Fujifilm X-Pro3 Coming in 2019 – Trusted Source

Fujifilm X-Pro3

According to our trusted sources, the Fujifilm X-Pro3 will come in 2019.

I have no specs for now, but it is safe to assume (personal guess), that it will feature the same sensor and processor of the Fujifilm X-T3.

  • fujirumors –  Fujifilm X-Pro3 Concepts and Share Your X-Pro3 Wish List (includes survey)
  • fujirumors – What to Expect from Fujifilm X-Pro3 (includes another survey)

When exaclty will the Fuji X-Pro3 come?

Well, we have already analyzed the complete Fujifilm X cameras refreshment rate, and if Fujifilm would keep the usual product cycle, the X-Pro3 should be out in January 2020.

Today’s rumor, though, suggest that Fujifilm anticipates the release of the X-Pro2 successor. My personal guess (NOT RUMOR) is that this will happen towards the end of 2019, hence being very close to the January 2020 date.

But to be clear, I have no time indication, which could mean the Fujifilm X-Pro3 could be annouced anytime in 2019. I will let you you know more details as soon as I can.

Fujifilm X-Pro3 (and Fujifilm X200?) Coming in 2019 According to Techradar

Fujifilm 2019 Techradar Predictions

According to techradar predictions, the Fujifilm X-Pro3 will come in 2019. And they seem pretty confident about that, since they write here:

We’ve pooled together what we know for sure with our predictions for the next twelve months.”

Less likely, but also a possibility according to techradar is the Fujifilm X100F successor (may it be called Fujifilm X200 or Fuji X100V or anything else).

If techradar is accurate, this means that Fujifilm changed their usual camera-refresh cycle, and that they will not skip one sensor/processor generation with the Fujifilm X-Pro3, as they did with the X-Pro2.

Here on FujiRumors we have already shared Fujifilm X-Pro3 concepts and wish lists.

Oh, and did you know that the Fujfiilm X-T30 is just around the corner? ;)

Fujifilm X Camera Replacement Timeline from 2011 to 2018 and What This Could Mean for X-H2, X-T4, X-T30, X-Pro3, X-E4, X200

Fujifilm Timeline

Today I decided to take a look at the refresh rate of the top/mid range Fujifilm cameras and tried to make a guess (NOT A RUMOR) about when the Fujifilm X-H2, Fujifilm X-Pro3, Fujifilm X-E4, Fujifilm X-T4, Fujifilm X-T30 and Fujifilm X200 (or X100V) can be expected.

Overall we can see how the Fujifilm X-E and X-Pro line are gravitating towards a 4 years refresh time, whereas X-T and X100 line are close to a 2 years refresh time.

WARNING

  • This is not based on rumors, and it’s not said that Fujifilm will always keep the same product refresh rate. Everything can change anytime.
  • Don’t miss the upcoming rumors and join us on Facebook, RSS-feed, Instagram, Youtube and Twitter

NOT INCLUDED:

  1. All 2/3 sensor cameras are not included, since the won’t ever get any successor (not even 1 inch sensor cameras, no matter what old patents say)
  2. X70/XF10: XF10 is not the X70 successor. It’s unclear if there will be a Fujifilm X80 at some point
  3. X-A line has a high refresh rate, but the FR community is for the most part not interested in this camera line
  4. GFX 50S, GFX 100S, GFX 50R: According to our rumors, the GFX 100 comes 2 years and 3 months after the GFX 50S. It’s unclear if the Fuji GFX 50R will also get a 2 year refresh rate or a 4 year refresh rate like its rangefinder brothers the X-Pro and X-E

Fujifilm X-Pro3 Concepts and Share Your X-Pro3 Wish List

Fujifilm X-Pro2 concept developed by Fujifilm and shared at senzo.co

Fujifilm X-Pro3

One of the top questions I got after the announcement of the Fujifilm X-T3, is when the Fujifilm X-Pro3 will come.

