New Meike Hand Grips for Fujifilm X-T2, X-T1 and X-Pro2

Meike has introduced new hand grips for X-T2, X-T1 and X-Pro2

Meike X-T2G hand grip for X-T2 improves the grip on the camera and reduces the chances of camera shake, especially when using heavy, large aperture lenses. Can be used as a quick release with compatible tripods. This metal grip can be left in place when using a tripod and enables users to change the battery and SD card without having to remove the grip from the body.

Fujifilm X-T1 Snaps World Wildlife Photography Image of the Year – Animal Portraits Award

World Wildlife Photography Award

Hm… this must be fake news, because everybody knows that only full frame cameras can be used for Pro work…

… and yet, here is today’s story ;)

The wildlife photography award of the year is the benchmark for wildlife photography. And this year, one of the winning images has been snapped with by Peter Delaney with his Fujifilm X-T1 and XF50-140 in extremely difficult conditions: in the rainforest with very dim and tricky light.

The image called “Contemplation” won the “animal portraits” award, which the organizers of the award call “our most popular category every year“.

“Peter had spent a long, difficult morning tracking chimpanzees through dense undergrowth. ‘Photographing in a rainforest with dim light and splashes of sunlight means your exposure settings are forever changing,’ he says. Keeping his camera at its optimum ISO setting meant a slow shutter speed, so it was hard to keep a sharp focus without a tripod. The troop of 250 chimpanzees had spent the morning high in the canopy. Totti, named after an Italian footballer, is a favourite with the rangers, but perhaps not the ladies. After trying everything to entice a female to join him on the ground – posturing, gesturing and calling seductively – he gave up and flopped onto the forest floor.”

To know more about the image and also see the other stunning images, check out nhm.ac.uk. You can also find the whole list of winning images at theguardian and bbc.com.

The whole award was trasmitted in live stream and is now available on youtube. It’s worth every second, but here on FujiRumors I will highlight only the parts that are relevant for Peter Delaney’s image.

Minute 1:28:47 here: discussion about the image + interview with Peter after he won the award. I like the adivce Peter gave to wildlife photographers to take better images. “Practice, practice, practice. And keep looking at the work of other artists, be it in sculputre, in painture… it doesn’t matter what the medium is. Keep looking at art, and eventually everything begins to sink in and then you recognize a great image, when it happens.”

Minute 43:41 here: award speech of Peter Delaney

Congratulations Peter from me and the entire FujiRumors community.

And thanks to the FR-reader for passing us the news :)

Fujifilm X-T100 Will Have a Viewfinder

Fujifilm X-T100 with EVF

Hey guys, here is an update regarding the Fujifilm X-T100.

The Fujifilm X-T100 will have a viewfinder.

I know many of you are sceptical about this camera, but I think it makes a whole lot of sense.

Fujifilm needs a cheap 24MP camera with viewfinder to compete against the Sony A6000 & Co. I mean, price matters, and this is why the Sony A6000 is often the Nr.1 best seller at the AmazonUS MILC ranking.

The Fujifilm X-T100 could be, for many, the perfect “starter drug” into the X-system. And the more people buy entry-level Fuji, the more Fuji has chances that they will upgrade camera/lenses at some point, and invest more money into the Fuji X System.

Stay tuned on FujiRumors on Facebook, RSS-feed and Twitter for more…

have a GREAT Day,

It was March 10th, 2017 when I participated a discussion here on Fujirumors about the “Replacing the X-T1 Rubber Grip” issue.

I had my bending door replaced the first time in September 9th 2015.

I spent 15€ for shipment but I had it replaced for free because my camera was still under warranty (I bought it in March 2014). At that moment X-T2 wasn’t on the market and when the camera came back I knew that the grip was just the same as it was out of the box. No surprises there.

As the grip was the same, the next summer I had the same problem as the summer before: with the heat, the USB door bended again. It was making me mad. I tried everything, from the duct tape to the reverse bending after heating up the rubber with a hairdryer. Nothing worked.

This time the problem affected all the grip and it was starting to unstuck in several points: the from the handling, from the MCS selector in the front and near the back/disp button.

I was really upset so I decided to send the camera back in after the summer.

It was February 8th 2017 when I sent my camera to the repair center.

This time the camera’s warranty was expired so I was expecting to pay from 50€ to 150€ for the service, as it was told me by the local seller I asked to.

But here comes the surprise.

