BREAKING: Fujifilm GFX50S MKII Coming 2021 with Same 50 Megapixel Sensor of GFX50S

According to our trusted sources, Fujifilm will launch the Fujifilm GFX50S MKII in 2021. It will use the same sensor currently featured on the original GFX50S.

As we told you yesterday, it will be more affordable than the GFX100S.

Expect updates… on FujiRumors :)

As you know I pre-ordered the Fujifilm GFX100S and I can’t wait to get it.

Fujifilm GFX100S Shows No More PDAF Banding (and Silently Fixed also on GFX100 via Firmware Update?)

Fujifilm GFX100S Banding

We already reported here, how Matt Granger could not see any PDAF banding on the Fujifilm GFX100S, which is something that annoyed him on the original GFX100.

Now Jim Kasson received his GFX100S, and immediately tested it out.

And indeed, after a 5 push shadow recovery and also a +100 shadow recovery, here is what he says:

Good news! There appears to be virtually no PDAF banding, and not much banding of any description.

While this is an excellent news, he also adds that the 16bit version “doesn’t appear significantly better” than the 14 bit version. It is a bit better, but not that much. Also, some in the Fuji community say that the 16bit files seem to have better black tones with lower chroma noise.

You can see the samples are read more at blog.kasson here.

Fujifilm GFX100 Firmware FIx

According to information we have received, Fujifilm also fixed the banding issue via firmware update on the original GFX100. Fujifilm never said this explicitly, but hide it behind the standard phrase “fix of minor bugs“. But this is just something I can’t confirm right now.

BREAKING: One More Fujifilm GFX Camera Coming 2021, More Affordable than GFX100S

I know many of you will be skeptical right now.

Why?

Well, because here is how things went so far:

So, in 4 years of GFX series, we got 3 cameras only, hence less than one camera a year.

Fujifilm rightfully focused on giving us lenses for the system, with 12 G mount lenses launched in 4 years.

But according to our trusted sources, this will change in 2021.

In fact, I have been told that Fujifilm will launch another GFX camera in 2021. It will be more affordable than the recently launched Fujifilm GFX100S.

Expect updates.

On FujiRumors.

Very soon.

Love you!

P.S.: Don’t worry, this new GFX camera won’t use the newly registered low capacity Fujifilm NP-70S battery. That battery is for… oh well, you’ll see soon enough. Just follow FujiRumors ;)

Why the Upcoming Fujinon GF Zoom Might not be the Fujinon GF 20-36mm f/3.5-4.5 (Opinion, not Rumor)

When we told you that Fujifilm will launch a new GF zoom in the first half of 2021, many were sure: this has to be the Fujinon GF 20-36mm F3.5-4.5!

But where does that Fujinon GF 20-36mm F3.5-4.5 rumor come from?

Well, it comes from an internal Fujifilm roadmap we leaked back in 2017 here.

As you can see, everything that was on that roadmap materialized at some point, except for the UWA Fujinon GF 20-36mm F3.5-4.5.

But if you look closely, the internal roadmap says “GF20-36mm” or “GF100-200mm”. And, well, in 2019 Fujifilm announced the Fujinon GF100-200mmF5.6.

Why this intro?

Well, because we recently told you the following about the upcoming Fujinon G mount zoom lens that it will be:

And here comes the speculation (not rumor).

The Fujinon GF 20-36mm F3.5-4.5 would be a a 16-28mmF2.8-3.5 full frame equivalent lens (or 10-18mm f/1.8-2.2 APS-C equivalent), and usually such wide angle faster zoom lenses are not the cheapest on the market, unless you go with third party offerings like the Tokina 16-28mm f/2.8.

So either Fujifilm worked miracles and is about to give us an ultra affordable UWA lens, or the lens we are talking about is not the Fujinon GF 20-36mm F3.5-4.5.

I don’t know the answer yet, but if I should place a bet right now, I’d not put my money on a GF20-36mmF3.5-4.5 lens, but on a very affordable travel zoom lens, which will still be able resolve all the 100 megapixels the GFX system offers, but maybe be made more out of plastic and have a slower aperture.

Sort of something we know from the Fujinon XC lenses, although I hope it will retain the aperture ring, the lack of which would be a dealbreaker for me.

But again, this is pure speculation from my side. Not a rumor.

Fujifilm Manager at CP+: “We Will Release Many XF and GF Mirrorless Lenses This Year, So Please Look Forward to It”

Fujifilm General Manager Takashi Ueno said at the virtual CP+ convention 2021 that Fujifilm will release “many mirrorless X and GFX lenses this year“.

Well, the start in 2021 was fantastic, with the following three lenses launched:

But that is apparently not enough for 2021.

FujiRumors already told you to forget about the XF35mmF1.4MKII. That’s rocksolid multiple confirmed from several trusted sources.

What will still come for sure are:

We also know Fujifilm is also working on a Fujinon XF150-600mm, but that one should come in 2022. Of course FujiRumors is investigating and making constant progress on the rumor front, so expect updates soon.

In the meantime, down below is a summary of Fujifilm’s CP+ online talk.

FujiRumors Pre-Ordered the Fujifilm GFX100S and Now Asks for GF Lens Recommendations (with Poll)

Fujifilm GFX100S

Long I have lusted, long I have waited.

Long I have postponed, long I have delayed.

But as Oscar Wilde once said: “the only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it“.

Life is short, world is doomed, I’ve worked hard on two jobs for almost 10 years now (teaching and FR) and in 2020/2021 spent so little, due to a life in lockdown, so screw it, I just pre-ordered the Fujifilm GFX100S.

But my dealer warned me: I have quite a few guys ahead of me, pre-orders are strong, and it might take a while until Fujifilm will be able to deliver the GFX100S to all those, who ordered one. So now I arm myself with patience, and hope to get it in time for the summer hikes in my lovely Dolomites.

I have no hurry to build up a GFX system, as my Fujifilm X gear covers already pretty much everything, from portraits to macro, from landscape to street… and because the investment of GFX100S plus one lens is already big enough for now. And btw, good that I already own the Fujifilm X-T4, as I can swap the same NP-W235 batteries with the GFX100S, plus I also already have the original dual battery charger.

Since I am in no hurry, I can buy lenses slowly (maybe also waiting for such amazing GF lens deals like in USA), and for the beginning I will start with one focus: lenses for landscape photography.

As you can see on my Instagram, I live surrounded by the wonderful Dolomites, hence landscape photography is what brought me into photography in the first place, and it’s also a photographic genre where the Fujifilm GFX100S just shines above all others.

The big question now is: which lens should I get to start with?

I think the GF23mmF4 will come out high in your recommendations. But for me landscape photography does not mean to go always as wide as possible. On the contrary, over the years I’ve loved it more and more to user longer focal lengths and give my landscape shots a more compressed look. On my X system, the XF18-135mm gave me all that in one lens.

So should I go for something that gives me more flexibility on the long end? Such as the GF45-100mmF4, or even something longer like the GF100-200mm. Or, with 102 megapixel available, I could also simply get the 23mmF4 and just crop the heck out of it? Or is the GF32-63mmF4 the best balanced lens for my needs? Or am I missing out on something?

So tell me, what is your favorite G mount lens for landscape photography?

Feel free to let me know in the survey down below and to drop your thoughts in the comments.

For Landscape Photography, I recommed the Following G mount lens (max. 2 selections)