Well guys, in the Fuji world, rangefinder cameras like the Fujifilm X-Pro and X-E line, do not sell nearly as well as their SLR-like brothers, such as the X-T20 or the new X-T3.

Hence, Fujifilm is never in a hurry to release new iterations of those cameras. The Fujifilm X-Pro line for example even skipped the X-Trans II generation, and went from X-Trans I directly to X-Trans III.

And so far I have not heard anything reliable about the Fujifilm X-Pro3.

So all we can do for now, is imagine how we would like the Fujifilm X-Pro3 to be.

X-Pro3 Design

A FR-reader send me this Flickr link, where H.B. Kang imagines an X-Pro3 with vertical grip and new colors.

So I thought, why not, let’s talk Fujifilm X-Pro3 and start dreaming how it should be.

In addition to Kang’s X-Pro3, I will add down below some real Fujifilm X-Pro2 (and X-Pro1s) concept that Fujifilm studied during the X-Pro2 development. We have already shown them in this FujiRumors post, and you can find more images at senzo.co here.

I will start by launching a poll, where you can vote the top 3 features you’d like to see on the Fujifilm X-Pro3. Vote, and then let your imagination soar free in the comments.

NOTE: I mention the additional dials of the Olmypus PEN F in the poll. If you don’t know how it looks like check it out the images at BHphoto.

For the Fujifilm X-Pro3, I want... (max. 3 selections)

Sony Tricked You: The Sony A7V Does Not Match the Fujifilm GFX100II in Dynamic Range – UPDATED

The Sony Trick

UPDATES: Bill Claff made an error an apologised. Here are the true results and findings

Original Article:

Photons to Photos has published their dynamic range measurements for the Sony A7V.

As soon as the chart dropped, several Fujifilm GFX shooters in our group started wondering: is it time to ditch the GFX100 series and move to Sony?

Why the sudden doubt?

Because at low ISO values, the Sony A7V appears to match the Fujifilm GFX100II in dynamic range — at least according to the Photons to Photos graph here.

But there’s a trick. 😉

As Bill Claff (the mind behind Photons to Photos) explained over on DPReview here:

Note the triangles point down which indicated Noise Reduction (NR) baked into the raw files.

Also note, no Dual Conversion Gain (DCG) was detected.

Noise Reduction (NR) makes comparisons less reliable. Unfortunately it’s hard to gauge how much of an impact NR has on the results. Note there’s even stronger NR at the very high ISO settings.

That’s why the GFX100II shows simple dots, while the Sony A7V shows downward arrows: those arrows are a warning that NR is being applied to Sony’s RAW data — meaning the “true,” NR-free performance would be worse.

The real question now becomes: how strong is Sony’s NR, and how would the A7V fare against a GFX100II if both had the same amount of noise reduction?

Also a pity there is no dual gain conversion on the Sony A7V, because that helps to improve ISO performance at higher ISO. All modern (and even older) Fujifilm cameras have dual gain. This explains why the GFX100II jumps ahead to the Sony A7V at some point – even if the Sony is agressive with noise reduction – because dual gain kicks in on the GFX100II.

UPDATE: Bill Claff says “There will be ES results shortly at PhotonsToPhotos.net. And it does look like there’s High Conversion Gain (HCG) at ISO 1000 that is obscured by the NR with Mechanical shutter.”

The Fuji Trick

And because here on FujiRumors we take pride in being 100% honest and bias-free, let’s remember something before anyone starts yelling “SONY IS CHEATING!”

Fujifilm has played its own tricks, too.

With the Fujifilm X-Pro3, Fujifilm used a different method to make the camera appear to have better dynamic range than it actually did. And yes — we called it out immediately when the results came out.

So… hopefully this little reminder will help prevent the incoming sh*tstorm from Sony fanboys in the comments. 😉

10 Fujifilm Cameras Meet for Thanksgiving Dinner and This is What Happened Next

Thanksgiving is here, and while most families argue over who burned the stuffing, we in the Fujifilm community know the real drama happens when our cameras show up to dinner. If each Fujifilm camera were a guest, here’s what they’d bring to the table — literally.

