earn their bread and butter with Fujifilm cameras, and many of those are also extremely successful in their specific genre.

For example, there are Fujifilm shooters, who won prestigeous awards, such as…

  • some won the world wildlife photography award (story here)
  • some made the cover of the TIME magazine (story here)
  • some won the World Photography Arts&Culture Award 2015 (story here)
  • some won the First Prize of the World Press Photo Category “Stories (stroy here)
  • some made the front page of the Wall Street Journal (story here)
  • Fuji X was good enough for God’s work (story here)
  • some captured America’s most hated man (story here)
  • some distracted a French presidential candidate during his interview (story here)
  • and more…

You also probably know Kevin Mullins, one of the top wedding photographers globally speaking, who shoots exclusively with Fujifilm X series camera.

The list could go on and on (and I apologize for all those I didn’t mention here), but today it’s about Markus Klinko, a photographer, who saw his work displayed at Times Square in New York, who photographed top celebrities like Beyoncé (btw, Beyoncé shoots Fujifilm X100s, as you can see her here) and David Bowie.

Markus is also a good friend of FujiRumors, and he has also contributed with several articles on Fujirumors.com.

Today we have the pleasure to dedicate our “Behind the X gear” episode to our friend Markus Klinko. Enjoy :)

Fujifilm X100F Firmware Details Leaked… and Don’t Panic Regarding the Fujifilm X-T20 Firmware Update

2 days ago here on FujiRumors we broke the news, that 6 Fujifilm cameras will get a firmware update soon. Included in our list was also the Fujifilm X100F.

The day after, nokishita leaked the details of the updates, but the Fujifilm X100F was not included in the list.

Just now, though, nokishita updated the list with the X100F firmware. Here are the details of the update

X100F Firmware Ver.2.10 -due April, 2018
Enlarged and customizable indicators or information
The upgrade allows users to enlarge indicators and information in the viewfinder and/or LCD monitor. This upgrade will also enable users to customize the location of where the information is shown on the display.

The X100F firmware can be considered minor, especially compared to the other upcoming massive updates. But Fujifilm notoriously never covers the X100 line with lots of Kaizen love, even though it was the original X100 to start all the “Kaizen-buzz” back in the days.

But with the growing number of camera models, Fujifilm had to make decisions which cameras they can keep up covering with Kaizen love, and which one not… and the X100 line had to be sacrificed.

If you want to see what the firmware update details of the Fujifilm GFX 50S, X-E3, X-T2, X-Pro2 and X-H1, check out this post.

Also, I notice many X-T20 owners now panic, because the X-T20 is not mentioned in the list. But keep in mind these are only announcements of upcoming firmware updates. And the one for the X-T20 has already been announced (and it’s massive!). That’s why it is not included in the list.

The X-T20 firmware will come, according to Fujifilm, in early April… so it can’t be that long anymore ;)

EPIC LIVE BLOGGING on April 12… stay tuned on FR via Facebook, RSS-feed, Instagram, Youtube and Twitter.

we are going to have fun :)
