Foto EmaTV had an 1+ hour long skype interview with Italian Fujifilm manager Riccardo Scotti. They talk about the Fujifilm X-T4.

Most important: he can’t say anything, but the way he formulated it, he made hopes for a major Fujifilm X-T3 firmware update. Read it down below.

Fujifilm X-T30 Gets Firmware 1.20 Love and New Features Guide

Earlier today, Fujifilm released a couple of firmware updates.

The main course of the meal, was a significant firmware update for Fujifilm X-T30 cameras.

Along with the new X-T30 firmware, Fujifilm also published a new features guide for Fujifilm X-T30.

New Firmware for Fujifilm X-T3, X-T30 and XF 16-80mm f/4 Released

Fujifilm has released firmware updates for a couple of Fujifilm cameras and lenses. You can find all the details below.

The firmware update Ver.3.21 from Ver.3.20 incorporates the following:

The firmware update Ver.1.20 from Ver.1.10 incorporates the following issues:

Regarding the details of No.1, download the “X-T30 New Features Guide” from our website.

  1. Gimbal / Drone support (*)
    This firmware adds the following function to complement the current support for still image shooting via USB communications:
    ・Starting and ending video recording
    ・Adjusting exposure settings (exposure mode, shutter speed, aperture, ISO sensitivity, exposure compensation) for video recording
    ・Making manual focus adjustments for video recording
    *This is the function via USB communication. About supported gimbals and drones, refer to support information not only on our website but also manufacturers’ websites.
  2. Enhanced autofocus.
    *Improving the tracking performance of the eye AF frame, making it easier to attain accurate autofocus on the eyes.
    *Improving face-detection performance when there are faces of different sizes within the same frame, making it easier to attain accurate autofocus.
    *Improving autofocus capability on a foreground subject even when there is a mixture of foreground and background subjects within a AF frame, causing the foreground subject to go out of focus, e.g. when shooting flowers against a busy background.
  3. Capability to save up to 9,999 pictures in each folder.
    Until now, the number of pictures that can be saved in a folder on an SD card was limited to 999. This update will raise the limit by ten times to 9,999 pictures.
  4. Fix of minor bugs.

Fujifilm X-T3 Firmware Update in Spring/Summer will Bring “a Significant Number” of Fujifilm X-T4 features to X-T3

We just had to debunk a rumor, about an imminent arrivial of Fujifilm X-T3 firmware 4.0.

We confirm, the firmware is NOT coming soon, hence the screenshot you see in this post with the firmware update list, is 100% fake. Fujifilm is NOT currently editing the firmware page to release a new firmware very soon.

Here is the rumor we received from sources (thanks):

  a significant number of the new features in X-T3 successor will be introduced to X-T3 via firmware updates in the spring/summer

So, there will be eventually one, but the wait is definitely longer, and Fujifilm is NOT editing their firmware page right now, as the firmware has still to be developed. So no need to format your SD-Card, fellow X-T3 users ;).

But the day the firmware comes, what could be the features? Easy to upgrade should be:

  • digital image stabilization
  • new film simulations Classic Negative and Bleach Bypass
  • AF Range limiter, Clarity adjustment, handheld HDR feature
  • 240 fps

But that’s all just speculation from my side. Nobody knows the precise features yet.

The Fujifilm X-T4 will be announced February 25/26 (depending on your time zone here)

FAKE: No Imminent Fujifilm X-T3 Firmware 4.0 Update Coming

The screenshot above showing a Fujifilm X-T3 firmware 4.0 has been sent to me by so many FR readers today, that I simply must take position on it, or my phone will keep up ringing with messages about this firmware.

The screenshot has been shared on fujirumors comments here (original post on dpreview, but since then been removed).

So let me say it clearly: there is NO imminent firmware 4.0 for Fujifilm X-T3 coming, as the screenshot suggest.

The firmware has still to be developed, so it’s impossible Fujifilm is setting up the firmware page for imminent release now. The firmware will come much later, could be as late as summer, and the features have not yet been decided.

However, I have been told that the next Fujifilm X-T camera won’t have any sort of tetraphobia, and it will be called Fujifilm X-T4.

The Fujifilm X-T4 will be announced on February 26.
