Fujifilm GFX: One of 2021 Most Praised Systems Gets a Roundup – GFX100S Adventure Film, GF110/2 vs GF80/1.7, GFX50SII and More

The year is ending, the internet is flooded by “best and worst” articles and videos, and at some point of the ranking the Fujifilm GFX system always comes out on the very top positions.

It happened for example with DPRTV here (who gave tremendous praise to the Fujifilm GFX100S) and with BH Explora here, who ranked both, the GFX100S and the new GFX50SII in the top 10 mirrorless cameras list for 2021.

Now, nobody can predict the future in the long term. So if the GFX system will keep up rising or not remains an open question whose outcome will depend on many things.

But if we look back on how it all started with the GFX system and where the system is now, then we can surely say that Fujifilm has set some solid fundaments on which they could potentially build up something very special.

So, in order to honor the big GFX year that we just had, we celebrate today with a dedicated GFX roundup that you can find below.

Iridient Developer 3.6.1 Released with Bug Fix for Fujifilm RAF, GFX50SII and X-T30II Support and More

Iridient Developer 3.6.1 has now also been released with new support for the Fujifilm GFX 50S II and X-T30 II.

This update also includes a bug fix for Fujifilm RAF automatic lens chromatic aberration corrections that could cause some color fringing along one or more edges of the image, often the bottom or left, with some camera/lens combinations. This update brings a few other general improvements and bug fixes as well to Iridient Developer.

You can download Iridient Developer 3.6.1 here.

Fujifilm GFX50SII in Stock Everywhere and GFX100S in Stock at Moment

The Fujifilm GFX50S II is right now in stock at BHphoto here at AmazonUS here and at Adorama here and soon in both versions, body only here and with GF35-70 kit here.

If you want the GF35-70 lens only, that one will start shipping on November 30.

Another little good news, you can now find a few Fujifilm GFX100S cameras in stock at Moment here. Sadly nothing yet on BHphoto here and an overpriced GFX100S is sold at AmazonUS via third party.

Well, a little good news among all the epic delays tons of Fujifilm X and GFX gear is suffering right now.

It’s All In Stock (in Europe): Fujifilm GFX50SII, Fujinon GF35-70mm and XF33mmF1.4

Good news first: several stores spread all over Europe have now the Fujifilm GFX50SII, Fujinon GF35-70mm and XF33mmF1.4 in stock.

In fact I have received los of emails by FR-readers (thanks a lot), who either got their sample already or found the gear marked as available at several stores. So it looks like over here in Europe Fujifilm was able to keep its word and ship the gear by late September / early October.

So if you live in Europe, check out your local store to see if they have the gear available.

An exception is of course the Fujinon XF23mmF1.4, which Fujifilm said would ship only sometimes in November.

The bad news?

Well, if you live in North America, then nothing shipped and nothing is in stock so far. Seems like Fujifilm prioritized European customers this time.

TT Artisan 11mm Fisheye on the GFX100s

by FR-reader Neil

I have attached some images taken with the TT Artisan 11mm Fisheye on the GFX100s so that people can see what to expect. Images are reduced to 2048 pixels on the long side for ease of email. (full size can be sent by WeTransfer if required.)

  • Image 1. Straight Out Of Camera converted to jpeg – No Editing. You can see the dark corners and blue fringing in the top corners.
  • Image 2. Edited in Capture One Pro 21. Lens Correction >Distortion set to Maximum sorts out the corners but keeps the Barrel Distortion look.
  • Image 3. Affinity Photo – Lens Distortion (Go Pro Hero 3-Black) applied and it gives a good rectilinear fisheye look. (Thanks YouTuber for the Go Pro settings for this lens body combination.)

The rest of the Blacksmith in action shots using the 30mm and 45-100 are better looking images, these are to show the different stages of editing you can get with the TT Fisheye. It is a cheap, well built lens that is up there with the top brand names for image quality (but all Manual – no electronics.)
