X-T1 FW will make Video Button a FN-button + Internal Fuji Lens Roadmap with 8mm, 200mm and… 33mmF1.0!

rurmoad

OK X-folks… after the latest announcements, I’ve updated my rumor ranking and saw that I’ve shared 87,27% correct rumors.

That’s waaaaay too high for a rumor site, and so I decided to take a little risk, and share a rumor I’ve just received from an anonymous source with nick-name (thanks a lot for sharing, btw :-) ).

The good thing is: it won’t take long to see if the information shared is correct or not… we just have to wait and see, if the X-T1 firmware will make the video button a function button.

But here is the whole story:

X-T1 FIRMWARE

FN

As you know, Fuji said there will be a new Firmware coming soon. Mostly it’s all about adding XF35mmF2 compatibility to current X-series cameras. However, there might be some extra tidbits, at least for X-T1 shooters.

In fact, the anonymous source says that:

A new firmware update for the X-T1 that will make the video button a function button… as well as some other unspecified updates!

LENS ROADMAP

The source also shares information about an Internal Fuji Roadmap.

there is an internal fujifilm lens roadmap that includes a 8mm, a 200mm and the 33mm.

Yep, it’s the 33mmF1.0. However, according to the source, Fuji is still working to fix issues like AF-speed, and at least this source says that it’s not sure that the XF33mmF1.0 will ever see the light of day! But I’m confident (read this rumor).

INSTAX WIDE

No plans for a wide instax printer at this stage.

Super-Fast XF 33mmF1.0 :: Will Fujifilm make it? A Trusted source says the die is cast, and the answer is… ?

33This is one of my favorite rumors of 2015. On April 20 a New Source told us Fujifilm is considering to produce a Super-Fast 1.0 lens (around 30mm). We all took the grain of salt… and started hoping.

Luckily, about a month later, on May 25, a source, who was right in the past, confirmed that Fujifilm has a 33mmF1.0 on the radar, but they were still discussing if they should really make it. Will the X-shooter community buy such a lens?

We tried to help Fujifilm in their decision, and dropped our vote in the following polls:

Between an X-Pro2 and X-E3 I'd buy...

And we waited… patiently.

So what, did Fuji finally made its decision? According to a trusted source: Yes, the die is cast! And the answer is….

… drum roll…

Yes! Fuji will produce it!

When will it come? I still don’t know, but you can be sure I’ll put my best into it not only to get multiple confirmation about this rumor, but also to give you an expected release date as soon as possible!

Medium Format X – Super Fast XF 33mmF1.0 – Fuji X-PRO2 :: 2015 Rumors Overview & Fact Check

 photo Cyristal Ball Empty_zpsh1g8dgp4.jpg

Here are the facts:

339 blog posts written (alone) so far in 2015
61 of them were rumors
out of 45 verifiable Rumors, 39 were correct (87% hit rate – which actually would have been even higher, if… well, check out the list below)
emails? I can’t count them… thousands?

Of course, I dream of a 100% hit rate, but I’m afraid that’s not possible. Over the years, hundreds of fake rumors have been send anonymously via rumor box. And no matter how much I work on it, an extremely small fraction of all the fake rumors will probably always make it on FR.

Moreover, here on FujiRumors I also share rumors about products that are still a long way off and Fuji can drop plans on those products (or change the release date) in any moment. So, a rumor that was actually right at the time of sharing, could become wrong, just because Fuji changed plans.

That’s a bit frustrating, and I sometimes think I should simply stop to post very early rumors. But overall I’m very satisfied with 87% correct rumors shared. Sure, the high hit rate won’t stop the permanent shitstorm on FR, but for sure not even a 100% hit rate would. Anyway, I got used to it after all these years ;).

Now, a part from the annoying bug fixes and occasional crashes of the site, the work on FR was mostly exciting (as the launch of the New Fuji X Forum and of the Fair Trade Fuji X Shirts – with over $2600 raised for charity) and I really had fun to dig up rumors about the X-series. I’ll try to keep it up and put my best into the rumors.

So let’s sum up all the rumors shared on FR so far this year (and also those shared in 2014 that still have to be verified), and categorize them according to their reliability.

Have a GREAT day,

1. Fujifilm should present a flash system for X series at the CES
2. Lightroom with X-T1 tethered support coming in February (shared 8 January 2015) – NOTE: a plug-in for Adobe tethered shooting was announced in February, but since I said a dedicated Adobe solution will be “released” in February, I consider this a wrong rumor.

