Fujifilm Will Release a Dark Grey Fujifilm X-Pro2 – Trusted Source

Graphite X-Pro2 Mock-up by FR-reader Everaldo

Dark Grey X-Pro2

According to a trusted source, Fujifilm has a dark grey Fujifilm X-Pro2 in the pipeline. In the Fuji world everything can change quickly, but for now the release is set to 2017.

I’m not sure for now, if it will have the same color of the graphite X-T1 or be even darker. For sure it won’t the the bright silver we know from the X-E2 or X-T10.

Just like the X100 black limited edition and the graphite X-T1, also the dark grey Fujifilm X-Pro2 should be more expensive than the regular black one.

Handheld Impressions from Photokina 2016 :: The Biggest Fail of the Fujifilm X-Pro2 :: RAW or JPEG? – Palle Schultz

I discovered and started following Palle Schultz’ work (and youtube channel) 4 months ago, after I saw him wearing one of my fair trade T-shirts at the Fujifilm Nordic “Behind the frame” Series… btw, we raised $3,500 for Free Education for kids in Cambodia.. ;).

Back to Palle Schultz: as an official Fuji X Photographer, he had access to the behind the scenes of the Fuji booth (and to the GFX), and he decided to document his stay at Photokina 2016 in his original video “Handheld Photokina 2016 Impressions” (filmed with X-T2). It’s a good way to close the 1 week Photokina marathon… no more interviews, no more talks… just video, music and editing by Palle himself.

I’ll share two more videos from his youtube channel below, “The biggest fail of the Fujifilm X-Pro2” and “Should you shoot RAW or JPG, with Fujifilm cameras?”

EISA AWARDS :: Fujifilm X-Pro2 Best Professional CSC and XF100-400 Best CSC Zoom Lens!

EISA AWARDS 2016-2017

XF 100-400mm + 1.4xTC (save $349): BHphoto / AmazonUS / Adorama
X-Pro2 + Lens + Free Domke F-5XB Bag (save $300): BHphoto / AmazonUS / FocusCamera / Adorama

There were times, when the EISA Awards were just a joke!

There were so many categories, that every company could win several awards. I remember categories like “Best Connected Camera” (won by Samsung) and EISA was even able to distinguish between “professional“, “advanced” and “premium” cameras.

And quite frankly, it’s still mostly like this. There is an award for (almost) everyone.

But at least they dropped some of the non-sense categories… and I hope they will continue this way. Less categories and more real prestige to the winners!

That said, let’s take a look at this years’ winners.

Fujifilm won two awards, one goes to the Fujifilm X-Pro2 for the “Best Professional Compact System Camera” and another one goes to the XF100-400 for the “Best Compact System Zoom Lens“.

The Sony A6300 got the award as best “pro-sumer” CSC.

Two (2) Reasons Why the AF-Tracking of the X-T2 (and X-Pro2 Ver.2.00) is Much Better Than on the X-T1!

From TheCameraStore to DigitalRev… most X-T2 reviewers so far seems to be impressed by the new Fuji AF-speed, especially in continous shooting mode. So the question is: how was it possible to achieve such a significant improvement? There are two main reasons, as Fujifilm explains here:

Reason 1 for better AF-Tracking

The new technology has been developed to allow increased number of AF search between the frames. There used to be only one AF search between the frames, but this is now increased up to 10. This will allow better tracking on the moving subject between the frames. […] longer live-view means that AF search can be conducted for longer period of time.”

Reason 2 for better AF-Tracking

The AF search can now be processed in parallel. The breakdown of AF search is “Exposure”, “Read”, and then “Process”. The new algorithm allows so that each step can be conducted simultaneously. It means that while the first AF search is being “processed”, the second AF search starts to “read”, and the third AF search starts the “exposure”. By doing so, multiple AF search is now possible in the short interval.

NOTE: The X-Pro2 will get the new AF-algorithm via Firmware Update in October 2016. However, the AF-C Custom Settings, introduced with the X-T2, will not be part of the Firmware udpate. If you don’t know what the X-T2 AF-C Custom Settings are, check out this Review.

TIME :: Andrew Quilty Documents Life in Afghanistan with Fujifilm X-Pro2 + Is the X-Pro2 the Perfect Reportage Camera?

Fuji X-Pro2 Photojournalism

Today’s story brings us deep in the heart of Afghanistan, where since three years now Andrew Quilty is documenting the ongoing war and life, using mostly the Nikon D810.

But since a few months he added the Fujifilm X-Pro2 + XF23mm lens to his equipment. And looking at the EXIF data of his images, it seems that more and more of his work is now done with the X-Pro2. You can see his images at the TIME magazine here.

Many of you won’t be surprised by the fact that Andrew chose the X-Pro2 to document life & war in Afghanistan. As these Poll results clearly show, the majority of X-shooters believe that the Fujifilm X-Pro2 fits really well with certain styles like Street, Reportage, Documentary photography.

But what is it that makes the Fujifilm X-Pro2 so popular for these Photography Genres?

Maybe it’s the sleek and simple rangefinder style. Maybe it’s the corner placement of the viewfinder, which allows you to have the left eye free to see the whole scene. Or maybe it’s the OVF, which has the huge advantage to actually show you what’s happening outside your frame (and to save battery life). And maybe (just maybe) it could be, for some, even the lack of a tilt screen: one less thing to worry that could eventually break, especially when shooting in flustered and chaotic situations like conflict zones.

Maybe all these little things (and more) together make the X-Pro2 the ideal tool for the street and reportage.

Whatever it is… at the end of the story we have an X-shooter out there, who gets his hard job done with the X-Pro2… a work that is worth to be checked out at the TIME here.

If you ever read this Andrew Quilty, keep it up! And FujiRumors will always be happy to eventually share, if you want, your experience with the X-Pro2 in Afghanistan.

And thanks a lot to the FR-reader for the link. :)

When most photographers think of shooting sports, they think of 400mm glass on the 50 yard line. When I think of sports, I think about ultra-wide, ultra close. That said, any sporting event involves fast moving action and the need for equipment that can both quickly respond, and take a bit of abuse. These things were on my mind when I covered The Race of Gentlemen this year.

XPRO7720

Once a year, tattooed and heavily bearded men (and a few women) gather in Wildwood, New Jersey, and take over a section of the beach. With beer on tap, loud music, and louder motorcycles and cars, this motley crew waits for the tide to recede and then grinds up the sand racing antique vehicles down a quarter-mile. Known as The Race of Gentlemen, the event is a celebration of a time long passed.
