BREAKING: Your Most Wanted Fujinon Lens is Coming in 2025 !!!

→ In Short: you can think of it as the merger of these two lenses

Last year Fujifilm asked us which one is our most wanted lens.

And there was one lens, who won the survey hands down by a very large margin.

The very same lens also won our own mega lens survey back in 2022.

Well, according to our trusted sources (THANKS) Fujifilm will launch exactly that lens in 2025.

Fujifilm X Summit March 20 at 5AM New York Time (11AM Berlin Time)

Ok, I noticed a bit of confusion after the X Summit announced on March 20 in Las Vegas at 10:30 AM here.

So let me clarify.

The “true” X Summit will take place in Prague (and live streamed on FujiRumors.com) on:

  • March 20 at 5 AM New York time
  • March 20 at 11 AM Berlin time

That’s when the Fujifilm GFX100RF will be officially announced.

The X Summit in Las Vegas is kind of a follow-up event for the Fujifilm GFX100RF launch. But at the time that Summit starts, we will know everything already about the Fujifilm GFX100RF.

Fujifilm Managers talk GFX Eterna, New Fujifilm Made Monitor and More: “The GFX Eterna Will Enhance also Other Models”

CineD interviewed top Japanese Fujifilm managers about the upcoming Fujifilm GFX Eterna, which is already listed at BHphoto here.

  • GFX Eterna is Fujifilm’s first dedicated filmmaking camera
  • GFX Eterna coming still this year
  • Price wise, the goal is to make it available not only for rental houses, but that people can actually own it – Price Rumor here
  • supports 4:3 open gate. Resolution better than 4K
  • rolling shutter depends on mode you are filming
  • also on GFX100II depending on what mode you select
  • “we are making sure that the camera has no rolling shutter issue when you are shooting with the camera”
  • 15ms is minimum rolling shutter (4K 16:9)
  • F-Log 2C was developed for the GFX Eterna, but since GFX100II already on the market, they added it there too
  • what is applied to GFX Eterna, will actually enhance also other models
  • Fujifilm developed a monitor that will be included in the package for the GFX Eterna
  • it’s not another brand making the monitor, but it is made by Fujifilm
  • 5 inch monitor with touch screen
  • Fujifilm has received a lot of requests for a viewfinder, so Fujifilm is considering how to respond to that
  • around NAB in April Fujifilm will be disclosing more specs, but probably not yet all about it, but the main specs
  • Fujifilm wants to make sure this camera is well accepted in the market, otherwise there is no second or third camera
  • dual base ISO, ISO800 and ISO3200
  • Johnnie from CineD says that the Fujifilm team is relatively small and the small team is working on multiple projects
  • the Japanese manager confirms, “you are right, we don’t have a big team, but our platform is the same, we have the 5th generation processor and sensor and so it’s quite efficient. Although we have a small team working on different categories and different products, but the team knows what’s going on for the other camera projects and that could be implemented between each other. We are doing our best with our small team
  • Developing a camera takes about 2 years. Fujifilm tries to adjust to the market needs as much as possible, so if Fujifilm thinks it’s necessary, they would even stop the development of a camera and change to something else. But that does not happen so often
  • Fortunately our digital cameras have been very well accepted, but of course the market will change

Fujifilm FF250001 Patent Spotted – Fujifilm X-E5 or Half Frame Camera?

Fujifilm has registered a new camera under the code FF250001, as spotted and shared on the Chinese social media platform by account E8M here.

So we have a total of two registered and unreleased cameras:

While it is likely that the FF240004 is the Fujifilm GFX100RF, the second camera could be the half frame Fujifilm camera or the Fujifilm X-E5.

Or it could be also something else I am not yet aware of.

Certainly it’s not the Fujifilm X-Pro4.

Fujikina Brussels Announced for May 24/25

We have proven it to you in this article: the majority of Fujikina events do not take place in conjunction with Fujifilm X Summits.

In fact, the majority of the Fujikina events in 2024 were scheduled weeks if not months away from any Fujifilm announcement.

Is that clear? So we can move on.

There will be a Fujikina in Brussels on May 24/25. You can sign up for updates here.

Just like the Fujikina in Barcelona, Berlin, Arles and Manila in 2024, also this one could be a completely standalone event (or not). I have no info.

What I am sure, though, is that the next Fujikina on March 22/23 in Prague will follow right after the Fujifilm X Summit on March 20. And yes, Fujifilm X Summit means that new gear is going to be announced.

Stay tuned on FujiRumors for updates.

