POLL: Do you want a New Battery for X-Pro2 or keep the same NP-W126 battery of the X-T1 (& CO)?

 photo PRO2 BELIEVE_zpshcohlu7k.jpg

We recently discussed the quality of several third party batteries in this post. There are some very good alternatives to the expensive original Fuji batteries, like Patona, Wasabi and the Watson (and more suggestions in the comments). These batteries are small & cheap. I own 4 of them, so I never have to worry about battery life on my X-E2 / X-T1. Problem solved!

But I’ve heard some in the FujiRumors community asking for a new, longer lasting battery for the X-Pro2.

I thought it would be nice to let you vote on this topic. Should the Fuji X-Pro2 feature a new, improved battery, or keep the same Fujifilm NP-W126 battery, so you’ll be able to use the same batteries you already own for the X-T1, X-T10, X-E2 & CO?

Feel free to drop your vote:

Dual SD-Card slot for the Fujifilm X-Pro2! (anonymous source) – with POLL

 photo PRO2 BELIEVE_zpsmfcps7pr.jpg

I’ve already shared it last year from a new source, and now an anonymous source (thanks) says it too: the Fujifilm X-Pro2 will feature a dual SD-Card slot.

No confirmation from trusted source so far.

As you might remember, the Fuji X-T1 was planed to have 2 SD-Card slots, too. However, Fuji changed plans (as so often), sealed one SD-Card slot, and decided to go for a single SD-card slot with support for ultra-fast UHS-II SD-Card.

I’d love to see a Fuji X-Pro2 with dual UHS-II SD-card slot. But if you should decide between just one of these two feature, which one would you prefer?

Mark This Date: Here is the Fujifilm X-Pro2 ANNOUNCEMENT DATE… just for you, fellow FujiRumors readers :-) !

Do you know some other interesting / weird accessory for your X-camera? Then share it here :)

_ _ _

I tell you… this comes from trusted source, and therefore you better mark this date in your calendar.

However, before sharing, one important note: don’t take it as a 100% fact … I hear you saying: “Why? It comes from trusted source!” That’s right. But….

… but trusted or not, there is always a little risk to share the precise launch date several months before the official announcement. In fact, Fuji can change the date anytime for several reasons.

And believe me, if there is one thing I hate even more than posting a wrong rumor, then it’s posting a correct rumor at the time of sharing, but that turns out to be wrong, just because Fuji changed plans later on (damn you, Fuji X-Pro1S!!!).

That’s the risk of sharing early rumors, but what rumor site would FujiRumors be, if I wouldn’t take some risks for you ;) .

Ok, let’s move on.

I’ve noticed that since yesterday some fake rumors about the X-Pro2 announcement (& more) are circulating on the web, immediately debunked by the trusted Japanese source. According to the source, there won’t be any X-Pro2 at the CES in Las Vegas.

And today’s rumor is also brought to you by trusted source (thanks a lot!), who confirms: the trusted Japanese source is spot on. No X-Pro2 announcement at CES [6th to 9th January] but later. Fuji has set the announcement date to mid-January… more precisely, the 15th of January!

I don’t know you, but I’ve marked this date on my calendar. Of course I’ll let you know if there will be any changes, but I’m very optimistic that Fuji will keep this date.

Oh, and btw, isn’t Fuji launching a Big 5 years X-celebration Party at their HQ in… guess when… Mid-January? Sure, it doesn’t mean anything, it’s not a proof… we all know that coincidence exists ;-) !

NOTE: I’m still working to find out exactly when it will hit the market. Knowing Fujifilm, probably right in time for spring… 2017… just kidding ;)

there is still a lot to discover about the Fujifilm X-Pro2… so stay tuned in FujiRumors

Fujifilm X-Pro2 RUMOR UDPATE: It will NOT show up at CES 2016 but later! (Top Trusted Japanese Source)

Do you need something from Trusted Source? Then here it is:

If you’ll fly to the CES in Las Vegas from 6th to 9th January in the hope to see the X-Pro2, you’ll be highly disappointed

In fact, when asked, if the Fujifilm X-Pro2 will show up at CES, the Top-Trusted Japanese Source said

No, not at CES. Later

And for me, everything the Top Trusted Japanese source says, is like written in stone.

XF100-400 mock-up shows a 4.5 to 5.6 aperture range. No further delay :) :: Fuji X-PRO2 available early 2016 (New Source)!

 photo 100-400_zpsgmbbchw6.jpg

IIRC, in all the photo shows of 2015, Fujifilm always omitted to show us any aperture markings on the XF 100-400 lens. But this changed now, on the current Digital Show in Melbourne.

A kind FR-reader, who attended the show, shared the following pics with the FR-community… and they show a mock-up of the XF100-400 with an aperture range that goes from 4.5 to 5.6. So it seems Fuji decided to contain its size & weight. And according to the poll we launched earlier, many FR-readers will welcome this decision.

The XF 100-400 has already been delayed from late 2015 to early 2016. Will there be any further delay, as an anonymous source told us here? According to the latest information I got, no further delay! The XF100-400 should hit the market latest in March, as indicated in this roadmap.

And here is another tidbit: the same FR-reader, who attended the Photo Show in Melbourne, said that the X-PRO2 will be available in…. SUMMER. Don’t worry, Summer in Australia is Winter in the northern hemisphere :) . So the X-PRO2 will be available early 2016.

