Sony Launches A6600 and some Sweet APS-C Lenses – Now Stop Sleeping Fujifilm and Give us MORE LENSES!

Sony finally did it and released very nice APS-C cameras, the Sony A6600 and the Sony A6100full introduction here.

Before we go on, huge congratz to SonyAlphaRumors! My friend, you nailed it once again! Head over to SAR for full live coverage.

Personally I am very happy about the new Sony cameras, because in the high-end APS-C world, Fujifilm is basically without competition, and Sony is a terrific competitor, that I guess we all very much welcome.

But more than the two new camera bodies, I am particularly happy to see they also announced some interested lenses:

The first one is definitely a Pro lens, and goes right after Fujifilm’s XF16-55mm f/2.8.

The second one is a lens, Fujifilm officially considers to make, and in our huge future lens poll, it makes it into the top 10 of your lens wishes.

With Sony now treating with some fine camera bodies and lenses their APS-C system again, I can only hope that Fujifilm will step on the gas again, too.

In fact, this year, we got only 2 lenses for the X system (and one in the current roadmap for 2020):

Now this 100% confirms what we told you back in 2017, that Fujifilm will release 2/3 lenses for each system (X and GFX) a year.

But now look at the APS-C cameras, Fujifilm released (or will soon release) in 2019:

Now that’s just my opinion, but releasing more cameras than lenses in one year is just wrong.

Fujifilm should focus again on giving us more lenses! And as our recent mega-lens-survey showed, Fuji X shooters definitely have lots of unfulfilled needs there.

So it’s nice to see Sony coming out with some fine APS-C lenses. This might push Fuji to speed up their lens development.

Fujifilm Registered a Third Camera with Code FF190003

Nokishita spotted that Fujifilm has registered a third camera, the FF190003 here.

So we now have a total of 3 registered cameras:

  • FF190001 = ?
  • FF190002 = X-Pro3
  • FF190003 = ?

Usually it needs a few months, for cameras to be announced after they have been registered.

Guys, Photography Gear is Not Real Estate, or Why We Should not Complain that Fujifilm X-H1 costs $299

The Controversial Deal

So Fujifilm just launched a mega deal on the Fujifilm X-H1, where you can get the X-H1 body with vertical grip and 2 spare batteries for $999.

Even better, if you bundle it with the Fujinon XF8-16mmF2.8, you are basically going to pay the X-H1 with grip $299 only, or $499 if you bundle it with XF16-55mmF2.8.

Now, I understand it can be annoying, that our gear loses a lot of value.

But guys, the sooner we stop considering our gear an investment that has to keep most of its value over time, the earlier we’ll start feeling better.

It is inevitable, because…

Fujifilm X-H1 Costs $ 299 Only if Bundled with Lens

There was some confusion yesterday, since the BHphoto system shows different prices for the X-H1 bundles, depending if you add the free accessories to your purchase or not.

So let me clarify for all:

At the time of this posts, at BHphoto you will get the full discount and best price on the X-H1 + lens bundle, ONLY if you add the “accessories kit” to your purchase.
[Update: BHphoto fixed it now and the discount is available also without the free accessories]

Do that, and you will pay:

So the best deal on X-H1, is if you get it with XF 8-16mm f/2.8, since you are going to pay the camera $299 only. But also bundled to the XF16-55mm f/2.8 you’ll pay only $499 for the X-H1.

And then there is the body only, that, including grip and two spare batteries, costs you only $999.

Not Only Fujifilm X-Pro3: One more Fujifilm Camera Coming in 2019? FF190001 Registered

New Fujifilm Camera

Just recently we reported, that Fujifilm registered a camera with the code name FF190002.

We know that the Fujifilm X-Pro3 is coming. But now nokishita spotted a further registration. It’s the FF190001 (see below).

Usually the time span between registration and announcement is about 1 to 4 months, so we can assume that one more Fujifilm camera is coming in 2019, in addition to the Fujifilm X-Pro3.

I know, given the massive rebate on the Fujifilm X-H1 (which can be purchased for as little as $299 if bundled with the XF8-16), there will be the whole internet world saying this is the Fujifilm X-H1S or Fujifilm X-H2.

Guys, listen to me: it’s not an X-H1 successor! 100% sure. Trust me! It is something else ;). And whoever tells you it’s the X-H2, is just clickbaiting you.

It is also not the Fujifilm X100V, since that one will come out sometimes in 2020 only, so that’s definitely too early to be registered already.

  • FF190001 = ?
  • FF190002 = X-Pro3

So, if you buy the X-H1 today, don’t worry about the FF190001 or FF190002 being its successor.

Now that’s a steal. The Fujifilm X-H1 is now sold for $999. And bundled with lenses, you still save up to $1,000, which makes the deal even better!

Here are the deals (add the free accessories kit to BH, to see the full discount):

Fujifilm APS-C Crop is Cr&p and These Images Prove Only Full Frame Delivers – #photosfujicanttake

Tuscany: Look at that terrible Dynamic Range // Dolomites: what a pain those horrible colors // Woman + Kid: that 56/1.2 rendering just destroyed every portrait

Fuji Crop is Crap

How often have we heard influcencers says that Fujifilm is not a professional system, because it is not full frame.

How often have super talented photographers, who hide behind anonymous forum accounts with no portfolio, said that Fujifilm APS-C is not good enough to keep up with their immense talent and creativity.

How often have professional photo reviewers given scientific proof that Fujifilm APS-C can hardly beat an iPhone in terms of image quality.

How often have we heard about how impossible X-Trans files are to edit.

How often have we heard youtubers complaining about the slow manual controls on Fuji cameras, making it impossible to take pictures, because you have to spend half an hour turning dials before pressing the shutter.

And today I will prove, that they were all right!

In the spirit of one of my favorite Fuji blogs, photosfujiscanttake.com, I will list below a series of images, so horrible and painful to the eyes due to the limitations of the APS-C sensor, that you will immediately agree with forum experts, that APS-C is not for Pros.

If you are brave enough, check out the images below.

There is everything wrong, the colors, the dynamic range, the noise, the moments.

Thanks to all members of our gigantic Fujifilm X-T group for providing us these samples.
