Fujifilm Announcements: X Summit BKK on May 24, New Firmware for 12 XF/GF Lenses and FujiKina on May 27

Fujifilm has released a video where they finally announce what FujiRumors is telling you since a weeks: there is no Fujifilm X Summit in April, but it will take place on May 24 (as we told you) in Bangkok. Fujikina will take place on May 27 also in Bangkok.

This is what they say in the video.

  • they talk about the new firmware updates for X-H2 and X-H2s (Frame.io integration)
  • they announce new firmware for XF/GF lenses that reduces focusing noise with certain linear motor AF lenses, smoother aperture operation and improved focus tracking performance during zooming
  • GFX Grant Challenge program updates
  • Fujifilm X Summit in Bangkok announced for May 24
  • Fujikina Bangkok on May 27

FujiRumors has so far rumored two cameras and one lens.

Maybe some of this (or something else) will drop on May 24.

Fujifilm Releases Significant Firmware Updates for Many XF/GF Lenses (plus X-A3, X-A10, XA20)

Fujifilm has released firmware updates for plenty of lenses that will make the autofocus more silent, the aperture operate smoother and also give better tracking performance while zooming.

That’s a very nice upgrade especially for video shooters.

Not all lenses will get all these three updates. You can find the full detailed list below.

CP+ Images: Fujinon GF30mmF5.6 Tilt Shift and GF/XF Roadmap Lenses, Tamron 11-20mmF2.8, Voigtländer 35mmF0.9 and 27mmF2

Fujifilm Digesting 2022

CP+ started today.

Fujifilm has not announced anything, but I guess we still have to digest all the stuff they launched last year, which was:

It’s fair to give Fujifilm a little break, given how busy they were in 2022.

Fujifilm 2023 Teasers

GFX SYSTEM

What Fujifilm did for CP+, is to tease upcoming products for 2023.

They showcase a mock-up of the upcoming Fujinon GF30mm f/5.6 Tilt Shift lens, but not of the Fujinon GF110mmF5.6 Tilt Shift, which, according to the statements Fujifilm managers did during the September X summit, should also come in 2023.

They also show a silhouette of the Fujinon GF55mm f/1.7, which personally is the lens I am looking forward the most. We already shared hands-on images of the GF55mmF1.7 here.

X SYSTEM

For the X system, we get a silhouette of the Fujinon XF8mmF3.5.

The Fujinon XF8mmF3.5 became part of the Fujifilm X mount roadmap and during the X summit in May 2022.

Fujifilm did share technical sketches of the lens in May already, and we used them to compare the size of the Fujinon XF8mmF3.5 to other wide angle lenses such as the Fujinon XF14mmF2.8, the Zeiss Touit 12mmF2.8 and the Laowa 9mm f/2.8 (but the Laowa has no autofocus.

Third Party Lenses

But if Fujifilm did not launch anything at CP+, to make the beginning of 2023 interesting for Fujifilm shooters are third party lens manufacturers.

We have the lovely Tamron 11-20mm f/2.8, a couple of new Voigtländer lenses, the Samyang 75mm f/1.8 as well as Sigma 23mm f/1.4 coming soon and even a couple of new AF Yongnuo lenses.

Some of those lenses are at display at the CP+ in Japan right now and you can find the images below in this article.

I will share all images in this article and below you can find the link to the sources.

& More

Not only autofocus lenses. Also the recently announced Tokina SZ 300mm PRO Reflex F7.1 MF CF is displayed at CP+,.

Coming in 2023: Yongnuo 23mmF1.4, 33mmF1.4 and 56mmF1.4 Autofocus Lenses for Fujifilm X

A few days ago we shared an image of a mysterious 33mm f/1.4 autofocus lens for Fujifilm X mount and we speculated it could be a Yongnuo lens.

Well, our speculations were correct. And moreover, this will not be the only AF lens coming from Yongnuo for Fujifilm.

Yongnuo will launch the following three lenses autofocus for Fujifilm X mount according to the Camerabeta at the Chinese Weibo social media here.

  • Yongnuo 23mm f/1.4
  • Yongnuo 33mm f/1.4
  • Yongnuo 56mm f/1.4

The new Yongnuo lenses are going to have some stiff competition:

Yongnuo 23mm f/1.4 vs…

Yongnuo 33mm f/1.4 vs…

Yongnuo 56mm f/1.4 vs…

Good luck Yongnuo!

Given the latest rumors, news and pre-announcements, it is time to update our full list of third party AF X mount lenses.

Multiple Third Party X Mount AF Lenses Could be Coming Soon: SIGMA 23mmF1.4, TAMRON 11-20mmF2.8 and SAMYANG

Third Party X Mount AF lenses

Latest leaks, rumors and speculations suggest that the Fujifilm X System might grow of several third party autofocus lenses very soon.

Two lenses are confirmed at this point. One lens is not confirmed, but there are hopes for it come soon.

So let’s put some order in the latest rumors and speculations.

SIGMA

As we reported here, the specs for the Sigma 23mm f/1.4 DC DN have leaked. It will come also for Fujifilm X mount. So that’s sure to come soon.

It will be Sigma’s fifth autofocus lens for the X system in addition to the four they already offer here.

SAMYANG

This is a rumor that comes from our sources. Also in this case the announcement should be imminent. We don’t have additional specs for now, but it will come and it will be Samyang’s second AF X mount lens after the Samyang 12mm F2 AF.

TAMRON

Undoubtedly the lens most of you desire (as we can see from this survey): the Tamron 11-20mm f/2.8 Di III-A RXD.

Now, at this point there are no rumors about it. All we have is a rumor that Tamron is having an announcement on February 22.

Tamron has basically already said back in 2021 that they will release the Tamron 11-20mm f/2.8 also for Fujifilm X mount. Let’s hope that February 22 will finally be the day.
