This Independent Movie was Shot on Fujifilm X-T4 – Do We Really Need a Dedicated Fujifilm Cinema Camera?

Johnnie from CineD is probably one of the nicest persons I have had the pleasure to e-meet in all these years of blogging.

And I know he truly loves Fujifilm and uses Fuji cameras for his personal and professional work.

But there is one thing where I respectfully disagree with him: Fujifilm does not need to make any dedicated video camera, as Johnnie also recently asked Fujifilm for. And I tell you why.

The absence of a dedicated video camera in Fujifilm’s lineup, allows Fujifilm to pack everything they can in terms of video specifications into their hybrid mirrorless cameras. This strategy avoids any potential internal competition with a separate cinema camera lineup. In contrast, companies like Sony and Canon may restrict certain specs and features in their hybrid cameras to safeguard the sales of their dedicated cinema cameras.

In short: if Fujifilm would offer cinema cameras, you could forget the X-H2S and X-H2 to be such powerful hybrid cameras. Or in future the Fujifilm X-H3 and Fujifilm X-H3S.

Indeed, the Fujifilm X-T4 already proves to be an exceptionally robust hybrid camera, as demonstrated today, thanks to an email I have received from fellow FR-reader Angel, which I share below.

by Angel Alvarez

My name is Angel Alvarez, my team and I just finished post production on an indie feature that we shot entirely on the Fujifilm X-T4 (save for 1 drone shot). A camera that I got excited about because of your website.

I could write pages on how I find the color rendering from Fuji much better than that of Blackmagic or even RED cameras, but to summarize; the X-T4 performed greatly and far exceeded my expectations. Granted, I encountered a few problems with it, but it was to be expected given the amount of stress we put it through.

I’d like to share with you a few frames from our film as well as a couple BTS stills that I’ve attached to this email.

You can also find the trailer below.

This film is a labor of love that took three years to complete. I hope I’m not overstepping, but if you enjoy what you see, and you think it’s worth your time, we’d be extremely grateful if you could do a post about it.

Forget About Fujifilm X-Pro4, X-E5, GFX100SII, X-T40, X80 & Co: the Only Camera Coming February 20 is the Fujifilm X100VI

What’s Coming

No, we will not hear anything about the Fujifilm X-Pro4 on February 20. Nothing.

And nothing also about the Fujifilm X-E5, or X-T40 or X-T300, or X80, or GFX100R.

The truth is this: the only camera to be announced on February 20 will be the Fujifilm X100VI.

I guess the Fujifilm X100VI is just too important for Fujifilm and it’s best that it does not get any distraction from other cameras on launch day.

Many of you guys might have seen it coming, due to the lack of rumors about other cameras.

But FujiRumors will make sure that the lack of rumors about other cameras will end soon ;).

Surprises?

But this does not mean we can’t get any surprises on February 20.

I still hope (no rumor) that Fujifilm will give us a new X mount roadmap, or makes major Kaizen firmware announcements, or they could even announce new lenses considering the fact that our sources said the X100VI is the only camera coming on February 20 (and we have leaked images of future XF lenses already months ago). But to be clear: as of now, I have not received information about other gear to come on February 20 (which does not mean it can’t come).

And Fujifilm has also teased a major XApp update, which hopefully might also be announced on February 20 (not a rumor, just a hope).

But they could also show us protoypes of gear to come.

As far as I can remember, at every X Summit something happened that I did not see coming, and I am confident that also this time we will get some surprises.

So definitely stay tuned on FujiRumors on February 20. We will cover it all, and you won’t miss anything.

Fujifilm FF230003 Registration Found (2nd Unreleased Product): Shall the X-Pro4, X-E5, X-S30, X-T6, X-T40, X-H3, X-H3S, X80, X100R, GFX100R Rumors Magically Appear ;)

Fujifilm has registered the FF230003, so we now have a total of two unreleased products registered:

  • FF230002
  • FF230003

Ah, that’s not enough!!!

Because as we told you, Fujifilm will announce more cameras in the first months of 2024 than in the entire year of 2023 (hence 3 or even more cameras in just a few months).

So there are still registrations missing here, trust me ;).

And we also told you (many months ago) what one of the cameras will be: the Fujifilm X100V successor (which you guys decided to call Fujifilm X100R).

Now, I can see the “rumors” about the Fujifilm GFX100R, Fujifilm X-Pro4, Fujifilm X-E5, Fujifilm X-T6, Fujifilm X-T40, Fujifilm X80, Fujifilm X-H3, Fujifilm X-H3S and more pop up. But those “rumors” appeared also ahead of the X Summit on May 24 and September 12, and of course none (not a single one!!!) of them materialized. But I guess misleading readers for traffic and good SEO is a great deal for them.

Here on FujiRumors we don’t mislead you with fake rumors.

Here we will tell you the real deal, and you will know it all very soon (promised!!!).

