In their latest Video here, the Fuji Guys talk about the various Fuji Flash options you have for the Fujifilm X-T2. All nice and good, but as you know, and as also written in Rico’s First Look Review, the Fujifilm X-T2 does not work with the Nissin i40 in TTL mode. I wish Fuji and Nissin would rapidly look for a solution in form of a firmware fix.

VERY OLD NEWS RELOADAD
XF50mmF2 WR + Fuji Photokina Page
Here on FujiRumors you are used to get the news as soon as it happens, in real-time… and quite often also before it actually happens.
But it can happen, that sometimes someone of you guys might miss a news. That’s why you should check out FujiRumors every day, and you’ll be sure to be first to know about Fuji’s present… and future ;)
So here are two news, that are currently “brand new” according to some, and I keep getting emails about. So I thought it might be time to share it again, so that I won’t get any emails anymore.
Photokina Page
The dedicated Fuji Photokina Page is an old News, shared by Fujifilm on August 25, and also shared on FujiRumors on the very same day. But it seems some might have missed it, since this new page has been launched along with the XF23mmF2 and X-A3. Of course I’ve shared this news in the Live Blogging. But here is the link again.
XF50mmF2 WR
In the X-A3 First Look on Youtube, Fuji Guy Billy mentioned a mysterious XF50mmF2 WR lens. Some people where really surprised by this, and thought Billy just announced a new lens. So time for a short recap: I’ve shared rumors about the 50mmF2 WR back in May here. The lens has the been officially shared in Fuji’s roadmap already back on July 7, Fuji even showed pics about it at an event, and the X-magazine already told us it will come in Spring 2017. So no… Fuji Guy Billy didn’t announce the XF50mmF2.
What’s more interesting, though, is that he mentions the expertise Fujfiilm has in making Medium Format lenses… who knows why ;)

XF100-400 Review at photozone. From the conclusions:
“The Fujinon XF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR impressed me quite a bit – not only in the lab but also in the real life. Honestly I was almost about to purchase the lens from the rental company (but I kept my sanity). The center sharpness is very high throughout the zoom range. The borders/corners are also very sharp between 100 and 300mm. Expect slightly softer corners at 400mm though (but then who cares here). Lateral CAs are not a real issue. Most users will keep image auto-correction activated thus neither distortions nor vignetting are issue in this case. The native characteristic isn’t quite as good here though. The quality of the bokeh is very decent for such a lens – at least technically – but don’t expect wonders regarding the depth-of-field at conventional focus distances.”

Maybe the Fujifilm X-T2 Autofocus is really blazing fast!
But let’s go step by step:
Do you know Nathan Wright (ohm-image.net)… yep, the one, who wrote the Novoflex Review series for Fujirumors. Well, if you followed him in the comments here on FujiRumors in the past, then you will know he had no fear to criticize Fujifilm, also very hard, whenever he thought that Fuji deserves it.
Well, Nathan had the chance to put his hands on a production X-T2, and here is what he just shared on Twitter:
If even Nathan says it, a photographer, who was never scared in the past to criticize Fujifilm under several aspects, then I start to believe that all this is not just a hype!
And that’s not all.
FXF member HendrikOsula tested both, the Fujifilm X-T2 and X-Pro2, at the Summer Biathlon World Championships 2016. And he says here that the “X-T2 is kicking X-Pro2s butt […] I completely missed only few shots out of hundreds!” For his full report (and images) click here. NOTE: don’t forget the X-Pro2 will get the new algorithm in October, too.
Moreover, the very popular French site lesnumeriques (translation) says that the AF of the X-T2 is “formidable” and “it is also excellent in low light“. Overall they consider the X-T2 a “rival for the most impressive DSLRs!”
It was an ultra-long wait, with several delays, Metz insolvency and what not… but it seems it could soon be over. In fact, the Fujifilm EF-X500 flash will be released on September 29 (via dc-watch).
But I tell you… I’ll believe it only when I see it!
Fujifilm also released a new firmware for the Instax Share SP-2 Printer (VER 01.19). This new firmware makes it possible to send images from Fujifilm digital cameras via Wi-Fi to an instax SHARE Smartphone Printer SP-2 for instax instant film prints. Applicable X-series Models : X-Pro2, X-T2, X-T1, X-T10, X-E2S, X-E2, X-M1, X-A3, X-A2, X-A1, X100T, XQ2, XQ1, X70, X30.

