Two More Fujifilm Cameras Registered in China… probably Fujifilm X100F and X-T20!

Fujifilm registered two more cameras at the Chinese MIIT.

Fujifilm used code names, but these are very likely the Fujifilm X100F (all rumors here) and X-T20 (all rumors here), which I already told you won’t come this year, since the last X-series camera to come in 2016 will be the Fujifilm X-A10.  The site nokishita says they will probably in spring.

One thing is sure… 2017 is going to have a hot Fuji start, with the X100F, X-T20 and Fujfilm GFX ready to be launched. And if I look at the lens roadmap, then I’d say it’s high time for a new one, too.

And I also won’t stop dreaming of this camera ;)

Fujifilm GFX :: Current Pricing About $8000 (body + lens) – New Source

The Fujifilm GFX is now in the hands of selected photographers, who are testing it and giving their feedback to Fujiiflm. And every now and then, Fujifilm shares little tidbits at their youtube channel.

One of the happy beta testers is Philippe Marinig. Here are some of his comments taken from this youtube video: “I like reality, I like using natural light. […] I was very impressed by the GFX quality. […] The GFX seems to have no much limitation in terms of ISO as well. It’s freedom, no limitation. […] New Generation, exciting“.

And the lucky photographers, who can already use the GFX, share some tidbits now and then also at the Fujifilm GFX facebook group… so don’t miss to check it out.

With that said, let’s come to today’s rumor, which should be taken with a grain of salt, because it comes from a new source, and especially because Fujifilm can change the estimanted pricing anytime. I mean, the X-T2 price has been decided just shorty before its announcement, and in case of the X70, Fujifilm even changed the price 2 days after the announcement, when it was still in pre-order status.

All I can give you are estimated price tags at the moment, and, according to a new source, Fujifilm has currently set the price for the GFX at around $8000 (with lens).

This fits more or less with the price shared in Germany by a store and at this Vietnamese store.

Local Store lists Fujifilm GFX 50s for “about €8000” :: More Fujifilm GFX Hands-On Reports

The 3,500 members of the Fujifilm GFX facebook group are very active. Some had the opportunity to test the GFX and shared their feedback for example here, some other guys are fighting hard to get their hands on as first on the GFX, like E. Bouvet and J. Apruzzese here, and more feedback and images can be checked out also here.

So you see… the group is very active and sharing stuff that fast, that I simply can’t keep up with it on FujiRumors. So, if you are interested in the Fujifilm GFX, then I recommend you to join the Fujifilm GFX facebook group.

Now, there are still many questions open regarding the Fujifilm GFX, and one of the hottest is for sure about its price. I’ve reported in the past, how an official Vietnamese store and Fujifilm showroom listed the GFX (+ lens) for sale for $8500 (€7,700).

Another hint has just been spotted by GFX facebook member Boerckel here. He noticed the flier of a German Store, where the Fujifilm GFX 50s price is said to be “about €8000“. It’s not clear if they mean body only or with GF63mm lens. The image shows the camera with lens, whereas the product description does not mention the lens.

Some reactions from the comments here:

  • J. Lindalen: “kids won’t be getting christmas presents this year, I need to save up some $$
  • M. Kuhnreich “Ha, my kids aren’t even allowed at the dentist this year. Daddy’s portraits are going to look awesome, though!”

Fujifilm GFX Listed for Sale for $8,500 (with lens) at Vietnamese Fuji Premium Reseller :: POLL: How Much Would you Pay for the GFX?

Fujifilm GFX – Price

Official Vietnamese Fujifilm Premium Reseller (with Fujifilm Showroom) Phú Quang Camera has the Fujifilm GFX with GF 63mm listed for sale for 189.900.000 VND ($8,500 – €7,700) here. They also say it will ship in February 2017. – thanks to the FR-reader for the link :)

Now, I don’t think that, at this stage, Fujifilm has set a 100% final price on the GFX. The camera is still in development and Fujifilm can change the supposed price tag anytime until its launch. And as indicated by dpreview here and by Swiss Fujifilm Managers here, the camera is more likely to hit the market in Spring (early spring according to the Swiss Manager)

At the moment, the only official statement Fujifilm made is that the Fujifilm GFX will cost “way under $10,000 (exlcuding tax)“.

