About a Forgotten Fujifilm Camera, the Fujifilm X-T6, the Soul of Photography, Rumored Firmware Update and More – Top 10 October Articles

October was a month packed with rumors, thanks to the announcements of the Fujifilm X-T30III and XC13-33mmF3.5-6.3.

But interestingly, it wasn’t the X-T30III news that caught your attention the most.

By far the most-read article was the one about the Fujifilm XF1 — and the lesson Fujifilm had to learn from it. Not even the Fujifilm X-T6 buzz came close.

My (admittedly weird) “sort-of” X-E5 review squeezed into the 10th spot, which is not bad at all. But what you really wanted to read about was my switch to DxO — that one landed in 8th place.

I was also glad to see the “What We Lost When Cameras Got Better” piece reach 7th place. It proves that the FR-community isn’t just here for news and rumors — you also care deeply about the art and soul of photography itself.

Ricoh GR IV Monochrome Camera Development Announced

Ricoh GR Goes Monochrome

Back in 2024 I told you that Ricoh would announce the Ricoh GR IV monochrome in 2025.

The rumor was instantly declared a fake clickbait by the “rest of the internet” (as you pointed out). But it looks like it was not a fake – so huge thanks to our source for sharing, once again, accurate information with us.

In fact, Ricoh just announced the Ricoh GRIV monochrome development, with shipping possibly still in 2025, just as our sources told us.

Also the Ricoh GR IV HDF (high diffusion filter) has been announced, but unlike the Monochrome version, which is a first for the Ricoh GR series, the Ricoh GR HDF version already existed in previous iterations of this line.

Here on FujiRumors wer are very strong supporters of a monochrome Fujifilm camera.

I’m confident the new Ricoh GR IV Monochrome will be a huge success. It’s a pity that Fujifilm doesn’t seem to recognize the enormous potential a monochrome Fujifilm camera could have.

About My Fujifilm X-E5, Therapy Sessions, and the Art of Letting Go!

Yes guys, I own the Fujifilm X-E5.

And many have already reached out to me asking why I haven’t reviewed it yet on FujiRumors or if I ever will share a review about it.

Well, I’ll tell you below why I don’t think it makes sense to review it.

But if you want my opinion, let me share the three main problems I encountered with the X-E5.

Problem 1.

I needed half a day to convince my Fujifilm X-E3 to let go of the XF27mmF2.8 R WR — her lifelong companion.

After a complex psychotherapy session (yes, we talked it through), I gently explained that sometimes we just have to let go and move on. Sometimes growth requires change. And if she truly loved the XF27mmF2.8, she’d set it free — let it explore new resolutions, new autofocus algorithms, new X-Trans relationships that would help it grow in ways she never could if always stuck on the X-E4

Problem 2.

The Fujifilm X-E5 looks so perfect — clean lines, flawless build, an aura of quiet confidence — I was honestly terrified to scratch it. It felt like holding a piece of art instead of a camera.

But then my X-E3 gave me a therapy session. She reminded me that the marks we carry are proof of a fully life lived. She said: “you can’t protect your X-E5 from scratches without also protecting yourself from the joy of using it“.

I knew my Fujifilm X-E3 stole that line from one of the best books I’ve ever read, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer, in which Jonathan wrote “you cannot protect yourself from sadness without protecting yourself from happiness“. But I somehow forgot about it, and it is nice that my X-E3 reminded me of that.

Problem 3.

Problem 3 required a group therapy session with a secret Fujifilm community — a place where we meet only to discuss and cry about the nonsense things Fujifilm does.

You’ll find people there who still haven’t emotionally recovered from last year’s autofocus firmware fiasco (finally fixed after months of collective suffering). Others are still clinging to hope for an X-Pro4 or X80, wondering why on earth Fujifilm poured tons of R&D into “GFX Eterna” instead. Then there are those waiting since 65 months for their pre-ordered Fujifilm X100VI and even a special support circle for those permanently traumatized by years of using the old Fujifilm Camera Remote app. We’ve all endured our share of pain.