X-T5
Arrives with a fully homemade meal, proudly reminding everyone that every single step was done manually — even the gravy. Keeps adjusting the dinner table “for composition”.

GFX100S II
Brings a turkey so gigantic the table collapses. Says it’s “just a casual medium-format bird”. Everyone pretends they’re not intimidated.

X-Pro3
Brings a gourmet dish but serves it face-down, so nobody can actually see it. “Stop chimping through the dishes. Focus on the Thanksgiving experience first, not the results” it insists, refusing to flip the plate over. Spends the whole evening fully present and savoring every moment.

X-S20
Shows up quietly with store-bought mashed potatoes, super humble, not bragging about anything. Yet all the other cameras side-eye it because it secretly carries features no one else has — like that fully automatic subject-detection mode that does all the work while pretending it’s “nothing special.

X-E5
Arrives with a small, perfectly curated dish — nothing fancy, but stylish enough that everyone compliments it. Quietly slips into a seat, looking effortlessly cool without even trying.

X-M5
Shows up with a perfectly plated appetizer, but keeps looking around the table like it’s lost. No EVF to guide it, so it improvises — and somehow, every shot still turns out amazing anyway.

X70
Shows up quietly without being invited… mostly because everyone forgot it even existed. Brings a tiny but absolutely delicious dish that makes everyone wonder, “Wait, why did Fujifilm never make another one of you?” Then it slips away before anyone can ask for the recipe.

X-H2S
Arrives with a towering trifle that’s already collapsing, fruit spilling everywhere, and layers sliding off the plate. Immediately realizes it’s still running last year’s flawed firmware, apologizes to the group, and rushes off to the kitchen to install the update — promising to return once everything is perfectly stabilized — it’s still there, struggling to connect to the smartphone app to finally install the update.

X100VI
Was supposed to bring artisanal cranberry sauce, but got kidnapped by scalpers as soon as it left home. Never made it to the dinner, leaving everyone scrolling online, refreshing for a glimpse of it. It was later spotted on eBay, held hostage with a wildly overpriced ransom for release.

X-T6
And then, totally surprising to anyone, a guest from the future shows up of nowhere: the Fujifilm X-T6! It brings a futuristic dish nobody’s ever seen before, full of features and flavors that blow everyone’s mind. The other fellow cameras on the table are curious, asks questions. The Fujifilm X-T6 just whispers something about having a new heart and brain, about firmware improvements, about features no other camera has ever heard of before. It ends up saying “everything will change” and then vanishes before anyone can ask more questions. Only left a note behind: read FujiRumors.com, and you’ll know soon enough ;).

The End

That’s my way to wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving.

And feel free to let more cameras join the dinner in the comments down below. Other brands are welcome too :).

Fujifilm X-Pro4 – Time to Remove the OVF, or the EVF… and Everything in Between

Fujifilm X-Pro4

Is it the Fujifilm X-T6?
Nope.

Then it must be the X-H3, right?
Not that one either.

Ah, so surely the X100VII!
Forget about it.

The camera people ask me about the most — and the one I get the longest wish lists for in my inbox — is the Fujifilm X-Pro4.

And since so many of you have shared your hopes and ideas, it’s time for a dedicated Fujifilm X-Pro4 Wishlist Roundup on which I share some of your messages.

They include the very controversial opinion to remove the optical viewfinder and go the Leica M EV1 path. If Leica was brave enough to make this step, why shouldn’t Fujifilm?

But, as you can read here, some also want the complete opposite: get rid of the EVF and only keep the OVF (+ERF).

In my opinion Fujifilm should not ditch the OVF. On the contrary, they should make it even better. And early rumors suggest they are indeed doing just that. But at the same time do not remove the EVF. So, in short: an improved hybrid viewfinder is the way to go according to me.
