And yet another X-TransII camera has been discontinued by Fujifilm… and it’s Fuji’s most successful camera so far: the Fujifilm X-T1! Go to Fuji’s official Japanese site here, and you’ll read that the “production has ended“.
The only X-TransII cameras still in production at this stage, are the Fujifilm X100T, the Fujifilm X70 and the X-E2s.
RUMOR FLASH: It’s a long term rumor, but it comes from a Trusted Source (thanks for your ongoing support): Profoto will add Support for Fujifilm X series in 2017!

VERY OLD NEWS RELOADAD
XF50mmF2 WR + Fuji Photokina Page
Here on FujiRumors you are used to get the news as soon as it happens, in real-time… and quite often also before it actually happens.
But it can happen, that sometimes someone of you guys might miss a news. That’s why you should check out FujiRumors every day, and you’ll be sure to be first to know about Fuji’s present… and future ;)
So here are two news, that are currently “brand new” according to some, and I keep getting emails about. So I thought it might be time to share it again, so that I won’t get any emails anymore.
Photokina Page
The dedicated Fuji Photokina Page is an old News, shared by Fujifilm on August 25, and also shared on FujiRumors on the very same day. But it seems some might have missed it, since this new page has been launched along with the XF23mmF2 and X-A3. Of course I’ve shared this news in the Live Blogging. But here is the link again.
XF50mmF2 WR
In the X-A3 First Look on Youtube, Fuji Guy Billy mentioned a mysterious XF50mmF2 WR lens. Some people where really surprised by this, and thought Billy just announced a new lens. So time for a short recap: I’ve shared rumors about the 50mmF2 WR back in May here. The lens has the been officially shared in Fuji’s roadmap already back on July 7, Fuji even showed pics about it at an event, and the X-magazine already told us it will come in Spring 2017. So no… Fuji Guy Billy didn’t announce the XF50mmF2.
What’s more interesting, though, is that he mentions the expertise Fujfiilm has in making Medium Format lenses… who knows why ;)

XF100-400 Review at photozone. From the conclusions:
“The Fujinon XF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR impressed me quite a bit – not only in the lab but also in the real life. Honestly I was almost about to purchase the lens from the rental company (but I kept my sanity). The center sharpness is very high throughout the zoom range. The borders/corners are also very sharp between 100 and 300mm. Expect slightly softer corners at 400mm though (but then who cares here). Lateral CAs are not a real issue. Most users will keep image auto-correction activated thus neither distortions nor vignetting are issue in this case. The native characteristic isn’t quite as good here though. The quality of the bokeh is very decent for such a lens – at least technically – but don’t expect wonders regarding the depth-of-field at conventional focus distances.”

Fujifilm just made the Complete Fuji X Series Guide available for download here. It includes the brand new XF23mmF2 WR and the X-A3 – LIVE BLOGGING HERE.
X-shooters know it: Fujinon lenses are just amazing…. and it gets better year after year.
But at the same we X-shooters know, that we are just a marginally niche in the photography world.
And just like Photozone, I also have a hard time to understand, why such an amazing system is not more successful. Photozone says at the end of their XF16mmF1.4 WR review:
“Honestly, given the depth and quality of their lineup, it is quite surprising that Fujifilm isn’t more popular. I, for one, think that it is the best mirrorless system out there (at this stage) and it just got a bit better again.”
You can read the Photozone XF35mmF2 WR Reviewhere. From the conclusions:
“Center quality is great and the borders are also impressive. The corners aren’t quite as good but decent. It is worth mentioning that the quality, primarily the contrast, decreases at very close focus distances. This is probably also the reason why Fujifilm limited the lens to a min. focus distance of 0.35m (1:7.5) which is longer than usual. Lateral CAs are quite low. From a real life perspective, vignetting and distortions are also nothing to worry about. That being said, the Fujinon is slightly underdesigned. It relies on auto-correct to compensate its high original distortions and vignetting. […] the AF is now both very fast and silent.
Finally we have to answer the question how the Fujinon XF 35mm f/2 R WR compares to the Fujinon XF 35mm f/1.4 R. When looking at our ratings the answer is obvious. Yes, the f/2 lens is sharper at all overlapping apertures. The weather sealing as well as the faster AF are also on the plus side. Yet .. nothing beats speed but more speed. If you simply require an ultra-large aperture as well as a superior bokeh, the XF 35mm f/1.4 R is still the better choice – also because it isn’t that much more expensive nor much bigger.”
The XF16mmF1.4 WR Review can be read here. From the conclusions:
“The Fujinon XF 16mm f/1.4 R WR may not knock your socks off like the XF 90mm f/2 R LM WR but it is a capable performer nonetheless. The center quality is just fine at f/1.4 whereas the corners show some softness – emphasized by field curvature. However, how often do you require sharp corners at such a setting anyway? Stopping down to f/2 lifts the quality substantially and it’s impressive from f/4. Lateral CAs are negligible but we spotted a bit of purple fringing in extreme scenes. The amount of vignetting is good unless you disable auto-correction. The (native) amount of distortions is very low for a 24mm lens. The bokeh is surprisingly decent for a lens in this class albeit not without weaknesses.
A source (thanks!) just send me a real life image of the Fujinon XF23mmF2 WR mounted on the Fujifilm X-T2.
And let me say this: I just love that tiny XF23mmF2 WR Lens Hood! Looks very different (and even more compact) compared to the XF35mmF2 WR Lens Hood. This with the X-Pro2 will be the perfect Street-Combo!
Both, the Fujinon XF23mmF2 WR and the Fujifilm X-A3 will be annouced on August 25. Live Blogging on FujiRumors… don’t miss it :-)
I know, Fujifilm said it in the official Press Release and all the stores also say the same: the Fujifilm X-T2 shipping will start on the 8th of September (that’s the “shipping embargo” date).
However, a trusted source would like me to share with all of you, that Fujifilm decided to start shipping the Fujifilm X-T2 already in late August.
Of course, I never doubt what my trusted sources tell me. In fact, it already happened in the past, that they shared information with us, that contraddicted everything that Fujifilm has said, announced and even shown to the world… and yet our sources where right ;) .
Now, since this trusted source contacts me anonymously via rumor box (using a nick name) I’d like to ask it, if this is valid for all the world, or just for some countries.
KEEP IN MIND: shipping might start late August, but it will take longer until the X-T2 is marked by stores as “in stock“.
Why is the X-T2 shipping earlier?
But why is the X-T2 shipping earlier than originally announced by Fujifilm?
I don’t know it, but maybe the Firmware is now finalized. Hence, Fujifilm can now upload it on all the X-T2’s, put that beauty in a fancy box and send it straight to X-shooters all over the globe!
Or maybe the Fujifilm X-T2 pre-orders were lower than Fujifilm expected, so that the company can start shipping the X-T2 earlier than expected.
But that’s just all speculation. What matters is that, those, who pre-ordered very early, might get their X-T2 already within the end of August…. if no last minute bug is found ;)
