This PDF Lists 80 Fujifilm Film Simulation Custom Profiles You Can Try out Yourself

Here on FujiRumors we have shared quite a few articles about people, sharing their customized Fujifilm film simulation profiles.

From Peter Evans, who was inspired by the masters of the past and present, and fine tuned his film simulations to emulate the look of their images (we reported here), to Ritchie Roesch, who tried to recreate the look of old film stock by adjusting the settings of various film simulations (we reported here).

Then there are the receipts shared by renown photographers, for example Kevin Mullins (we reported here).

And of course there are lots of other Fujifilm X shooters, who played around with the film simulation, trying to achieve a particular look.

In fact, there are so many, that we might have lost a bit the overview.

But luckily over at our fantastic Fujifilm X-Pro group, fellow X shooter David collected 80 film simulation receipts and shared them all in a very practical PDF.

It is an amazing and surely very time consuming effort, that I would like to share with everybody, and not only with the members of the closed X-Pro group. So here is the link to David’s public facebook post and for the direct link to Google Docs click here.

David is still working on the document, so check back regularly for the latest updates.

Great job, David – see his personal facebook pageinstagram page

Fujifilm GFX100 Back in Stock… with Stellar Review Ratings!

The Fujifilm GFX100 is a big success.

According to our information, just at launch, the demand was triple the (already optimistic) forecast by Fujifilm. Managers later on officially said sales are more than twice what they expected.

As a consequence, it took a long time to finally ship it, and until just recently it was not always easy to find in stock.

Now the next batch shipped from Japan, and you can find the Fujifilm GFX100 in stock again at B&H Photo, AmazonUS, Adorama and Focuscamera.

The customer reviews are excellent so far:

If you can afford it, this camera will make you very happy for sure in terms of image quality. Another topic is the ergnomic layout. Personally I wish it would have more of that retro feeling. But that’s niche, so Fujifilm wanted to go more DSLR style mainstream with this body.

Laowa 15mm f/4.5 Shift Full Frame Lens on Fujifilm GFX – First Sample Images

Venus Optics will soon launch the Laowa 15mm f/4.5 W-Dreamer shift lens for full frame cameras.

Now we have some sample images and we can give a few more details about how this full frame lens works on the Fujifilm GFX medium format system.

According to a beta tester, the Laowa 15mm f/4.5 W-Dreamer shift lens can be used on Fujifilm GFX, but the ability to shift is limited to ± 7.

Here is his the feedback the Chinese beta tester gave so far:

Although the image field of the shift lens is much larger than the ordinary 135 format lens, if the offset is too large (± 7 or more) on the 44×33 format, it will still have a dark angle

@ 老 frog lens 15-axis image field perfectly covers the 4433 sensor, visually there is 5mm up and down, and 3mm left and right shift amount

@ 老 frog lens 15-axis transfer to Fuji GFX 50R, the picture quality looks pretty good, even if it is an ordinary ultra-wide-angle lens, the perspective is very strong. Blessed 4433 users

Fujifilm wins “iF Design Awards” for 10 Products and FUJIFILM GFX100 awarded with highest ranked “iF Gold Award”

News is news, so I share it. But I wrote a very informative piece about these awards in the past. So, if you want to read how the business around (some of these) awards goes, check out this article.

Now, I do not know if the iF design award works the same like TIPA, EISA and others, but I would not be surprised if it would.

With that said, the iF Design Awards have been assigned, and Fujifilm wins with 10 products (last year they won 20 awards):

New Fujifilm Financial Results: Instax Declines, Mirrorless Suffers Severe Market Conditions, Solid Fujifilm GFX100 and X-Pro3 Sales

Last week, Fujifilm published their report for the 3rd quarter of the 2020 fiscal year (October to December 2019 – we remind you that the Japanese fiscal year ends on the 31th of March).

This report confirms the trend we saw in the previous report of November 2019: the Instax hype is slowing down, mirrorless is suffering under severe market conditions, and overall revenue and operating incomings decreased.

But Fujifilm is not alone. As we reported here, recently all camera manufacturers reported loss in their imaging division.

