Upcoming lens rebates not tied into a body purchase + X-E2 $100 off at BH, Adorama & Amazon

 photo bh_zps291fd54a.jpg

Another new source confirms: there will be lens deals soon, and they will start on the 9th of February.

The source also said that:

what’s significant about the upcoming lens rebates is, that they are not tied into a body purchase like previous promotions.

This source said that the deals will end on March 22 (the previous source said March 2nd)

Always according to this source, the 56, 10-24, 18-55 and 50-230 and the 16-50 are not included in the rebates. On all the other lenses you’ll save from $150 to $250! For example, you could get the XF 27mm for just $200 and the XF 55-200 for $500!

As you know, the body-deals just started. The source told me when they will expire (… take it with a grain of salt):

X-PRO1: from 2/2 to 4/5/14
X-E2: from 3/2 to 4/5/14
X-M1: from 2/2 to 4/5/14
X20: from 2/2 to 3/1/14
XQ1: from 2/2 to 3/1/14

 photo samyang_zps1a74eadd.jpg

Samyang said it on November 18th here: all their existing lenses will have X Mount in future… and now it begins!

You can now purchase the Samyang 85mm f/1.4 for $299 at BHphoto here and the Samyang 14mm f/2.8 for $399 here. You can find the 85 also at AmazonUS for $399 (Rokinon 85 f/1.4 here) and the 14mm for $499 (Rokinon 14 f/2.8).

For a review about the Samyang/Rokinon 14mm check out davedillonphoto here: “The Rokinon 14mm f2.8 ED AS IF UMC lens is flat out impressive at its price point of $399 USD. Its built well, fun to use, sharp as hell, and produces some really fantastic images when used correctly. That being said, the [shoplink 12888]Fuji XF 14mm F2.8[/shoplink] will most definitely produce nicer images with less distortion and vignette. However, it’s more than double the price!”

XF 120-400mm: is this the super telephoto zoom lens in Fuji’s roadmap?

 photo pic_02_zps3ebd9e00.jpg

First off: this rumor comes from a new source.

According to this source, the mysterious „super telephoto zoom lens“ in Fuji’s roadmap will be an 120-400!

No details about the aperture.

It’s a new source, so you should take it with a grain of salt.

NOTE: Rico started a 10-24 sample set (full size SOOC, including X-T1 RAF’s converted with Iridient) on Flickr here… stay tuned for his first look soon.

_ _ _

Hi all

Just about 2½ months after it hit the market, there is already the first $100 price drop on the X-E2 (body and kit) available at BHphoto here (all combinations)! At the moment, AmazonUS has only the black body with a $100 rebate. There are also other X-cameras in offer, just check them in the overview down below (save up to $300!).

But that’s just the first part of Fuji’s aggressive deal-attack!

Always according to the new source (who told us yesterday of the upcoming lens rebates), the lens deals should start on February 9th and end March 2nd (or 3rd).

The savings should go from $150 to $250.

If the source is right, you could get the [shoplink 13829]XF 27mm[/shoplink] for just $200 and the [shoplink 12892]XF 55-200[/shoplink] for $500! But also other XF lenses will be a lot cheaper.

So don’t buy lenses until February 9th!

I got this information via rumor box, so take it with a grain of salt:

“Fuji will be running a US rebate on most cameras and lenses beginning this month. X-E1 for $599. 27mm for $250 off. 55-200mm for $200 off. + lots more!”

In fact, several X-bodies are already in offer, just check the list below… (there is also a very hot deal on the X100S which will expire tomorrow, via digitalrev!)

For those who switched to the X-series by purchasing the X-T1, a good chance to get a lot of lenses for a good price… if this rumor turns out to be true! We will soon see.

[admin: Australian FR-Michael is currently travelling in South America. He had troubles with his X-PRO1 and 55-200 lens. Here is how the story ended]

I sent an email off to Fuji HQ and they got back to me instantly, sending emails to both Fuji Aus and Fuji Sth America asking to help me out. Fuji Aus got onto me and helped me out big time! Seriously their customer support is amazing, they had a trouble shoot for me and it appears to have worked. I was even having troubles with my 55-200 and they offered to send me a loan lens from Aus to help me out.. I was blown away with how awesome they are.

Any way I just did another update on my site about my trip.. check it out, share it if you like!

Marko Vesterinen

Hi Patrick

Would like to start thanking you for all the amazing work you put into the Fujirumors site! Well done!

Just wanted to share my Fuji story with you.

This summer i took a big decision. I had started to notice that more often i left my D800 at home and just took some pictures with the iPhone. This clearly was not the way i should be.

