Fujifilm X Summit on September 12: What Camera are You Hoping for to Come? VOTE NOW

So, we just leaked the date of the next Fujifilm X Summit, which will happen on September 12.

Now I am curious to know what you guys are hoping for to come.

That’s why I have now launched a survey that includes plausible, less plausible and borderline impossible options.

I’ll not include 110% impossible cameras, which would be for example a Fujifilm X-H3 or Fujifilm X-H3s, as those cameras are hardly 1 year old (or less). Or the Fujifilm X-T6 or Fujifilm X-S30.

What we will inlcude are the Fujifilm X-T5s (X-T5 with 26MP stacked sensor of X-H2S), Fujifilm X-Pro4, Fujifilm X-E5, Fujifilm X-T40, Fujifilm X100V successor (X200, X100VI, X100 whatever), Fujifilm X80, Fujifilm XF20, Fujifilm X-T300, Fujifilm X-A8, Fujifilm X-A30, Fujifilm X-M2, Fujifilm GFX100 successor, Fujifilm GFX100S successor, Fujifilm GFX50R successor and Fujifilm GFX50SII successor.

I will give you two options to vote on, because Fujifilm has so far registered two yet to be released cameras.

Have fun voting :)

On September 12 I would like to Get the Following Cameras (max 2 votes)

EXCLUSIVE: Date of Next Fujifilm X Summit LEAKED

X Summit Date Leaked

Thanks to our amazing sources, we have now received the date for the next Fujifilm X Summit.

But before I share it, one important disclaimer.

You know better than me at this point, Fujifilm X Summit dates are nothing 100% sure, even if it’s Fujifilm itself to tell you the date. In fact, the officially proudly announced April X Summit has been canceled and on the last day of April Fujifilm announced its cancelation.

So, I am going to share the date with you today, but I can’t 100% exclude that there will be changes. And if there will be, I will let you know.

With that said, here is the date.

According to our trusted sources, the next Fujifilm X Summit will take place on September 12.

Yes, that’s still quite far away. And yes, that makes it even more “risky” for me to share, as there is lots of time until that date and changes can happen anytime.

But if I share the date anyway with you, it means that I have good reasons to be confident about this date. A confidence that is given to me by our trusted sources.

Déjà vu Anyone?

Some of you guys might have some Déjà vu now and remember that date from somewhere.

Well, I actually have reported about that date a while back here, when thanks to our reader, who digged in the depths of the registration, we spotted the registrations for two new cameras, the FF220002 on May 26 and the FF230001 on September 12.

In that article I warned you though that usually registrations don’t actually fit with the real announcement date. I’ve checked back and here are some examples:

  • X-S20: registrations says May 26 / reality May 24
  • GFX100S: registrations says January 29 / reality January 27
  • X-T200: registrations says January 24  / reality January 23

And in 90% of the cases registrations don’t even give any date at all (or even become public only AFTER the camera has already been announced, as it was the case of the X-E4 registration).

But this time around the registration could well fit the real announcement date according to our sources.

Don’t Miss Out on the Fun

Don’t miss out on the fun ahead of the X Summit, with LOTS (!!!) of rumors to come (I promise ;)) only here on FujiRumors and, if you want, also on my YouTube channel, where not only you will get all the rumors, but often also some travel tips as I will show you around one of the most beautiful places the world has to offer.

Because new gear is nice and good. But investing in experiences and travels is just as gratifying if not more. And it’s one of the best ways to make good use of our awesome gear.

Fujifilm X-S20: Initial Monthly Production of 15,000 Units

As reported by Nikkei, the initial monthly production for the Fujifilm X-S20 is planned to be 15,000 units.

I have no idea if that’s a high number or not.

What I know is that so far the Fujifilm X-S20 has not received the almost traditional “shipping delay due to high demand” notice, so let’s hope Fujifilm planed well ahead and they have enough stock to ship out all pre-orders on day 1 and to assure stable stock going forward (a rare thing in the Fujifilm world these days).