*Request – I have just been informed that one of my photos has been nominated for an award. I would greatly appreciate it if you would support a fellow Fuji X-shooter by clickingthis linkand like, love, or comment on my black and white portrait. Thanks to all of you, and to Patrick for suggesting I add this request to my post.
I recently had the honor of documenting the union of Anna and Hayden Taylor. They are a cute and fun couple, and I thoroughly enjoyed shooting them. I should also mention that Anna’s mother, Charla, was kind enough to provide me with a shot list, and kept everything running smoothly that day. It was arranged to be an intimate ceremony with close family in the living room of the Groom’s parents’ home. It all sounded like the perfect scenario for photographing my first wedding.
So was it all rainbows and unicorns? Not quite…
I had just switched from a Sony a7R II camera to a Fuji X-Pro2 the month before. I absolutely love the Fuji, but I still haven’t mastered it like the Sony. Moreover, I got a bad copy of the 16-55mm zoom-lens and was in the middle of an exchange – so I didn’t have it for the ceremony. Therefore, I went looking for a second body. I almost bought another X-Pro2, but I got a great deal on an Olympus Pen-F and two prime lenses the night before the big day. Suffice it to say, I had not mastered the Olympus either.
As for lighting, I purchased an on-camera speedlight, a Diva ring-light, and a small LED continuous light array. My wife also suggested I bring her light-gun, so I stopped by her studio on the way to meeting the bride, and her mother, at the salon. When I got to my wife’s studio she told me her light gun was “in the attic.” So I proceeded up the stairs to a little loft area where she keeps some of her equipment.
The salon was very nice, but was pretty crowded (which I’m sure is normal for a Saturday), so it was hard to find a good shooting position, but I managed to get a few nice portraits.

Last January marked my 20th year as a self-employed photographer. A lot has changed in those years. But there was, however, one constant. From the start on I made most of my images with Fujifilm. Of course, back in 1996 the Astia, Provia and FP100C was ordered in bulk. Those films where loaded in the one camera I used from the very start, and I still use, on a daily basis, today.
Fuji GX680
My true workhorse. Even though it regularly feels like the workhorse is me… Nope. It’s the Fuji GX680. (Not the Fujifilm. The Fuji. Ironic; the cameras that used film did not have the “film” added in the name, the digital camera’s are FujiFILM cameras…) It was one of the biggest investments I made when I started.
A brand-new Fuji GX680, with 65mm, 100mm and 210 mm lenses. and some accessories: An extra long bellows for close-ups, rail extender for the same purpose an a wide-angle bellows. It was actually a little to expensive for a starting business, but I wanted it! The other big investment was lighting equipment. Since I am a fan of quality gear I chose Broncolor lights. I still use many of those lights today. So choosing quality gear paid off for me.
A camera system still in use after 2 decades is remarkable. Sure, some lenses where repaired or replaced, because of broken internal flash-contacts. But the reliability after so many years exceeds my expectations.
Now, in 2016 the camera and lenses can not be repaired anymore. But there is a reasonable amount of second-hand gear out there. I even bought brand-new lenses for it on Ebay. Bought a spare camera just to be sure. Had the battery-packs adapted and the cells renewed. But it is still there. In daily use. Not with the film-back, but with the Leaf Aptus 65. A 28 megapixel back, top of the line in 2006. Still the old Fujinon lenses are superb. The focusing is great. The tilt-shift the GX680 offers is awesome.
Fast forward: X-pro. To answer the question that pops up in Fujifilm users heads; Both. First the X-pro1, with the XF18mm and XF27mm. Later a XF56mm was added. The X-pro1 taught me to shoot in a different way. Very different from the DSLR’s I worked with earlier. More intuitive. Less menu’s. Superb feel.
