29 products, the largest number ever, received the world-famous “Red Dot Design Award”
Ultra-short throw projector “FUJIFILM PROJECTOR Z8000” won the highest award “Best of the Best Award”
Products in various business fields are highly evaluated for their designs that realize not only beautiful appearance but also excellent functions and performance
Fujifilm Co., Ltd. (President: Kenji Sukeno) is a “Red Dot Design Award: Product Design 2021” sponsored by the “Nordline Westfalen Design Center” based in Essen, Germany. We are pleased to announce that 29 products such as the instant camera instax “Cheki” series and the digital cameras “X series” and “GFX series” have won the “Red Dot Design Award 2021”. Among them, the ultra-short throw projector “FUJIFILM PROJECTOR Z8000” won the “Best of the Best Award”, which is the highest award of the same award.
This time, 29 products, which is the largest number ever for our company, have been awarded, and this is highly evaluated for the design that maximizes not only the beautiful appearance but also the excellent functions and performance.
The “Red Dot Design Award” is an international design award established in 1955. It is judged based on criteria such as design innovation, functionality, ergonomics, ecology, and durability, and is awarded to excellent products. This award is one of the three major design awards in the world, along with the “iF design award” in Germany and the “IDEA” in the United States. This year, about 7,800 entries were submitted from all over the world and were judged by internationally active design experts.
We pursue functions and performance in the development of all products and services, and are working on design development that maximizes the excellent functions and performance. Going forward, we will continue to aim to create new value for our products by realizing designs that are not limited to the beauty of the exterior design, but are thoroughly focused on easy and comfortable operability and portability.

Here is the thing:
I keep getting feedback from FR-readers all over the world, about when their local stores will be able to ship the Fujifilm GFX100S. And they all tell me the same: best pre-orders for any GFX camera. Waiting time is long.
I have one on pre-order, too, and I can confirm this also from my local store.
And although waiting is the hardest part, I also know I have tons of X series gear to photograph the wedding of my friend in July (if COVID allows) and to take epic shots of my local mountains, the Dolomites in South Tyrol.
So, I am well equipped and I can wait for the GFX100S, as my X series gear is and will always remain the best balanced system of all systems out there.
So why GFX for me?
Well, because going full frame makes no sense for my needs.
It’s really a negligible difference compared to X-Trans APS-C (and I highlight “X-Trans!”). What I miss from current FF systems is certainly not image quality, but some features like animal AF for example, a feature Fujifilm was offering as first company ever with the Fujifilm F80EXR 12 MP Digital Camera. So Fuji, just take out those old algorithms and make them fit for Fujifilm X and GFX.
If I am looking for a camera that offers me a sensible jump in image quality for my landscape photography, then I better explore the world beyond full frame, with a sensor that is 70% fuller than full frame and camera that is smaller than the full frame Panasonic S1 series and cheaper than the Sony A1.
So, for me, it just makes sense to add the GFX system to my camera bag.
And it seems that many thought this way, as the Fujifilm GFX100S is, according to our latest survey, the most owned Fujifilm GFX camera among the FujiRumors community already
Yep, you heard it right: in just a few weeks the Fujifilm GFX100S surpassed all other Fujifilm GFX cameras in terms of sales here on FR.
This is something Fujifilm wasn’t even dreaming of. Now their Nr.1 challenge will be to ship that good thing.
And since we have so many new Fujifilm GFX100S owners, I was curious to know, which system you are coming from.
Of course, those who pre-ordered the GFX100S qualify as GFX100S owners and hence can vote the survey. You can tick more than 1 box if that applies to you.

Well, I had the impression that the Fujifilm GFX shooters reading FujiRumors were more than the 3% of just 2 years ago.
But I wouldn’t have expected this:
According to our latest survey, 13% of FujiRumors readers now own a GFX camera.
So now comes my next curiosity: which one is the Fujifilm GFX camera you chose to shoot with?
And since we talk GFX, I’ll add a survey about on which lenses do you own. Also in this case, if you have a GF80mmF1.7 on pre-order you qualify as GF80mmF1.7 owner.
So, fellow GFX owners, feel free to drop your vote down below.
Also, you can let us know if you what kind of photographer you are.
There is only one positive thing in having to wait so long for my Fujifilm GFX100S: I have more time to think on which GF lens I should get.
What does not make my waiting easier, though, are all the stellar reviews the Fujifilm GFX100S is getting by photographers all around the world.
Some, like Dollar Store Creative, say it is so sensational that it should not exist and they just cry in front of those amazing files, which can be mistreated to taste and yet keep holding up no matter what.
Others, like Joseph Ellis, used it also for weddings and share their initial thoughts about it (which we will sum up for you below).
And more down below.
If you are like me, hence waiting for yours to be shipped, I warmly invite you NOT to check them out. It won’t make the waiting easier.
