Fujinon XF23mm Pancake Lens Coming in 2025 – Renderings and Wishes!

We recently reported that Fujifilm will launch the Fujinon XF23mm pancake lens.

This reminded me of a guest post we shared in the past by Pablo, who made rendering about how such a lens could look like.

I thought that given the rumor, we could re-share his renderings and trigger a discussion about how you guys would like the Fujinon XF23mm to be.

Should it be ultra-mega compact and have an f/2.8 aperture? Or make it a big bigger but give it an f/2 aperture as in the renderings above, making it more of a “muffin-lens” rather than a “pancake-lens”?

As reference, you can see how such a XF23mm muffin-lens version would compare in size to the current Fujinon XF23mmF2 R WR. Too close in size? Better make it even smaller and f/2.8, making it closer in size to the Fujnon XF27mmF2.8 R WR?

BREAKING: Your Most Wanted Fujinon Lens is Coming in 2025 !!!

→ In Short: you can think of it as the merger of these two lenses

Last year Fujifilm asked us which one is our most wanted lens.

And there was one lens, who won the survey hands down by a very large margin.

The very same lens also won our own mega lens survey back in 2022.

Well, according to our trusted sources (THANKS) Fujifilm will launch exactly that lens in 2025.

Fujifilm to Bring Improved Image Quality and Colors to Vivo X200 Ultra Phone – Report

According to rumors surfaced on the web, Vivo is cooperating with Fujifilm for the next Vivo X200 Ultra smartphone.

The phone will use Zeiss optics, and as far as I understand, Fujifilm will provide the imaging software in order to get “more professional results” through image quality improvements and better color reproduction.

Now, I have no idea how reliable these rumors are. But if true, then Vivo has shown lots of wisdom ;).

Anyway…

We remind you that Fujifilm patented its own foldable smartphone, and we reported about it here.

And yes, software can play a significant part in the image quality results. In fact, it was Fuji’s software that convinced them to go with GFX, as we told you here.

Luca Petralia has a great video about it, which I will share below.

A Look into 2025 Fujifilm Rumors (and Beyond) and the Ultimate 2024 Rumor Check

Rumor 2025+ Overview with Rating

Time to check how accurate our rumors were in 2024 and get an outlook on the remaining rumors for 2025 (and beyond) with reliability ranking.

As usual, I will be brutal and merciless in my rumor accuracy rating.

How brutal?

Well, here are two examples.

I told you the X100VI would be basically same in size of X100V despite having IBIS. The difference is 1mm. Well, turns out it is 2mm thicker. So while it is substantially an accurate rumor, I list it as wrong.

Also, we misunderstood a source regarding the X100VI silver color. We needed only 3 hours to clarify this misunderstanding and correct it. But still, for 3 hours only, an inaccurate info was online.

WIth that said, here is how things went:

  • 99 rumors shared in 2024
  • 24 rumors still to be verified
  • 72 correct rumors out of 75 verifiable rumors
  • 3 wrong rumors (normal people would say 1 wrong rumor -not about Fujifilm-, but I am brutal to myself)
  • 96% correct rumors

  14. Fujifilm Launches Dedicated Fujifilm Film Simulation Website
  15. CONFIRMED: Fujifilm X100VI Announcement on February 20 (and More?)

Did FujiRumors get it right?

I am surprised to see such a high interest for the Fujifilm X-M5.

A bit less surprising is to see film simulation content on the top of the ranking, especially with Classic Cuban Neg, which has quickly become a Fujifilm users favorite.

This article of 2022 still gets great views, too.

I hope you enjoyed checking out FujiRumors in 2024. And if you want, stick around also in 2025, because I have the feeling it could be a very interesting year.

Love you guys!