4. X-T1 Firmware 4.0 postponed form June 18 to June 22 (shared June 3) – [NOTE: this rumor has been confirmed on June 7th by a Fujifilm Manager here. But, at the end, what the Manager confirmed is also wrong, since the a trusted sources corrected the manager and said the date is the 25, then 29]

6. Fujifilm Flash will come in spring 2015, guide no. 50 and wireless control (I’ve got feedback that the Metz insolvency forced Fuji to change plans, dealy the flash and to look for other partners).

Fuji really plans a Super Fast XF 33mmF1.0 (SRP)! POLL: Should Fuji go ahead and make it?

 photo POLL 33mm_zpsrprqlsvg.jpg

_ _ _

A source, who was right in the past (SRP), just gave me an update about the previously rumored super fast F1.0 lens.

The source said that it is true: Fujifilm is considering to make a super fast lens (at the moment planed as XF 33mmF1.0). The bad part of this rumor: it’s not a final decision of Fujifilm… plans could still be dropped.

So let’s help Fuji to make their final decision: do you think such a super-fast “prestige” lens (or call it “freak” lens) would be a good move by Fujifilm and how much you would eventually pay for it. And most important: how do we get away with buying the 33mmF1.0 and avoid divorce? An initial guide on How To Convince your better half can be found at our New Fuji X Forum… everyone can read it, and feel free to join the discussion with your own suggestions ;) .

About a Forgotten Fujifilm Camera, the Fujifilm X-T6, the Soul of Photography, Rumored Firmware Update and More – Top 10 October Articles

October was a month packed with rumors, thanks to the announcements of the Fujifilm X-T30III and XC13-33mmF3.5-6.3.

But interestingly, it wasn’t the X-T30III news that caught your attention the most.

By far the most-read article was the one about the Fujifilm XF1 — and the lesson Fujifilm had to learn from it. Not even the Fujifilm X-T6 buzz came close.

My (admittedly weird) “sort-of” X-E5 review squeezed into the 10th spot, which is not bad at all. But what you really wanted to read about was my switch to DxO — that one landed in 8th place.

I was also glad to see the “What We Lost When Cameras Got Better” piece reach 7th place. It proves that the FR-community isn’t just here for news and rumors — you also care deeply about the art and soul of photography itself.

Fujifilm X-E5 Beats X-T30III at Amazon’s Best Seller Ranking

Earlier today we reported about the first price drop in some EU countries on the Fujifilm X-E5.

I guess this means that in some countries, the Fujifilm X-E5 is not selling that well, especially after the announcement of the Fujifilm X-T30 III.

So out of curiosity I went to check the Amazon USA ranking for best new releases, since it is the only large retailer that I know of that has a sales ranking.

Well, we can see that at the time of this post the Fujifilm X-E5 is on the second spot, the X-T30III on the 5th spot.

Meanwhile, if we take a look at Amazon’s overall best-selling mirrorless camera ranking, the Fujifilm X-E5 is ranked #16, followed by the Fujifilm X-T50 at #23 and the X-T30 III at #36.

So, at least in some countries, like in USA, the Fujifilm X-E5 is currently selling well, maybe even Fujifilm’s best seller, which would confirm what a Fujifilm manager said here.

Fujifilm X-T30 III Performs a Miracle: FujiRumors Comment Section Turns Positive!

It looks like the brand new Fujifilm X-T30 III just did something I thought was almost impossible: it made people happy, even on the comments here on FujiRumors 😊

Because, let’s face it — over the last few months (or even years), there’s been a lot of critiques in the comments on FujiRumors every time Fujifilm launched something new (often I feel rightful critiques, but often I think also not).

In short: Fujifilm has faced its fair share of criticism with almost every recent release.

So, when the X-T30 III dropped, I braced myself before opening the comment section — expecting yet another wave of disappointment.

But much to my surprise… that didn’t happen.

In fact, the more I scrolled, the more positive reactions I found (with some negatives here and there).

Let’s quote a few:

OreganoSpliff: Well, I’m finding it hard to talk s**t given what you get for the money

Marcio K: xactly what I tought to be – the X-M5 in the X-T30 body. For the price, very interesting.

Stefan: £829 in the uk is super cheap. Just £30 more than the XT30ii was at launch

italianbreadman: This is the best thing they’ve done in years

If I were to judge only from the comments, I’d say Fujifilm did a lot of things right with the X-T30 III — mainly by holding the price around that magical 1K mark.