The only positive note comes from the Fujifilm GFX100 and Fujifilm X-Pro3, which enjoyed “solid sales“.

The sales were solid for FUJIFILM GFX100, a mirrorless digital camera equipped with a large format sensor with the world’s highest 102 million pixels resolution, and FUJIFILM X-Pro3, a flagship model of the X series launched in November 2019.

In the Imaging Solutions segment, though revenue decreased compared to the previous fiscal year, and operating income also decreased compared to the previous fiscal year due to such factors as a decline in revenue and effect of exchange rate.

Down below you can see the summary of the report as well as screenshots.

Fujifilm GFX Secret Roadmap: What We Got, What Changed and What is Still Missing

I just gave a quick look at the internal Fujifilm GFX roadmap FujiRumors leaked back in April 2017.

At that time, the internal Fujifilm roadmap considered the following lenses:

  • GF 250mm F4
  • GF 35mm F2.8
  • GF 20-36mm F3.5-4.5
  • GF 100-200mm F4.5-5.6

The roadmap, that you can see here, mentioned there will be “GF 20-36 or GF 100-200“.

Now let’s see what we got so far, what changed, and what’s missing:

What we got:

What we got, but changed a bit:

  • GF 100-200mm 5.6 (originally planed as f/4.5-5.6)
  • GF 30mm F3.5 (originally planed as 35 f/2.8)

What’s still missing:

  • GF 20-36mm F3.5-4.5

In June 2017, our sources then informed us, that the Fujinon GF 80mm f/1.4 has been added to the internal GF lens roadmap.

But also in this case, it took Fujifilm longer than expected to release it, mainly because of prolonged internal discussions, that ended up changing the lens from GF80mm f/1.4 to the one we find in the newest GF lens roadmap: the Fujinon GF 80mm f/1.7.

So what can we expect next?

Well, the current roadmap officially shows:

  • 2020 – Fujinon GF30mmF3.5 R WR
  • 2021 – Fujinon GF80mmF1.7 R WR

It’s strange Fujifilm didn’t add any tilt shift lens to the roadmap, because, if you remember the official Fujifilm G mount lens request survey, Fujifilm gave us only tilt shift lenses to vote on.

But as there will be surely at least one more G mount lens coming in 2021 (along with the Fujinon GF80mm f/1.7), maybe we could see one of these two options coming:

Let’s hope we will get both these lenses in 2021, in addition to the Fujinon GF80mmF1.7 R WR.

Holy Crop: Fujifilm GFX100 Pixel Shift Multishot Coming via Firmware Update

GFX100 image in normal mode... imagine what will happen when you quadruple the resoultion ;)
GFX100 image in normal mode… imagine what will happen when you quadruple the resoultion ;)

Back in October 2018, I told you the Fujifilm GFX100 will have pixel shift multishot. However, in March 2019 here, I got an update from a source, that pixel shift multishot won’t be ready for launch.

Some readers were worried, that this could all just be plain wrong rumors, and so I asked trusted sources again, and in July 2019 they confirmed: pixel shift multishot will come for sure, “it’s just a matter of time“.

Finally, Fujifilm officially disclosed plans for Pixel Shift multishot on Fujifilm GFX100 at the latest Fujifilm X summit.

They also showed a sample image during the X Summit live streaming (go to minute 40:20), but those are taken with GFX100 in normal mode (and it’s already impressive).

I thought this deserves to be highlighted in a dedicated article, as this is certainly a significant improvement the Fujifilm GFX100 will get via firmware update.

Holy crop… 400 megapixel.

Fujinon GF 90mm f/1.4 Lens Patent Surfaced

A recently spotted Fujifilm patent shows the design of a Fujinon GF 90mm f/1.4. In full frame DOF terms, this would be a 70mm f/1.1.

With the GF80mm f/1.7 R WR coming 2021, I don’t see much need for a Fujinon GF90mm f/1.4 R WR. The gaps the Fujinon G mount has to close are definitely others, such as a tilt shift lens and a Fujinon GF 20-36mm f/3.5-4.5 for example.
