Save Big on Tamron 18-300mmF3.5-6.3 and Tamron 150-500mmF5-6.7 for Fujifilm X Mount

It’s time also for Tamron to drop some holiday savings on their Fujifilm X Mount lenses.

First to mention is a $100 rebate on the Tamron 18-300 f/3.5-6.3. You can get it now for $599 instead of $699.

Another deal is on the Tamron 150-500mmF5-6.7 at AmazonUS here, but that one is available only at Amazon for now and only via US retailer Beach Camera located in Edison New Jersey. They sell it for $1,199 here and the regular price at B&H and Adorama is of $1,499. But again, I don’t know that particular retailer. All I can say is that at the moment their rating is 95% positive on Amazon.

New Fujifilm X and GFX Holiday Savings Include Rebate on GFX100S – But is a Successor Really About to Come?

I can see why this speculation is coming up:

  • it’s the first time ever we have a significant rebate the stellar Fujifilm GFX100S
  • traditionally Fujifilm launched its most important cameras between January and March (GFX100S, X100V, X-T4, just to name a few), because that’s the last quarter of the Japanese fiscal year and Fujifilm wants to push sales with its biggest hits before showing up with the final figures in front of investors

Given the two reasons above, the speculations came up that we are likely going to see a Fujifilm GFX100S successor in the next few months, latest by March 2023.

And since I also got this question via email a lot today, here is what I can say so far.

I have received zero rumors about a Fujifilm GFX100S successors.

And not only that.

I have also zero hints, whispers, indications, nothing of nothing at all.

So we have two options now:

  1. the Fujifilm GFX100S successor is Fuji’s best kept secret of all times
  2. we won’t get a GFX100S successor anytime soon and certainly not within March 2023

Not a rumor, but based on 10+ years of rumor blogging, I’d say that in 99,9% of the cases option 2 is the correct one and everybody thinking the GFX100S successor is imminent will be terribly disappointed.

New Fujifilm Patents: Fujinon GF 20-30mmF4, GF 24-50mmF3.5-5.6 and 50-380mmF3.3, 35-280mmF3.3 (Cine Lenses?)

I was debating with myself if I should stop to report about patents at all.

Why?

Because in 10 years of blogging I have shared hundreds of patents on FR, and none has ever seen the light of the day. What I have seen once or twice, is a patent surface only after the real lens had been already announced (making the patent “leak” useless)

The problem?

I notice that when I report about patents, people think this means the patented item will surely come, it’s just a matter of time.

And that’s a problem, because:

So I don’t want to create false hopes by sharing patents, as those are concepts written on paper, and they remain such in 99% of the cases.

On the other hand, this is a rumor site. Those patents exist, even if the products in those patents will never see the light of the day.

So I decided that I will report about patents, but I will put my disclaimers hoping people will read more than just the mere headline.

And today we talk about a couple of GF and probably Cine lens patents surfaced on the web and brought to us thanks to the Japanese website Asobinet here and here.

So let’s look at them one by one below.
