Fujifilm X100VI to Cost €1,799 (and $1,599?)

I have been asked about the Fujifilm X100VI price in Euro.

Well, according to our trusted sources, it will be €1,799.

And one more thing regarding the price in US Dollar.

I told you recently that according to a new source it would be of $1,599 (hence $200 more than X100V). I also asked you to take it with a grain of salt for now until I can confirm it by trusted source.

Now, given that the price in Euro will be €1,799, the US price of $1,599 is definitely realistic.

As a reference:

  • X-T5 costs $1,699 in USA and €1,999 in Europe
  • X-H2 costs $1,999 in USA and €2,249 in Europe

So there is this 250/300 difference between the USD and EURO price. And if confirmed, there would be a 200 difference also between the US/EURO price of the X100VI.

But an anonymous source (who decided to use a nickname – THANKS), gave us a different price in USD. I am now checking that information (and also the rest you’ve sent me, thanks a lot), and will share an update here on FujiRumors. And if I can’t check the price in a reasonable time with my trusted sources, I will share the one given to me by the anonymous source anyway.

It’s just, usually when I need to correct a potentially wrong rumor, I want to to be sure the correction is 100% the final word on that particular rumor. That’s why I take a bit of time to try to get it confirmed by trusted sources.

It could also be that both sources are accurate, just one source got a more updated information than the other.

Fujifilm really loves to change its mind on the pricing a couple of times before they release the gear. And actually it also happened that Fujifilm made rapid changes shortly after announcement, as for example with the Fujifilm X70, which was launched for $799, and just a few days after launch, while still on pre-order, Fujifilm lowered the retail price to $699 as you can see here.

Anyway… I will try to figure out which is the most up to date information.

SUSPENDED: Fujifilm Removes Latest XF16-55mmF2.8 Firmware and Promises Emergency Update

A couple of days ago Fujifilm has released several (also major) firmware updates. And they also promised Kaizen firmware updates coming.

The news today is that the firmware update for the Fujinon XF16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR was flawed and has now been suspended from the Fujifilm download page.

Fujifilm is preparing an emergency firmware and FujiRumors will let you know as soon as it goes online.

In Ver. 1.30 released on January 22, 2024, it was confirmed that the exposure of images taken with certain focal length and aperture value combinations became abnormal.
For this reason, the firmware download has been suspended.
We are preparing an emergency firmware for customers who have updated to Ver. 1.30, so please wait for it.

You can access the note about the removed firmware update here.

Hopefully it won’t end up forgotten and suspended forever like the GF50mmF3.5 firmware.

Fujifilm X100V Discontinued at Several Stores: Giving Up on X100V Delivery and Getting Ready for Fujifilm X100VI?

Fujifilm Gives Up on X100V

Japanese stores are usually the first to mark items as discontinued or in general giving us indications on what’s happening with certain gear.

The X-T4, X-E4, GFX100, XF56/F1.2 and much more gear got first marked as discontinued in Japan before anywhere else on the world.

And today we get another significant hint: many stores in Japan have now completely delisted the Fujifilm X100V from their stores, such as Map Camera, Bic Camera, and Yodobashi Camera. Some stores mark it as “we finished sale“.

It looks like Fujifilm has at this point just given up delivering all those Fujifilm X100V people have still on order, at least in Japan.

And it’s not the first time: the same thing happened with the Fujifilm X-E4, where lots of people had one on order, patiently waited to get it shipped, but then out of nowhere Fujifilm canceled all orders and discontinued the X-E4.

The Last Samples

In USA the Fujifilm X100V is still listed at stores.

At Amazon you can find some samples in stock (at the time of this post), but at a higher price.

But I guess it won’t take long at this point that also US stores will mark the Fujifilm X100V as discontinued.

A Bad Move?

The X100V is huge missed opportunity for Fujifilm. They could have made tons of money with it, but just were incapable of manufacturing enough sample to meet even a small fraction of its massive demand.

To me it looks like Fujifilm just gave up on shipping the X100V at this point.

My guess (not rumor) is that they decided to use all the parts they have still available for X100V and re-use whatever they can of those pieces for the manufacturing of the Fujifilm X100VI (for example the lens, which is the same on both cameras).

I am not sure this is a smart move: I mean, give up on lots of money you can make right now in the hope to make money with another model in future. The best solution would have been to just finally solve that chronic parts issue, which other manufacturers seem to have fixed but Fujifilm still struggles a lot with.

Vote Your Top (Realistic) Fujifilm Kaizen Firmware Wish

Kaizen Dreams

Time to launch our first survey of 2024.

And I thought we make it Kaizen firmware poll.

Now, I am well aware that in terms of firmware requests there could be endless possibilities. So guys, feel free to unleash your firmware wishes in the comments.

But for the purpose of this article I decided to keep the survey as small and “realistic” as possible.

This means I will include in the survey only features that Fujifilm has already implemented on some of their 5th generation cameras, but not all of them.

We are talking of the fully automatic subject detection mode present in this little and lovely Fujifilm camera and a couple of features present only on Fuji’s most high end camera.

It’s a total of seven features that hopefully will find its way also on the Fujifilm X-T5, Fujifilm X-H2 and Fujifilm X-H2S.

NOTE 1: I think all features above are pretty clear. Maybe only “custom focus zones” could create some confusion, so here is an extract of the GFX100II owners manual (vs X-T5), so you know what is meant.

NOTE 2: I have no rumors about future Fujifilm firmware updates (sadly).

NOTE 3: I think that articles like this one can help to push Fujifilm to release more firmware updates if….

  • many of you vote the survey
  • many of you comment down below

So, vote and comment as much as you can :).

I picked my top wish already and it’s this one!

I would like to get via firmware update (max. 2 selections)

“Forgotten Negative” Film Simulation Recipe

Forgotten Negative

As I am writing this, I am on a bus ride back home.

Just to pass some time, I decided to scroll through the images shared at our Fujifilm Film Simulation group.

During my scoling, I stumbled on a post by Timothy (Instagram), who shared some lovely images taken with his own film simulation recipe that he calls “Forgotten Negative“.

You can find sample images in the posts below.

I love the look of the sample images and I thought it’s something you might want to try out.

In fact, I am programming it now also on my Fujifilm X-T5 while sitting in the bus and I have taken my first Forgotten Negative image just from the bus window. Can’t wait to try it out more in the next days.

Fujifilm X-T6 in 2024? Let’s Talk about it!

After I have shared my Fujifilm 2024 – What’s Coming article, lots of you dropped me comments and emails, indicating that there should be also a Fujifilm X-T6 in 2024.

The reason why so many of you believe 2024 will be the year of Fujifilm X-T6, is because the X-T line got refreshed every two years:

  • 2014 = X-T1
  • 2016 = X-T2
  • 2018 = X-T3
  • 2020 = X-T4
  • 2022 = X-T5
  • 2024 = X-T6?

So an X-T6 has to come in 2024, right?

Well, it could be.

I have no rumors telling me it won’t come in 2024. So it’s possible.

But the list above does not really tell the whole story.