XF 140-400 RECAP

  • Photokina 2014: Fujifilm showed a mock-up of an XF 140-400 F4-5.6 coming in late 2015
  • New Roadmap in February: DELAY: Fujifilm shows an XF 100-400 lens with no aperture marking, with no indication of aperture range. Coming in early 2016.
  • CP+, February 2015: a journalist of ValueTechTV says that the XF 100-400 release was delayed, because Fuji decided to change the aperture range at the wide end and make it slower and smaller.
  • The latest roadmap shared by FR-reader Stalkdog here, shows that Fuji will release the XF 100-400 in March 2016. The aperture range is marked as 4.5 at the wide and 5.6 at the long end, confirming what the journalist at ValueTech said.
  • At the photo show in Melbourne, Fujfilm displayed an XF 100-400 with an aperture range that goes from 4.5 to 5.6.

So you think Fujfilm needs an X-PRO2? Forget it! Fuji’s Most Important Camera Ever has just been Announced :)

So here it is, Fuji’s really most important camera ever and the real winner for its imaging division: the brand new Fuji film Instax Mini 70!

You might say… who cares? We are X-shooters and the only instant film we eventually need is the Instax SHARE Smartphone Printer SP-1! These Instax cameras are not important for us!

WRONG!

Instax Cameras are a terrific success for Fujfilm and they push its imaging division into profits more than any X-series cameras. And this is a good thing for us X-shooters, since the earnings Fujfilm makes with Instax Cameras are fueling the development costs of the X cameras… including the one of our long-awaited Fuji X-PRO2!

SURPRISED?

That’s why Fuji keeps up releasing new models, from the Instax Wide 300 to the Fujifilm Instax Mini 90 Neo Classic, from the Instax Mini “Hello Kitty” to the just announced Instax Mini 70.

The latest one, the Instax Mini 70, comes also with some handy features like the automatic exposure control, which captures both the subject and the background in “beautiful clarity” and even a Selfie mode with built-in selfie mirror!

So, APS-C? Full Frame? M43? Medium Format?… no, it’s Instax that spanks them all… and that’s a good thing, even for X-shooters!

so, pay tribute to Fuji’s Instax World :)

Specs & Price of the new Instax Mini 70
Offical Press Release

Instax is really very important for Fujifilm… and therefore a matter for the boss, Fuji Guy Billy!

FULL PRESS RELEASE

FUJIFILM Corporation (President: Shigehiro Nakajima) is proud to announce that it will release the instax mini 70, a new model to join the ‘instax mini’ series of instant cameras which produce credit-card-size photos instantly, on October 23. The instax mini 70, which comes in three new colors including “Canary Yellow,” “Island Blue,” and “Moon White,” features the Auto Exposure Control Function to capture both the main subject and background in natural brightness as well as the newly added ‘Selfie’ mode. With its modern design the instax mini 70 broadens its appeal to not only young women, but also men in their 20s and 30s, making it a perfect fashion statement at any scene for any occasion at any time.

The instax mini 70 has a variety of shooting modes which allow the user to enjoy photography in a variety of situations. While taking ‘selfie’ shots, users can choose the ‘Selfie’ mode to provide the appropriate brightness and shooting distance for their ‘selfie shots’ and use the Selfie mirror beside the lens to check their framing. Features such as the tripod mount and the self-timer function are perfect for group shots. In addition, the ‘Macro’ mode can be used for shots at a minimum of 30cm from the subject and the ‘Landscape’ mode is suitable for far away landscape pictures.

Sony A7000 delayed (once again) to Februray. Will the X-PRO2 be postponed, too? I don’t think so… and here is why:

 photo confirmed_zpspoql9vgr.jpg

What we know: Fuji purchases its APS-C sensors from Sony.
What is rumored: There is a special agreement between Sony and Fuji (& other manufacturers), that allows Fuji to use the latest Sony sensor only 6 months after Sony itself implemented it in one of its cameras. Sure, the “6 months sensor embargo clause” is “just” a rumor, no matter how reliable the source are that shared the rumor. In this particular case I investigated the rumor together with Andrea of SAR. We both agreed that there is such a clause in the contract.

_ _ _

Ok, you’ve read it on SonyAlphaRumors… Sony has delayed the release of the A7000 to February! So will the X-PRO2 be delayed, too?

Well, since some people seriously claim it’s in my interested to spread bad news so that I can make more traffic (weird, isn’t it?), today I’m happy to share a good news rumor with you (and I’m ready for the shitstorm from the same folks, who will now claim I spread good news just to make more traffic ;) ). And here it is:

The source, who was right in the past and told us here the X-PRO2 will come in January, confirms the rumor. And now even another anonymous source, who uses a nick name and was right in the past (thanks), confirms: X-PRO2 will come in January.

So what… is the 6 months sensor embargo agreement just a rumor-phantasy? I don’t think so. Here some possibilities:

1) the agreements between Sony & Fuji have changed in the meantime
2) as a FR-reader suggested to me via email, “Fuji and Sony probably negotiated a “What if” clause, covering some of the contingencies if Sony failed to deliver on time. I have to believe that the Fuji lawyers were sharp enough to demand that everything wouldn’t be business as usual if Sony breached.”
3) the X-PRO2 will feature an older Sony sensor
4) the X-PRO2 will feature a Non-Sony sensor
5) After years of X-PRO2 (and X-PRO1S) rumor hunting, I’m now in a state of delirium and spread random rumors about it.

Sure, still take the grain of salt… at least until a trusted source can confirm that the X-PRO2 will come in January! But I’m carefully optimistic, that it will come in January.

stay tuned,
