Silver/Graphite Fujifilm X-T2, X-Pro2 and XF 23mmF2 WR Announcement in January
The Silver Fujifilm X-T2
I’ve received a hint, that the silver Fujifilm X-T2 should be announced in January.
As you might remember, the silver Fujifilm X-T2 already appeared on the web several times, like on this Australian store. It was listed for sale for the same price of the black X-T2. The reason for the leak, is that at a certain stage Fujifilm planed to release both, the silver and black version at the same time, but then Fujifilm changed plans (as so often). Too bad, that stores already had the official documents that included the silver X-T2 and shared the images on their websites.
The Graphite Fujifilm X-Pro2
I’ve already told you a few months ago, that Fujifilm is planing to release a dark grey X-Pro2. Well, according to hints I got, also this one, just like the silver X-T2, should be announced in January. And it won’t come alone…
The Graphite XF23mmF2 WR
Fujifilm will also launch the graphite XF23mmF2 in January… making it the best companion for the new graphite X-Pro2 :)
Jonas Rask: The Fujifilm GFX is Clever, ACROS is Magic and X-T2 or X-Pro2?… and a Lecture About Streetphotography
We had so much rumors and gear talk lately, that sometimes it can give the impression that photography is more about the gear than about the image. So I thought it’s time to bring the FujiRumors-Universe in the right balance again, and share something that brings us back to the real heart of photography: the image.
And I’d like to do this with Jonas Rask’s (jonasraskphotography.com) lecture about his Street photography. He shows some of his amazing images, talks about composition and shares his take on photography in general. But he also talks about vintage lenses and what can we expect of the Fujifilm GFX. You can find the video at Fujifilm Nordic.
The video is 1:10 hours long. I’ve watched and enjoyed it all. The best part is when he talks about how he took his shots and the reasoning behind each of them. But it’s difficult to sum it up in short here on FujiRumors, so I will just share a few excerpts about more gear related thoughts.
- X-Pro2 or X-T2? Jonas prefers the X-Pro2, because it fits his style better, especially due to the hybrid viewfinder (he shoots mainly street photography) – starts min. 31:40
- ACROS: Jonas is a big fan! It’s impossible to emulate in Lightroom in post, because what it actually does in camera, is that it analizes the highlights of the image and adjust the grain there, then it analizes the midtones and adjust the grain there, and the same happens with the shadows. That’s why Jonas, when shooting BW, he just uses the ACROS JPEG. – starts 36:40
- Fujifilm GFX: Jonas just tested it briefly at photokina. It’s lighter and smaller than the Nikon D810. The lenses are bright, and you could probably do documentary stuff with the GFX, because you can have fast shutters speeds because of the fast aperture, reducing shakes. The GFX has 12 electrical pins, which should make it possible to adapt many old lenses, including leaf shutter lenses (very clever) – starts min 52:38

Top Gear 2016: Fujifilm X-T2 Best Advanced Mirrorless (ephotozine) :: X-Pro2 Best Camera (Wired) :: X70 Best Fixed Lens Camera (IR)

It’s the time of the year, where several popular websites declare their favorite cameras of the year 2016. And of course, Fujifilm is well represented ;)
So here is the first selection:
- X-T2 Best Advanced Mirrorless Camera at ephotozine:
“The Fujifilm X-T2 delivers excellent image quality, with high-speed focus, and excellent noise performance. Every new release from Fujifilm gets better, and the X-T2 certainly delivers great results. Fujifilm has also had an excellent track record of introducing new firmware to new and old camera models, and if this continues, then we can expect the X-T2 will also get better with time.”
- Gear of the Year: Richard’s choice – Fujifilm X-T2 at dpreview:
“I just chose the one I enjoyed the most. […] as we enter the last week of our loan period, the X-T2 is the camera I’m least looking forward to shipping back. I’ll miss it, and I’ll miss the encouragement that it’s given me. Merry bloody Christmas.”
- The Fujifilm X-Pro2 has been declared best camera 2016 by wired:
“While it may not be the fastest camera, or the best for traditional pro photographers, Fujifilm’s X-Pro2 is a blast to shoot with. It oozes quality in every way, and turns out amazing images thanks to Fuji’s stellar lens lineup. If you love photography the way we do, the Fujifilm X-Pro2 is worth getting to know.”
- X70 wins Best Enthusiast Fixed Lens at imaging-resource:
“For photographers who desire extensive physical controls, terrific image quality and a compact form factor, the X70 is the perfect camera and is our Enthusiast Fixed Lens Camera of the Year for 2016.“

Tethered (Wireless) Shooting for X-Pro2 (and X-T2) is Possible… with WiFi SD and a Free Plug-in!

We know the story… you can shoot tethered only with the Fujifilm X-T2.
But some X-folks were looking for solution to shoot tethered also with the X-Pro2… and they found it, by using a Transcend’s Wi-Fi SD card and this WiFiImport Lightroom Plugin by Frank Eberle.
So how does it work? Daniel Zihlmann will tell you the whole story in this blog post. A nice solution :)

Fujifilm X-T2 : “Best 4K Video Quality for APS-C Cameras. Better Colors Than Sony A6500…. but X-Pro2 has More X Appeal”
Fuji X-T2 Video
One of the big steps forward Fujifilm did with the X-T2, is Video. The combination X-TransIII sensor + X-processor Pro seems to deliver quite amazing 4K results. The lastest review that confirms this comes from videographer eoshd here. He says:
- The original X-T1 had the worst video quality around. The X-T2 has the best overall on any APS-C camera.
- The X-T2 delivers THE best 4K image overall. Better colour response than the Sony A6300 and A6500 and way less rolling shutter.
- The trick for maxing out dynamic range on the X-T2 is to slightly under-expose and set both highlight tone and shadow tone to -2 in-camera along with sharpness to -4.
But at the end, eosHD also says that “the X-Pro2 has more X appeal, a nicer design and more innovative viewfinder concept. I wish this model had 4K and an articulated screen but Fuji made the bet that one audience wouldn’t want it and the other audience would.”