Fujifilm Factory Tour: Meet Fujifilm’s Most Complex Gear to Manufacture and How Adjustment is Key to Image Quality

The French website Phototrend had the opportunity to visit the Fujifilm factory in Taiwa, Japan, which where many premium Fujifilm gear is made, but not only premium. For example, also Fujifim’s oldest X mount lens, the legendary Fujinon XF35mm F1.4 R is assembled here.

In this tour, Fujifilm will also tell you which is the most complex gear to manufacture. Spoiler: it’s this beast here, which consists of over 1,000 pieces!!!

There is lots of interesting stuff to read and see, but I found one sentence particularly interesting: “adjustment is the key to image quality“.

So while the assembly takes time and is indeed complex, all the micro-adjustments made during and after the assembly are crucial to ensure a consistent and high quality product.

Down is a quick summary where you can read all the details as well as some images.

How to Use ChatGPT to Create Film Simulations Recipes

Fellow Fujifilm Film Simulation member Cris created his own film simulation recipe using ChatGPT.

Today I asked ChatGPT to create a Fuji Film Recipe for the GFX50R that mimic’d Kodak Tri-X Pushed One Stop and it created me a pretty respectable emulation.

If you want to check out the results, go to the dedicated post in the film simulation group.

SonyAlphaRumors guy Andrea found this so cool that he used the ChatGPT to create his own recipe on his personal Fujifilm GFX100S. He shared the results in the video you can see above.

Good that Fujifilm cameras have so many aspects you can fine-tune directly in camera (Clarity, Grain, etc). ;)

Interestingly it works also if you ask to emulate the film on a Sony cameras. I hope Andrea will compare the results between Sony and Fuji and tell us which ones are closer to the real film.

As far as I can see from the few samples visible on the film simulation group and at Andrea’s YouTube channel, the recipe they got are different to the ones of well known Fuji X Weekly.

Since there are many people and websites offering film simulations recipes (for example OneCameraOneLens), maybe the software looks at all film simulations recipes with the same name and makes a mix out of them, or maybe it really just guesses the best settings based on the characteristics of the film.

I don’t know how it works, but it’s curious you can create such simulations also via ChatGPT.

Fujifilm X-E4 Discontinued at BHphoto and Other Stores

The Fujifilm X-E4 was launched in January 2021 and the last time I’ve noticed the X-E4 in stock was back in October 2021.

Not even the Fujifilm X100V has such a bad shipping record as the X-E4.

And now, after 2 years only, stores are already starting to mark it as discontinued, as for example BHphoto here (in all its combinations) and the Australian store Camerapro.

It’s a pity that such a beautiful little camera hardly ever shipped and now it even seems to be over for it.

At this point, the Fujifilm X-E5 can’t come soon enough.

DPRTV Declares Fujifilm X100V their All TIme Favorite Reviewed Camera and Most Viewed DPRTV Video EVER

DPRTV shared a video about their top 5 favourite products they reviewed in all these years.

Guess which camera comes out on top for Chris?

It’s the Fujifilm X100V.

And there is more!

The Fujifilm X100V was not only Chris’ favourite camera, but their X100V review was also the highest viewed video EVER on DPRTV.

As for Jordan, he places the Fujifilm X-T3 and Fujifilm GFX100S on the 5th spot and covers those two cameras with lots of love!

How 3 Dollar Saved my Fujifilm X-T5 and Re-Discovering Classic Negative in Vietnam

$3 that Saved my X-T5

If it wasn’t for this ultra cheap accessory, my first travel with my new Fujifilm X-T5 could have been ruined (from a photographic point of view).

Here is what happened.

Destination: visiting my wife’s family in Hanoi, Vietnam, during Christmas Holidays.