Well, let’s grab this occasion to launch a survey. Sure, we all want it as cheap as possible, but the poll is about how much you would spend ** maximum ** on the Fujifilm GFX + 63mm. What’s your uppermost investment limit?

Full dpreview Interview with Fujifilm Manager T. Iida :: Fujifilm GFX will Hit the Market in Spring!

spring

dpreview just pubished the full interview with well known Fujifilm Manager Toshihisa Iida. They talked about the Fujifilm GFX. Among the others T. Iida says here:

  • APS-C is more speed, more portability – that’s our X-series. And our medium-format is for ultimate image quality.
  • Fujifilm GFX: The challenge is how to get the light hit the sensor evenly – in the center and also at the corners. In order to achieve that we customized the microlenses . […] Also we optimized the silicon process. We spent a lot of time and resources on this kind of customization.
  • The challenges [of recording 4K Video] for every manufacturer are power and heat. And there are two ways minimize their impact. One way is to make the camera bigger. The second way is to make the video file smaller, by recording video from a cropped area of the frame. We think that it’s important to pursue the ultimate in quality, so on the X-T2 for example we tried to minimize the crop factor. Some manufacturers are offering crops of 1.5 X or 1.7X. This doesn’t help photographers at all.
  • We designed these new lenses to be future-proof. The potential resolution of these new lenses is much higher than 50MP. Our benchmark is 4700 line pairs. So the lenses can resolve at least 100MP.
  • Probably, in 2 years time, the size of the mirrorless market will exceed the market for DSLRs, globally.
  • The smartphone is not the enemy, it’s a complement to a camera. And how to enable connectivity between a smart device and our cameras is very important. We will focus on making it faster, smoother.

You can read this and much more in the dpreview interview here. They also gave us a more precise idea of when the GFX will hit the market. According to dpreview it will be spring (so late March/April at earliest)

Medium Format Fujifilm GFX 50S :: Full Press Conference Video + Additional Coverage (and NEW Images) + NEW INSTAX 1:1

shared at the Fujifilm GFX Facebook Group

Time to make some order.

Fujifilm just announced the Fujifilm GFX 50S, a 50MP mirrorless Medium Format Camera. It will be launched along with 3 lenses in early 2017. Overall Fuji has 6 lenses in the raodmap.

  • Standard prime “GF63mmF2.8 R WR” (equivalent to 50mm in the 35mm format)
  • Wide-angle standard zoom “GF32-64mmF4 R LM WR” (equivalent to 25-51mm in the 35mm format)
  • Mid-telephoto macro 1:0.5 “GF120mmF4 Macro R LM OIS WR” (equivalent to 95mm in the 35mm format)
  • Fast aperture mid-telephoto “GF110mmF2 R LM WR” (equivalent to 87mm in the 35mm format)
  • Ultra wide “GF23mmF4 R LM WR” (equivalent to 18mm in the 35mm format)
  • Wide “GF45mmF2.8 R WR” (equivalent to 35mm in the 35mm format)

Fujifilm said that some lenses can resolve over 100MP. To me, this means that it is “future proof” for when the Fujifilm GFX 100S will hit the market, the 100MP successor to the current 50S version.

But let’s get back to the present.

The Fujiflm GFX 50S will cost less then $10,000 with lens and viewfinder (that’s Fuji’s “commitment”). The viewfinder is interchangeable. You can attach a tilting EVF to it.

Fuji has released the official Press Release here.

FXF Admin Andreas has made available all official product images of the GFX and lenses here.

There is a dedicated Fujifilm GFX Facebook group here.

Here are some new tidbits shared by other sites, who where present in the press conference.
