Phottix Hints Again Fujifilm Support :)

Phottix continues to be quite enigmatic, regarding their Fujifilm support.

When they launched the Ares II flash trigger back in February, when asked about Fuji support, they answered: “You never know what the future holds” (article here)

Well, recently they gave another hint on their facebook page here. They shared a video of a Fuji user using the Phottix Indra 500 and Indra 360, and in the comments they said:

No dedicated Fuji trigger, yet.”

When asked more explicitly if they plan Fuji support, they answered:

Fujirumors says we do” [here is the article with the rumor]

The flash problems for Fuji users will soon belong to the past. Godox & Co are all working on support. And how else could it be, given that in the last 5 years the Fuji X (and now also G) system exploded. The Fuji X (and G) user market can’t be ignored anymore.

Switching systems is a big step no matter how well you know photography. Reviews do a good job of explaining how good the camera is, but they aren’t very good at explaining the learning curve which may or may not be painful coming from one system to another.

For Nikon switchers, I’ve tried to cover the differences in article. It’s written primarily coming from a full frame Nikon (or the D750 in my case) so it may not be applicable to all Nikon’s. It’s a little long but hopefully I’ve covered it in enough detail to keep everyone happy.

Bert Stephani Fujifilm GFX 50s First Impressions & More (GFX Zone)

Fujifilm GFX Zone

Bert Stephani just published his Fujifilm GFX 50s first impressions on his youtube channel. Some excerpts:

  • mindblowing sharpness, sometimes maybe even too sharp
  • sits a lot better in the hand than the X-T2
  • he does not like the way the strap attaches
  • battery last pretty long
  • Synch speed is a bit of a downside. But leaf shutter lenses would make lenses bigger and more expensive. But brands like Godox are coming with HSS
  • the most user friendly Medium Format camera
  • the huge super sharp files that come outshow the good, but also the bad… so if you make a little error, such as slightly misfocus, you see it more clearly on the GFX.
  • Bert asks himself if this camera is something for him, and after a lot of thinking, he decided to pull the trigger and purchased it
  • Bert says his current clients and jobs don’t require the GFX. But he thinks at future projects, since he is redesigning his business, and the GFX is part of this strategy

Fujifilm GFX Image Roundup

Hold on! Don’t say “Yet another GFX article” :) You can skip it if you want, and read the other two articles shared today, that are not (or not exclusively) GFX centric, like the X-E3 rumor here or the miXed zone here.

This post is just here to enjoy a tiny fraction out of the terrific amount of images shared over at our 11,000+ members strong GFX facebook group from all around the world. And the fact that they have been taken with GFX, is just secondary, compared to the beauty of the shots.

There is talent in the group, and I have the pleasure to share it with you :). So today, let’s see Madagascar, Italy, Russia and more through the eye of the GFX (also with a lot of adapted lenses)

Believe me, it costs me a ton of time to make these “image roundups”. But I am highly motivated to invest this time into it, because I know you guys appreciate that your images get the maximum visibility here on FujiRumors, and also because it’s a welcome break from the usual huge news/rumors stream here on FR.

But images are just one thing. The 11,000+ members of the group are also extremely helpful, ready to give you advice and feedback. You don’t believe me? Well, then you better join and check it out by yourself ;)

“Guys, I Got a Serious Problem: After Testing two Days the GFX, How Can I Go Back Shooting with my Sony A7r2?” (GFX Member Aziz)

Aziz Nasuti wrote on the Fujifilm GFX facebook page here:

Guys, I got a serious problem here: after shooting two days with GFX (testing) how I go back and shoot with my Sony A7r2 :( “

As to expect, the comment section is running hot, and Aziz explains:

I am 100% honest with you, not paid by Fuji. This camera is absolutely the best camera that I ever had. It is amazing in low light and boosting shadows and recovering the highlights. Now it doesn’t offer the best lens combination but it will come with the time.

[…] the GFX is much richer in depth and really deliver cleaner images.”

DPReview Killed the Fujifilm GFX 50S and I Disagree :: ROBOshoot Profoto & Co Lights with HSS and Fujifilm In-Camera Control

DPReview

Ok, so it’s not only me, who found the latest DPReview article very strange.

A few days ago I said that it’s kind of strange to take the best Full Frame cameras on the market (Sony A7rII, Canon 5DSr and Nikon D810), take of each one only the very best aspects, merge them together into one mythical SoNiCan D8A7Sr (can somebody photoshop it? ;) ), and compare this monster FF with 1 single camera, the Fujiflm GFX.

When it comes to IQ, all those FF cameras can’t match the GFX. You need 3 of them to come close to it.

Anyway, as I said, I’m not alone. You can also read this and more arguments at “DPReview Killed the Fujifilm GFX 50S using facts, they say. I Disagree” via thephotofundamentalist

ROBOshoot

John Poremba contacted me with some news to share that you might be interested in:

The next RoboSHOOT firmware version is being prepared for release. It is expected to provide additional flash support, enhances manual mode operation/performance, and supports In-Camera Flash Exposure Lock. Details are listed below.

WHAT’S NEW IN THIS VERSION
Added flash support – the added flash support includes:
– Nikon SB-800 and SB-5000
– Godox AD-360ii-N and X1N (Radio Remote)
– Profoto AirTTL-N and supported Profoto monolights
– Impact Venture Monolights with their Nikon Remote (reported support)
Plus, Monolights can be used along with normal flash at the same time.
Note, the Monolight support generally does not allow TTL+HSS at the same time. In that case, use manual power control In-Camera or on the controller for the Monolight. AutoFP will be selected according to shutter speed even if the light is in manual mode.

Manual Mode improvements (Selecting Manual Mode In-Camera for all groups with TTL flash):
– Manual Power is settable In-Camera for each group independently.
– AutoFP is available.
– Frame Rate of 8fps is possible.
This enables full In-Camera control of manual power and HSS while retaining high frame rates.

The In-Camera Flash Exposure Lock may now be used. The RoboSHOOT FEL function is still available but cannot be used at the same time as In-Camera lock (it is prevented).