As I said before, the X-T30 III finally closes a huge gap in Fujifilm’s lineup — and it seems that most people appreciate exactly that.

Will it be a best-seller?
Only time will tell.
But honestly — it has all the potential to become a big hit.

I’ll leave you with a bunch of new hands-on reviews and podcasts below.

What’s the Best Pick? Fujifilm X-T30III vs X-T50 vs X-S20 vs X-E5 and XC13-33 vs XC15-45 vs XF16-50 vs XF10-24

So what is the best camera right now to get into the Fujifilm X system?

Well, the answer is of course very personal and it depends on your needs and preference.

However, if “compact size” is one of your top criteria (and you want an EVF), then it probably makes no difference if you go for the Fujifilm X-T30 III, X-T50, X-S20 or X-E5, since they are all pretty close in size as you can see below from the comparison taken from Camerasize.

So other factors will be more important in your decision.

For example, for me there is no competition: it must be rangefinder styled. So Fujifilm X-E5 is the way to go.

If you prefer PSAM dial instead, the X-S20 is pretty much your only (and excellent) option: a bit more expensive, sure, but you’ll get also IBIS and a fully articulating screen if that’s important to you.

If on the other hand resolution is a priority, then the X-T50 might be to consider.

If on a budget, though, I’d go for the X-T30III and compensate for the lack of IBIS with a stabilized lens, such as the XC13-33mmF3.5-6.3.

Speaking of XC13-33, I also wanted to compare it with the other wide angle zooms of Fujifilm (XC15-45mm and XF10-24mm) as well as the more higher end kit lens, the XF16-50mmF2.8-4.8.

I love how compact the XC13-33 is and so far from the first looks I have seen it seems to be a fairly priced lens for its performance (it costs $150 only if purchased bundled with the X-T30III).

But I am still kind of amazed by the XF16-50mm, an “ordinary” kit lens that comes with some more premium features like weather sealing, linear autofocus motor and an internal zoom.

So, if you don’t miss too much the range from 13 to 15, then I guess I’d recommend the XF16-50mmF2.8-4.8. Although, that’s not offered bundled with the X-T30III and the XC13-33mm becomes an unbeatable bargain if purchased bundled with X-T30III.

Stranger Things: What’s Missing and What You Might Have Missed About the Fujifilm X-T30III

The Fujifilm X-T30 III and XC13-33mmF3.5-6.3 are here, and they come with a few surprises.

There are some things you might have missed, some strange omissions compared to other Fujifilm cameras like the X-E5, and even a feature that makes it oddly superior (on paper) to the X-E5 despite being substantially cheaper. Let’s dive in.

Less Film Simulations, More Flexibility

The X-T30 III’s film simulation dial lacks of dedicated Classic Neg. and Nostalgic Neg. slots, unlike all other FS dials Fujifilm has released so far. But at least you can store recipes on the FS1 to FS3 position, like on my beloved Fujifilm X-E5 (you can’t do that on X-T50 and X-M5).

One Firmware Away from Auto Subject Detection Awesomeness

In full AUTO mode, subject detection automatically switches between people, animals, and other subjects (train, car, etc.), just like on the X-S20. It’d be great to have this fully automatic detection in regular shooting modes too.

Here on FujiRumors we are asking for it since 2023 and we also have shared a simple idea on how to implement it on every Fujifilm camera with subject detection.

So please, Fujifilm. You are just a few firmware code lines away from making this happen!

EVF Strangeness

I hope to be wrong with this one, but I have not seen it mentioned anywhere: it looks like the Fujifilm X-T30 III does not have my new favorite EVF “classic display mode”. I love it on my X-E5, and I don’t understand why Fujifilm couldn’t put it also on the X-T30 III.

LCD Strangeness

The Fujifilm X-T30III is substantially cheaper than the Fujifilm X-E5, and yet it features a higher resolution LCD than the X-E5. Look, in real life this does not matter, and yet it is interesting to note that.

Instax Love

in the image size settings, besides the usual 1:1, 3:2, 16:9 etc settings, there are also “instax mini”, “instax square” and “instax wide” settings: those setting record compressed JPEG/HEIF in a shape matching those Instax formats. Shooting 1:1 format has higher resolution than 1:1 Instax Square format.

Also, you can directly print to Instax printers.

6K – Same Same, but Different

6K modes on 40MP models are cropped in wide screen shape, but on 26MP models it’s 6K open gate.