Fujifilm X-T100 Currently Planned with Bayer Sensor

Fujifilm X-T100

Last week I told you here that Fujifilm is right now working on the Fujifilm X-T100.

I don’t have much details, and the camera might be still in a relatively early development stage. So take everything with a grain of salt, because you know how Fujifilm can change (or scrap) just everything at every moment.

With that said, here is an update regarding the Fujifilm X-T100… it should have a Bayer sensor.

So Fuji’s APS-C MILC line could look like this in future:

Fujifilm Rangefinder Style:
Fujifilm X-A line (Bayer) – entry level
Fujfilm X-E line (X-Trans) – mid range
Fujfilm X-Pro line (X-Trans) – high end

Fujifilm DSLR Style:
Fujifilm X-T100 line (Bayer) – entry level
Fujfilm X-T10/20 line (X-Trans) – mid range
Fujfilm X-T2 / X-T2S line (X-Trans) – high end

Goodbye Fuji X-T2: Why I FINALLY had to let it go at LivingVertical Youtube

The Good, The Bad and The Freedom to Say it All

I love the Fuji system.

And yes, sometimes I just can’t contain my enthusiasm and excitement for the Fuji X and G systems, which brings me to write long emotional articles when a camera gets discontinued or lose myself in a frenzy of happiness for a rumor, when I could have said everything with 1 headline and saved a lot of my spare time.

That’s who I am… can’t change it… deal with it ;)

However, this is FujiRumors… and I know that this blog is a big source for all things Fuji for many of you guys.

That’s why my number 1 priority will always be to deliver honest, good, fair, fast and accurate service to you… even if it means that sometimes we have to talk “bad” about Fujifilm.

So here on FujiRumors we are are free to…

  • write about my main 2 complaints on the Fujifilm X-T1 – read here
  • launch polls investigating why people don’t buy Fujifilm (highlighting the weaknesses of the system) – read here
  • We love Kaizen, but recently called the Wireless Tethering feature a Joke – read here
  • When we think Fujifilm is losing the path (and its “soul”), we report (and comment) about it – read here
  • When reviewers give negative feedback about an important key feature of a new camera (such as the hybrid viewfinder on X100T), we will report about it – read here
  • FujiRumors is regulary the first place that reports about issues and bugs, such as the mushy buttons on the first batch of X-T1’s and more

I’ll just quickly add, that I can do this only because I have absolutely 0% contacts with (and zero favours/money/support from) Fujifilm, which gives me an immense freedom to write whatever I want.

You guys, the FR-readers, are my only boss… and all I want to do is to deliver you the best content and rumors possible.

The Roundup

The Fujifilm X-System is not for everybody. Depending on what your needs are, you may be more or less satisfied with it. Some people love the X-system so much, that they can live with minor issues (maybe waiting for a Kaizen Firmware to fix it), some others just have to return their Fuji camera, just like LivingVertical did with his X-T2 (video above) or alastairarthur did with his X-Pro2 (link below).

But there are also many very happy Fuji users out there, who keep up producing great work with their Fuji gear (such as Kevin Mullins’ recent wedding Photographs)… and I’m happy to share them in this roundup, too.

You Get $650 Bonus (!) if you Trade In Your Camera for Fujifilm GFX50s… and Fujifilm X-T1 + XF18-135 Discontinued

GFX Trade In Deal

Yesterday, Fujifilm launched some Fujifilm GFX 50s trade in deals. There was quite some confusion, because it seemed like you’d get a total of $650 discount on GFX, if you trade even super expensive cameras you can sell for much more on eBay.

However, usually it works like this (also here in EU). As FR-reader Unknown Alien said: “the $650 is a bonus rebate if you trade in the camera at a local shop or any authorized dealer plus the trade in value of the gear“.

Now that deal makes sense :)

BHphoto and Adorama have a dedicated Fujifilm GFX Trade in site here. Check it out for all the details.

However, nothing beats the amazing $700 instant rebate AmazonUS is offering on the Fujifilm GFX 50s… which definitely helps to boost sales, since the Fujifilm GFX 50s is now a top selling mirrorless camera at AmazonUS ranking! Expired :(

We know already that Fujifilm is no longer producing the Fujifilm X-T1… and I gave it an emotional farewell here. We also know that Fujifilm launched incredible deals on X-T1. So, if you are interested to take advantage of the deals, don’t hesitate any longer.