While waiting for our bags at the Hanoi airport (after a humble 25 hours travel in the cheapest economy class seats), I took out my X-T5 and started to take some images. Then I asked my wife to hold the X-T5 while I handle the bags and bring them to the taxi.

Once we were in the taxi, rather exhausted from the long flight, my wife put the X-T5 on her lap. Arrived at her parents home, she totally forgot she had the camera on her legs, opened the door, got out of the car and the X-T5 tumbled down on the street.

  • first thought: luckily I did not travel with the Fujifilm GFX100S
  • second thought: remember there are worst things in life
  • third thought: f***

When we collected the X-T5, we noticed major cracks on the screen.

But luckily I followed my own advice and did immediately apply a $3 touch sensitive screen protector on my X-T5 when I bought it.

This saved my X-T5 and once back home in Italy, I simply removed the broken screen protector using a dental floss and replaced it with a new one.

The X-T5 itself is still in perfect conditions and works like a champ. It’s a tough beast ;).

Lesson learned: don’t save on the wrong things. If you don’t have a self protecting fully articulating screen, then a screen protector is a must buy.

Re-Discovering Classic Negative

Now to the more pleasing part of the tale ;).

I didn’t get around a lot in Vietnam, as of course our main goal was to spend as much time as possible with her family and friends. So lots of the images I took are casual images capturing our daily life at home. Nothing of huge interest to share on FujiRumors, but for me personally the images that matter most.

But we did manage to squeeze in a 3 day trip to the nearby Ninh Binh province (to visit Tam Coc and Tràng An, where the movie “Kong: Skull Island” was filmed).

I traveled with the Fujifilm X-T5, the XF23mmF1.4 and my favorite travel zoom, the XF 18-135mmF3.5-5-6.

And I did put a little “challenge” on me: exit out of my film simulation “comfort zone” (mainly Classic Chrome and Astia) and try to use film simulations I haven’t used in a while.

This time around, I mostly used Classic Negative, mainly for street photography and cityscape, but also for some landscape images.

And I must say I really love the results and as a consequence I started to use it more often also once I got back home in Italy.

The lesson learned?

Well, I guess we all have film simulations we particularly love. And maybe in the past we used some film simulations that did not convince us and as a consequence started to ignore them.

But my tip would be to give that hardy used film simulation another try. You might find out you love it more than you initially thought.

Eduardo Soteras Snaps UNICEF Photo of the Year 2022 with Fujifilm APS-C X Gear

Eduardo Soteras has just been awarded with the UNICEF Photo of the Year 2022 for the image you can see above. The story is this one:

Although destroyed, the library in this elementary school in Ethiopia’s Tigray region is where two children have taken refuge in books. This little moment of happiness shows in their smiles. It is a rare moment. Because of the armed conflict with the central government, 5.2 million people in this region in northern Ethiopia are suffering from violence, displacement, malnutrition and a shortage of drinking water.

[…] The desire to discover and learn new things is often so great in children that it makes them forget the threat of a situation.

That is the message of the Unicef photo of the year 2022,” said Unicef patron Elke Büdenbender, wife of Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

“The winning image challenges us to do everything we can to ensure that children can play and learn even under the most adverse circumstances.

Because this is the only way they can maintain their hope and confidence in times of war and other crises.

Given the importance of this image, little it matters that the EXIF data shows it has been taken with the Fujinon XF 16mm f/1.4 R WR.

Here on FujiRumors we just want to congratulate with fellow X shooter Eduardo Soteras for his important recognition and for making the best possible use of our beloved Fujifilm gear: encapsulating meaningful moments and important messages into a single powerful image.

You can read more about this image and Eduardo Soteras at the dedicated UNICEF page here.

Thanks to Daniel Stocker (instagram) for letting me know about it.

And in case you are being brainwashed by some YouTubers that you can only get real Pro work done with Full Frame gear, check out the articles below.

Not enough? Well, then know that photographers using Fujifilm cameras also…

  • won the world wildlife photography award (story here)
