NOTE: As you will see in the thread, I’ve shared a sample taken recently with my X-T1 + 35/1.4, where I recreate the same issue. I actually do not consider it an issue (at least on my X-T1) because it hardly ever occurs (even if I try hard to re-create it appositely), and if it occurs, I can make the artifacts disappear by very slightly changing the angle. Moreover, I hear about the same issue occuring with other mirrorless camera brands. It might be an issue more or less common to many mirrorless cameras, due to the reflection of the light hitting the sensor on the rear element of the lens.
My Personal Conclusion: For me, this has absolutely no influence on my real life shooting. And if you check out the images below, you will see X-T2 backlit images taken with no artifacts at all. So personally I do not care about this. And how rare this issue is, is proven by the fact, that in all these years, nobody ever complaint about grid artifacts on the X-T1… at least until today… ;)

Fujifilm has big plans apparently, since they just chose to launch a Photo Event in Kyoto with the important name “FujiKina 2017” (in reference to the biggest photography show in the world, the Photokina in Cologne).

Participants will also have the opportunity to Touch & Try the latest and greatest Fujifilm gear.

Of course it’s just a coincidence, that the event starts 2 days after this ;)

Fujifilm Corporation (President: Kenji Ueno) will hold “FUJIKINA 2017 Kyoto” for two days on Saturday, January 21, 201 (Sunday), 2017.

Fujifilm 2017: Massive Rumors Coming
… and how you won’t miss them (New Options!)

I hear whispers… secrets, too fragile to be unveiled at this stage. But whisper can become rumors, and rumors can become facts… and when the moment comes, I will take you with me into the deepest secrets of the Fujifilm rabbit hole. I hope somebody out there will follow me in this journey… and if you do, well, then we are going to have fun! :-)

All I can anticipate now, is that the Fuji year 2016 was great for sure… but you will also love to see what hits the market in 2017 ♥. Fujifilm X100F, GFX and X-T20 as well as new lenses… and, who knows… maybe some surprises. And I’m sure of one thing: even the last folks out there, who ignored Fujifilm so far, will hear the name of the cameras we’ve learned to love so much :-)

So it will be very busy in the next few months over here… and as usual, it’s easy to miss the news, when I will share multiple posts a day. But with a few simple steps, you can make sure not to miss anything. So feel free to…

So, Photokina is over. The most important announcements have been done. So it’s high time to put some order in the remaining rumors.

But first some facts:

• 650+ blog post published in 2016 so far
• 101 rumors shared in 2016
• 13 rumors still to be verified
• 81 correct rumors (+1 one more correct, but not in ranking. Read why at the bottom of this post)
• 8 wrong rumors (but actually at least 4 of them were right at the time of sharing. It’s just Fuji that changed plans… that’s the risk I pay for sharing early rumors, and I accept that)
• 91% correct rumors shared so far in 2016 (and it would be at least 95+%, if Fuji wouldn’t have changed plans on some long term rumors)

And now… what to expect next!

I don’t think Fujifilm will launch much more in 2016… but surprises are always possible. If I hear anything, I’ll let you know.

In 2017 we should see the X100F and the X-T20. And of course the Medium Format Fujifilm GFX will hit the market. It’s also rumored that Profoto will add flash support for X-series cameras. And maybe, so my hope (but not a rumor), after some small and compact weather sealed lenses (35, 23, 50, 80), Fujifilm will also work again on the long rumored 8-16, 33/1 and 200. NOTE: the 33/1 and 200 were rumored in 2015, so they are not included in the 2016 overview.

Sounds already now like a very interesting 2017… and I’m confident Fujifilm will surprise us with something more. Stay tuned on FujiRumors to find it out.

TRAVEL TRIPOD: There are many options, and the choice is not easy. How much should you pay for it?

If you are not that kind of guy, who worries about gear getting stolen, then just grab the ultimate travel tripod, the Gitzo Carbon Travel Tripod… build to last forever. But there are cheaper options, that still do their job just fine.

BHphoto has an excellent overview on Travel Tipods here. I’ll list the best option (Gitzo) and a more affordable one (Manfrotto). I personally use the Sirui T-025x and I consider it fantastic value for the money. Feel Free to add your own suggestion in the comments.
