Announced: Metz Mecablitz 44 AF-2 for Fujifilm X-series!

 photo sde_zps3asteo9o.jpg

Yesterday a New source told us that the Metz 44 AF-1 will get an updated very soon.

And today the update is official. Metz just released the Mecabltz 44 AF-2, with support for Fujifilm X-series cameras (the previous generation supported just the Nikon/Fuji hybrids, like the S series).

You can go through all the specs at the official product page here. There is also a German presentation of the Flash at the Swiss site fotointern.ch (translation), who says that the flash will be available at the beginning of December (this has been confirmed also by a New Source – thanks).

Coming Soon: Fuji X-series compatible version of the Metz 44 AF-1 Flash with on camera TTL capability – New Source

 photo dedee_zpskteeggkw.jpg

Will the current Metz 44 AF-1 Flash get an update very soon?

_ _ _

According to a New Source, Metz will very soon announce a Fuji X-series compatible version of its Metz 44 AF-1 Flash with on camera TTL capability (and maybe also slave function). The source says, that the guide number will remain the same (44), but there will be the addition of a multi-level LED.

Currently the Metz 44 AF-1 is available for the Nikon/Fuji hybrids, like the S series.

The first X-series compatible Metz flash is the Metz 26 AF-1 (specs & price), anncounced back in October 2014 and which, according to BHphoto here, should be available on December 22.

RUMOR: Fuji X Flash delayed because of Metz insolvency! (New Source)

 photo ddddd_zpsga0rmo0s.png

Flash Photography with the Fuji X system?
It can be done, but more flash-options are needed!

_ _ _

I’ve just received an email from a new source, with a bad news. And I’m afraid it’s true!

The source said that, during a Fuji event in Canada, a Fuji Guy told him that the long expected (and urgently needed) flash will be delayed, hence not come this spring as told us last year by a trusted source.

So was the trusted source wrong? No, it wasn’t. It’s just another case of a rumor shared too early. Fuji’s plan really was to launch this flash (rumored to be made by Metz) in spring, but the insolvency of Metz has changed everything…. the release of the flash has been pushed back.

I have no information about the fact if Fuji will continue to cooperate with Metz or if they are looking for a new partner, altough there are hints that they are looking at companies like Sunpak (see Sunpack Flash on Amazon).

DELAY: Release of the Metz Mecablitz 26AF-1 for FUJIFILM pushed back to April 20 !

 photo bla_zpsfux9y6yv.jpg

About a month ago I told you about the Metz Flash for Fuji, and as you can see from the screenshot in this post, BHphoto expected it to be available early February. But the release has been apparently pushed back, since BHphoto now expects to have it available in April 20!

I remind you that, this spring, also a new Fuji flash will be released (trusted sources). To know more about it, just check out the FR-rumor section.

thx, Craig

RUMOR: Upcoming Fuji Flash made with METZ… and some more specs! (anonymous source)

 photo asd_zps6f84ebaf.jpg

the Fujifilm EF-42 is one of the Fuji flashes available at the market. More flash units are needed…. a new flash could come in spring 2015

_ _ _

An anonymous source with nick-name (thanks) just shared with us the following information: The new (still just rumored) flash for the Fuji X System will be made with METZ. The features? Guide number 52, off shoe TTL, ABC grouping and to be announced at the CP+ in Japan (February).

This rumor confirms (partially) what shared earlier about this flash. In fact, previous rumors talked about wireless control, but the guide number was said to be 50. And as you might remember, a trusted source told us that it will be released in spring 2015. Another reminder: it is said to have HSS capability.

The anonymous source also confirms what Fujifilm told us back on the 24th of July: the XF90mm and the XF140-400 will be released at the end of 2015. It also said that the X-PRO2 would feature an 24MP sensor.

Message to sources: you can contact Fujirumors 100% anonymously via rumor box (maybe using a nick name so that I can eventually recognize you in future) or via email at fujirumor [at] gmail.com. Feel free to make my X-PRO2 rumor sleuthing a bit easier ;)

NEW Metz-Flash for Fuji, the Mecablitz 26 AF-1 digital

 photo asd_zpscfb64da1.png

Attentive FR-reader Jacek (thanks) saw that Metz recently announced a new flash (also for Fuji), the mecablitz 26 AF-1 digital.

This is a welcome addition to the still sparse Flash offer for the Fuji X-system. Fuji itself offers the Fujifilm EF42, the Fujifilm EF-20 and the Fujifilm EF-X20 Shoe-Mount Flash. But, as you know Fujirumors sources say that Fuji is working on a new flash (with HSS).

Also, I remind you that the TIPA awarded Nissin i40 for Fuji-X will be released November.

Finally, more flash units are coming!