Fujifilm 2024: A Look Ahead Between Rumors and Speculations (X-Pro4, X100R, X-E5, X-T40, New XF Lenses, GFX Future)

2023 is Done

We just told you that there will be no more Fujifilm announcements in 2023.

And since in terms of new gear we are done for this year, lots of people started asking me what is coming in 2024.

Now, I am working on it, and we have shared already something.

For example we told you that the next XF lens to come is the replacement of this lens here.

More rumors will follow.

But as you know, on FujiRumors we will not make up a single rumor just to make traffic, nor share anonymous rumors we receive in which I don’t trust.

We prefer to share less rumors, generate less traffic, make less money, and value your time with less, but accurate rumors.

But until more rumors drop, I thought we could also make one single article where we talk about the current state of the rumors and also make speculation on what could or we would like to come in 2024.

Fujifilm FF230002 Registration Found – Expect X-Pro4, X-E5, X-S30, X-T6, X-T40, X-H3, X-H3S, X80, X100VI (X200) and GFX50R Successor Rumors to Magically Appear ;)

Fujifilm has registered the FF230002, so we now have a total of 2 registrations:

  • FF230001
  • FF230002

One of them will certainly be the Fujifilm GFX100 successor, which we already rumored months ago here.

Now, I can see the “rumors” about the Fujifilm GFX50R successor, the Fujifilm X-Pro4, Fujifilm X-E5, Fujifilm X-T6, Fujifilm X-T40, Fujifilm X80, Fujifilm X-H3, Fujifilm X-H3S, Fujifilm X100VI or X200 and more pop up. But those “rumors” appeared also ahead of the X Summit on May 24, and of course none of it materialized. But I guess misleading readers for traffic and good SEO is a great deal for them.

FujiRumors will let you know what the real deal is… clickbait and misleading free as usual ;).

Fujifilm X-T4 Discontinued (in Addition to X-Pro3, X-E4, X-T30II, GFX50R, GFX100)

Fellow FR-readers saw it coming already.

The Fujifilm X-T4 had been removed from the Japanese Fujifilm store back in September 2022 and also stores overseas started to mark it as discontinued.

Well, now it’s also time for BHphoto & Co to remove the Fujifilm X-T4 from their store, hence it’s now marked as discontinued also there.

The Fujifilm X-T4 joins lots of other Fujifilm cameras that are already marked as discontinued, such as the Fujifilm X-E4 (we reported back in March here), the X-T30II (we reported here), the Fujifilm X-Pro3 (we reported here), as well as the Fujifilm GFX50R and the Fujifilm GFX100.

But, trust me guys, don’t expect a Fujifilm X-Pro4, Fujifilm X-T40, Fujifilm X-E5, Fujifilm GFX50R replacement and Fujifilm GFX100 replacement to drop all on May 24, just because they are now discontinued.

Which Sensor Would You Like on the Fujifilm X-Pro4, X100V Successor, X-E5 and X-T40 – VOTE NOW

Ok, today it’s my birthday, and I have to apologise to you.

Because, remember when I asked which sensor you’d like Fujifilm to use in future cameras, if the 40MP sensor or the 26MP stacked sensor?

Well, forget about it, and sorry that I wasted your time.

Because Fujifilm managers recently told us that they still see a future in the 26MP X-Trans IV sensor. And also our rumors about the Fujifilm X-S20 featuring the 26MP X-Trans IV sensor confirm that at least one more camera, the X-S20, will get that sensor.

So this kind of requires me to ask for your kindness and time again, and to let you again vote on the survey. But this time I’ll include the option of the X-Trans IV sensor.

Only one camera will get an additional option: the Fujifilm X-Pro4. Because, as I told you recently, I think Fujifilm will continue to experiment with that camera line; experiments that could include also a different type of sensor. But to be clear: it’s all just speculation from my side, not a rumor. Just to be clear and avoid misunderstandings.

So, down below you can vote your favourite sensor for each camera again.

Also, in the video I made today will share what my favourite sensor would be for each camera.

Fujifilm X-T4 ES Extended Spectrum Infrared Camera Removed and “Discontinued”

Just yesterday we reported how B&H Photo was listing the Fujifilm X-T4 ES extended spectrum infrared camera on their website with expected shipping in 2-4 weeks (see article here).

But apparently something went wrong at B&H, as some fellow X shooters have sent me the following notice of BHphoto:

You are receiving this message because you asked to be notified when this item becomes available. We regret to inform you that this item has unfortunately been discontinued. Please check back on our website for similar or possible replacement items. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

Given that Fujifilm has already launched IR versions of their X-T cameras (the Fujifilm X-T1 IR), an infrared X-T4 version would definitely be a plausible option.

So either the Fujifilm X-T4 ES infrared camera is indeed coming soon and B&H just put the page up a bit too early, or it is not coming at all and B&H just made an error.
