Fujinon XF 500mm f/5.6 Full Announcement Set for 2nd Half of 2024 – Possible Teaser at May 16 X Summit?

Some of you mentioned in the comments that you had the NIKKOR 500mm F/5.6 with a Fringer adapter in your cart, ready to purchase.

However, after I shared the rumor about the Fujinon XF 500mm f/5.6 coming in 2024, you changed your plans.

This shows why I strive to be as accurate as possible: your buying decisions are influenced by our rumors, which places a significant responsibility on my shoulders. I’ve learned to handle this pressure by ensuring my information is as precise as it can be.

To clarify further: following my announcement that the Fujinon XF 500mm f/5.6 will be released in 2024, some of you asked if it would be unveiled at the X Summit on May 16.

But according to our sources, the full announcement, including specs and pre-orders, will occur in the second half of 2024.

Now, I don’t know if Fujifilm will add the lens to the roadmap, announce its development, or display mockups on May 16. We will have to wait for the X Summit to find out. But to my knowledge, the comprehensive announcement with full specifications and purchase options is expected in the second half of 2024.

Third Party Lenses (Manual + Autofocus) – How Popular Are They Really? – VOTE NOW (X Mount Edition)

I have recently launched a survey, where I ask you which autofocus X mount lenses you own (Fujinon and Third Party).

But some pointed out that there are also lots of third party manual focus X mount lenses that they own for the X system. Or they adapt AF lenses via smart adapters. Or they have dummy adapters for MF lenses.

Now, your wish was that I’d somehow include those lenses in the survey too.

So I thought we could investigate this with a new survey that includes the following options:

  • Fujinon XF/XC lenses
  • X mount third party autofocus X lenses (from Viltrox, Sigma, Tamron & Co)
  • X mount third party manual focus lenses
  • adapted manual focus lenses
  • adapted autofocus lenses (using smart AF adapters from Fringer & Co)

Tick the boxes in case you own any lens that falls into one of these categories.

I will launch the same survey also for the G mount system, so we can compare the results and see if there are significant differences. I mean, there certainly will be, as there are no third party autofocus lenses for the G mount. And I have the feeling the number of adapted manual focus lenses will be very high compared to the X mount system. But we will be able to compare it later.

Let’s start with the X mount. You’ll find the survey down below.

Nikon F mount to Fujifilm X mount Smart AF Adapter New Features and Coming Soon

Fringer Nikon F to Fujifilm X Smar AF Adapter

Press Release

New feature of Fringer NF-FX adapter: LaCA correction

Fringer NF-FX (Nikon F mount to Fujifilm X mount) smart adapter will be released soon. Today we’d like to introduce an interesting feature of the adapter, i.e. LaCA correction.

LaCA, stands for lateral chromatic aberration, is resulting from a difference of image scale at different wavelength of red, green and blue light. LaCA causes colored fringes at high contrast edges of the image.

When we shoot RAW, LaCA can be easily removed by post processing. However, a key feature of Fujifilm cameras is their film simulation. In other words, we usually use the jpeg files directly out of the camera with few post processing. When using native X mount lenses, there is no problem since Fujifilm cameras will correct all the LaCA automatically. But when using adapted lenses, LaCA become a problem.

Fringer NF-FX has a built-in LaCA correction profile data base for all the lenses that have been tested and optimized (see this list). When shooting jpegs, the adapter will provide the LaCA correction profile of current lens to the camera automatically. The latter will use that profile to correct LaCA when generating jpeg pictures. Finally, user get a jpeg photo directly out of the camera which is LaCA free.

Please see the following example.

Gear Talk Detox Corner: Stunning Selection Images Taken of Fujifilm X Series Gear (Watch it if you LOVE Photography)

From time to time, we should be reminded that light, moment and inspiration matter more than megapixel, specs and AF speed.

I mean, I am the first to admit that I find it also enjoyable to talk about gear here on FujiRumors. It’s just fun, there is no way around it. :)

But the words we speak here, the chats we have, I don’t print them big, frame them, and put them on a wall. I don’t print and frame the specs sheet of the latest camera.

What I do print instead, are the images I am most happy with.

Images impregnated with precious memories, like the first travel I made with what would become my wife in France, or the first time we slept high up on a mountain hut, and we enjoyed the sunrise over the wonderful Dolomite peaks.

Or my first travel in South East Asia, and the all new (and crazy) photographic opportunities that opened up to me there, the encounters and the surprises, the landscape.

I sometimes just need the inspirational kick that stunning work of other fellow X shooters can give me… and if it can be an inspirational kick also for a small number of FujiRumors readers, too, then that’s fine for me, and reason enough to keep these articles coming.

With that said, give it a look down below… and after that, grab your gear and go out shooting… which is what I will do now.

My old dog, my wife, my X gear… a sunny hill nearby… autumn colors… and I might get back with a nice memory captured on my SD-card today, who knows.

So, I am off now… have a wonderful day and weekend.