My personal breaking point? Discovering that my new favorite EVF display setting — the “Classic Display Mode” — had simply vanished. Gone. For hours I frantically searched menus, reset settings, questioned reality. Nothing.

Only through the combined wisdom of the Fujifilm group did we uncover the truth: if you enable “Semi-Transparent” in the “Surround View Mode”, the Classic Display Mode disappears.

Why? No idea.

Some things in life just defy logic… and this is one of them.

So Why No Review?

It makes no sense to review perfection. ;)

Or as a fellow Fujifilm brother wrote in his Amazon X-E5 review, it deserves six out of five stars. I couldn’t have said it better myself — that’s exactly my rating, too.

So I’ll leave the formal reviews to those who make a living dissecting specs and pixel-peeping at 300%.

Honestly, I haven’t even watched a single X-E5 review since I own it. I couldn’t care less. Whether people praise it or tear it apart doesn’t matter to me. I own it. I love it. And that’s my review.

A Look into 2025 Fujifilm Rumors (and Beyond) and the Ultimate 2024 Rumor Check

Rumor 2025+ Overview with Rating

Time to check how accurate our rumors were in 2024 and get an outlook on the remaining rumors for 2025 (and beyond) with reliability ranking.

As usual, I will be brutal and merciless in my rumor accuracy rating.

How brutal?

Well, here are two examples.

I told you the X100VI would be basically same in size of X100V despite having IBIS. The difference is 1mm. Well, turns out it is 2mm thicker. So while it is substantially an accurate rumor, I list it as wrong.

Also, we misunderstood a source regarding the X100VI silver color. We needed only 3 hours to clarify this misunderstanding and correct it. But still, for 3 hours only, an inaccurate info was online.

WIth that said, here is how things went:

  • 99 rumors shared in 2024
  • 24 rumors still to be verified
  • 72 correct rumors out of 75 verifiable rumors
  • 3 wrong rumors (normal people would say 1 wrong rumor -not about Fujifilm-, but I am brutal to myself)
  • 96% correct rumors

The Remainng Rumors for 2025 and Beyond

HIGH RATING*
* 75% to 99% correct

Did FujiRumors get it right?

I am surprised to see such a high interest for the Fujifilm X-M5.

A bit less surprising is to see film simulation content on the top of the ranking, especially with Classic Cuban Neg, which has quickly become a Fujifilm users favorite.

This article of 2022 still gets great views, too.

I hope you enjoyed checking out FujiRumors in 2024. And if you want, stick around also in 2025, because I have the feeling it could be a very interesting year.

Love you guys!

Surprise: Fujifilm X-M5 to be Launched in Second Half of 2024

We told you that Fujifilm will revive a camera line in 2024.

I guess most of us hoped for the Fujifilm X70 successor, hence the Fujifilm X80.

But that won’t be the case.

According to our trusted sources, Fujifilm will launch the Fujifilm X-M5 in the second half of 2024.

A while back I wrote an article about the top 10 flop cameras of Fujifilm and the original Fujifilm X-M1 made it into that list.

I explained why the Fujifilm X-M1 failed (despite being the better camera over the Fujifilm X-A1) and which lessons Fujifilm should learned from that failure.

Let’s hope that this time they will do things right and give the Fujifilm X-M line the success it deserves.

And of course, feel free to let us know in the comments how you’d like the Fujifilm X-M5 to be.

A Glimpse Into the Fujifilm Future: X-Pro4, X-E5, Digital XPan, Future XF Lenses (and More) plus 2024 Rumor Check so Far

After the Rumor Storm (and Before the Next One)

So we had 2 X summits so far in 2024 and lots of gear has been announced.

This means we also had lots of rumors about every single one of these items.

But…

A lot more rumors dropped also about gear coming well beyond that.

So, time for the great mid-2024 rumor recap and to rank for you all rumors according to their reliability.

1 millimetre and 3 hours to perfection ;)