Fujifilm Q3 Financial Results: Professional Imaging Segment up 25.6% YoY

The Fujifilm Q3 Financial Results (October-December 2024) have just been shared.

We can see that Instax makes about twice as much revenue as Fuji’s professional imaging segment. That’s impressive, considering that at the same time the R&D investments for Instax products are significantly smaller than for the X and GFX system.

But also the X and GFX series are doing well, as “brisk sales of digital cameras continued to drive revenue growth” with a 25.6% YoY revenue growth.

Professional Imaging – Revenue ¥58.9 billion (up 25.6% YoY)

  • Digital camera sales grew mainly in China. Strong sales of the four models launched last year – X100VI, GFX100S II, X-T50 and X-M5– contributed to higher revenue.
  • Development of our filmmaking camera FUJIFILM GFX ETERNA, which features rich, true-to-life visuals through a large format sensor, is underway, with launch planned in 2025

Consumer Imaging – Revenue ¥110.6 billion (up 7.9% YoY)

  • Revenue increased driven by steady sales of the instax instant photo systems.
  • In addition to the instax mini 12, strong sales of new high-value added products, including the instar WIDE 400 wide format camera launched in July and Link 3, contributed to higher revenue.
  • The instax WIDE Evo, the high-end hybrid instant camera which offers versatile shooting expressions with its most extensive range of effects in the instax series, was launched today (February 6, 2025).

In the Imaging segment, consolidated revenue amounted to ¥426.7 billion (up 15.8% year-over-year). Operating income amounted to ¥115.0 billion (up 29.3% year-over-year). In the consumer imaging business, steady sales of the instax instant photo systems drove revenue higher. In September 2024, we launched the smartphone printer instax mini Link 3, which can print smartphone images on card-sized instax film. Sales grew steadily during the year-end sales season, along with the instant camera line-up. We will continue to expand the world of the instax instant photo system that allows people to enjoy on-the-spot photo printing.

In the professional imaging business, brisk sales of digital cameras continued to drive revenue growth. In November 2024, we launched the FUJIFILM X-M5 mirrorless digital camera, the lightest in the X series. We also announced the development of our first-ever filmmaking camera, the FUJIFILM GFX ETERNA. We will continue to feature outstanding image quality with the large format sensor in the GFX series and the best balance of image quality and size in the X series, providing attractive products for digital camera users and the film industry.

Fujifilm X Summit March 20 in Prague: What to Expect… and What Not

So we told you that the next Fujifilm X Summit will take place March 20.

By the way, it will take place in the wonderful city of Prague.

I have quickly read all possible speculations about what will come, so let me set a few things right.

The only gear we can be sure will come on that day, will be the Fujifilm GFX100RF.

And the gear we can be sure will not come on that day is the Fujifilm X-E5, which will come in summer 2025.

And if the anonymous source is correct, also the Fujifilm GFX Eterna will come later (in June).

There is the 1″ half frame Fujifilm camera, but I have no idea when that one will come, so I can’t exclude that for March 20.

Of course there can be always surprises. Some early prototypes of future gear (digital X Pan TX-3 anyone?), new lens roadmaps and what not.

But whatever comes, the place to be is FujiRumors.com. We will cover everything so that you won’t miss anything. ;)

Fujifilm GFX Eterna Might Come Early June (Cine Gear Expo) for about 15-20K USD

DISCLAIMER: this information comes from an anonymous source, so please take it with a grain of salt. Once I can confirm (or not) any of these details, I will share the updates here on FujiRumors.

In late 2024 Fujifilm made the development announcement for the Fujifilm GFX Eterna film camera along with a new dedicated film-oriented lens, the Fujinon GF32-90mmF3.5.

Fujifilm told us that the camera would be announced in 2025, and now we have possibly more information about it.

In fact, an anonymous source reached out to us and told us that the camera would be announced for the Cine Gear Expo 2025 (June 5-8).

The source also said it would cost between 15 to 20K USD, which makes it significantly more affordable than for example the Sony Burano 8K cine camera but also much more expensive than something like the Canon C400 6K cine camera.

I guess it was to expect that the price would be somewhere in between the Canon C400 and the Sony Burano, but I was hoping it would be around 12K to make it a truly aggressive entry in the cine camera market by Fujifilm.

And yet, we have to keep in mind that the Fujifilm GFX Eterna will feature a sensor that is about 70% larger than the one on the Sony Burano and the Canon C400. And the sensor is the most expensive part of the camera.

For example, the old 50MP sensor cost about 2,000 USD at the time when the GFX50R was launched. The new 100MP should be even more expensive than that (around 3K I hear, but I am verifying this).