So a month before i was heading for Iceland for a 8 day long road trip i sold all my Nikon D800 gear and went all in Fuji. I bought the X-Pro1 and 14mm, 18mm, 35mm and the 50-200mm

So did the Fuji deliver on the Icelandic Road Trip? Yes totally! You can check out the pictures on my site.

http://www.ishoot.se/iceland

I also went to Norway for an another Road Trip. This time we were extremely lucky we definitely  managed to be at the right place at the right time. The weather was amazing, the fall colors just had exploded and to top this there was a European Triumph TR meeting going on! Spectacular landscapes and amazingly beautiful classic cars at the same spot. Jackpot!

Pictures from this trip can be seen here:

http://www.ishoot.se/norway-ii

Since that day in May this year i haven’t looked back at all. My X-Pro1 is with me almost every day and i love it!

Now the time has come to pay a visit to the homeland of the Fuji. Im leaving for Tokyo next sunday and the X-Pro1 comes with me. Just a small change to the lens setup. The 18mm is sold and the 23mm is now glued to the X-Pro1 :-)

Keep up the good work!

Adobe: improved X-Trans support soon (film simulation support)!

 photo adobe_zps025c6281.jpg

Something is moving at Adobe (click here)…. it’s whispered that the company will soon improve the support for the X-Trans RAF files. What I know about it until now is this:

I’ve been told that, with the next update, Adobe Lightroom and Camera Raw will support Fuji’s Film Simulations. So you can finally put the Fuji X-Trans RAF’s in Lightroom and the software will be able to reproduce faithfully the various Film Simulations mode (Provia – Velvia – Astia – ProNeg Hi – ProNeg. Std – B&W Monochrome +Ye+R+G).

It will be compatible with every X-cameras, including the X-T1!

P.S.: But that’s not the only good news I’d like to spread today. Canadian readers who purchase the X-T1 until March 31 will get the vertical grip for free. Check it out.

And a must read in these days:  Rico’s X-T1 first look here!

Last Second Rumors: XF 16-55 and 50-140 will be weather sealed too!

 photo 1743145_10201338659763630_2051566384_n_zpsb4f51697.png

I just came back from my work, when FR-source drphotorumor shared this information with me. As to expect, other lenses shown in the new roadmap will be weather sealed too:  the 16-55mm f/2.8 and 50-140 f/2.8!

In the meantime also digicame-info is working restlessly. Over at his website (click here) he just announced some prices for the grips (in Yen, obviously). All in all, I’d expect the vertical grip to cost between $/€ 200 – $/€ 250.

  • Estimated retail price of the vertical position battery grip VG-XT1 of X-T1 for about 25,000 yen.
  • Estimated retail price of the hand grip MHG-XT of X-T1 for about 13,000 yen.

My friends, it’s coming, and I hope my students will aplogize me, when tomorrow I’ll go at work just a “little bit” tired. I’m ready with coffee and some good music in the background…. and a lot of excitement!

You’ll have to manage your impatience just for a few more hours. Soon everything will be real!

And you should not miss today’s X-pert corner first look at the 56mm here.

January has been abuzz with product announcements and rumors. As you may expect, I will soon post another First Look X-Pert Corner article about the X-“you know what”, so let’s begin the week with a quick look at the new Fujinon XF56mmF1.2 R prime (click here for specs), a typical 85mm full-frame equivalent “portrait lens” with shallow depth-of-field for superior subject/background separation.

DSCF1027 – Lightroom 5.3, f/1.2

Please click in the sample images to see larger viewing options, or click here to see the full sample set.

With a bright maximum aperture of f/1.2, the lens is also suitable for available light photography. However, this bonus feature is somewhat offset by the lack of optical image stabilization. For crisp hand-held shots, one would typically use shutter speeds north of 1/80s. However, I managed to achieve pleasing results with speeds as low as 1/40s:

DSCF1106 – SOOC JPEG, f/1.2
SOOC JPEG

The XF56mm isn’t cheap by any means , but it may well be Fuji’s best X-Mount prime so far. Like it’s 14, 23 and 35mm siblings, it is fully optically corrected with a solid build, but still lightweight enough to fit well into the mirrorless tribe. It comes with aperture and focus rings (both “fly by wire”, as usual), and it really is—at least for me—a joy to use. Even wide open, I found the results of my January-built pre-production sample highly convincing. While minor axial chromatic aberration can sometimes be visible wide-open, there’s no visible distortion and no field curvature.

DSCF1060 – SOOC JPEG, f/1.2
SOOC JPEG

Autofocus is on the snappy side and fully compatible with the ever-improving hybrid PDAF/CDAF system of the X-E2 and future Fujifilm X-Mount cameras. And as you will soon find out here on X-Pert Corner, the XF56mm also does a very good job as an action lens. Who’d have thought?
