It Happened: Fujifilm Price Increase Effective Today – New Prices Up 8-15% (One Item Up 43%)

We told you that Fujifilm will increase prices on August 1st, and so it happened.

Now that the new prices are official, I will list them all below and I will also add by how much (USD and %) the price increased (because some of you asked me that in the comments).

The price increases are between 8 to 15%, with only one item seeing a hefty 43% price increase. The 43% price increase is already visible at Adorama here, but other stores like BHphoto here and Amazon here still show the old price for now (I guess that will change soon).

I hope some of you have saved some bucks thanks to FujiRumors warning you ahead of the imminent price increase.

Last-Second Fujifilm Best Sellers – Before Prices Go Up in 2 Days (in USA)

A few days ago, we informed you that Fujifilm will raise prices on almost all X and GFX gear, and we also shared the full list of upcoming prices here.

I’ve now checked on what’s been selling best through FujiRumors affiliate links—and here’s the current top-selling gear, just two days before the price hike takes effect.

If there’s anything you’ve been thinking about getting, now’s the time to grab it at the current lower price.

NOTE: All the price increases listed below apply – obviously – only to the U.S. market. That’s why I’m sharing prices in U.S. dollars only—not in euros, yen, or any other currency. Will other regions see increases too? I don’t know. I have no info so far. My guess (not rumor) is that so far price increases are planed only for USA.

  1. Fujifilm X-T5
    BHphoto / Amazon / Adorama / Moment / BestBuy / Paul’s Photo
  2. XF70-300mmF4-5.6 R LM OIS WR
    BHphoto / AmazonUS / Adorama / Focuscamera / Moment / Paul’s Photo
  3. NP-W235
    BHphoto / Amazon / Adorama / Moment
  4. XF18mmF1.4 R LM WR
    BHphoto / AmazonUS / Adorama / Focuscamera / Paul’s Photo
  5. X-S20 body
    BHphoto / Amazon / Adorama / Moment / BestBuy / Paul’s Photo
  6. XF16-55mmF2.8 R LM WR II
    BHphoto / AmazonUS / Adorama / Moment / Nuzira / Paul’s Photo
  7. NP-W126S
    BHphoto / Amazon / Adorama / Moment

Of course the list is heavily influenced by the disastuous stock situation with Fujifilm gear – availability is tight, and many people are simply snapping up whatever they can still find in stock. For example, I bet that if the X100VI would be available anywhere, it would be on top of the list.

If you can’t find what you’re looking for at the usual retailers like BHphoto or Adorama, be sure to check Amazon as well. Several official Fujifilm dealers also sell through Amazon and may still have stock available.

Updated Price Increase List for Fujifilm Gear Starting August 1

We have now received an updated list of the Fujifilm price increases starting August 1st, which includes the new price for the 11 GF lenses missing in our previous report and also these accessories are added to the list.

NOTE: some stores say they won’t honor the old price for all gear ordered today but shipping after August 1st (we reported here). We don’t have statements of BHphoto & Co in this regard. In any case, it’s best to order now and get it shipped tomorrow, or at least hope your store will honor the current price. If you don’t find it in stock at BHphoto & Co, check out Amazon where many official Fujifilm retailers also sell their gear. You might have better luck there.

Fujifilm Price Increase Confirmed – Unshipped Orders at Old Prices Could Be Canceled August 1st

We previously reported that Fujifilm will raise prices on August 1. Now we have the first confirmation: the U.S. store Capture Integration writes:

Fujifilm will increase all products on August 1st. Importantly, all pre-existing orders will be canceled at the older prices. NO CURRENT orders will be honored at pre-tariff pricing. Price increases range from 7-11%. Most notably…”

FujiFilm GFX100 II up 11%
FujiFilm GFX1000 RF up 10%
FujiFilm GFX100S II up 8%
GF Lenses all up 7-9%

Not mentioned is X series gear, which will go up too.

IMPORTANT NOTE: We don’t yet know if this policy applies only to Capture Integration, or if other retailers like B&H Photo will also refuse to honor current prices for gear ordered now but shipping after August 1.

RECOMMENDATION: See it in stock? Buy it now. If not, order anyway and hope the store honors current pricing. Worst case? They cancel your order.

DON’T LOSE HOPE: If you can’t find gear in stock at B&H or similar stores, check Amazon—many official Fujifilm retailers also sell through Amazon, so you might find items there that are out of stock elsewhere. To see which stores are authorized Fujifilm dealers, check the official Fujifilm USA list here.

List of Fujifilm Price Hikes Revealed – Nearly All X/GFX Gear Affected, But X-E5 Might Be Safe

We told you that Fujifilm will soon increase prices.

We have now additional details (not yet official, so take it as a rumor).

Price increase should start August 1st (same day when the new tariff-wave comes to effect).

Good news: the Fujifilm X-E5 seems to be safe from any price increase (despite our reader getting a notice about the X-E5 price increase). According to first info shared to us by FR-reader readers, this is because the note from Fujifilm came before the trade deal with Japan (thanks).

Bad News: the list might not be complete yet, though, because there are for example only 9 GF lenses on the list, but I suspect all 20 of them will get a price increase of about 10%. So let’s hope the X-E5 is so far not on the list, because no increase is planed.

Please keep in mind that everything below is still a rumor until Fujifilm makes an official announcement. That said, I wouldn’t share this if I weren’t confident that the price increases are indeed coming on August 1.

Hopefully, this gives some of you the chance to save a few bucks by buying your gear before the deadline.

With that said, here are the new prices starting August 1st (roughly about 10% price increase – some more, some less):

X Series Camera Bodies

GFX Series Camera Bodies

X Series Lenses

GF Lenses

NOTE: all GF lenses will likely get a price increase. I just don’t have the details, so I won’t share them below. But if you are interested in other GF lenses, grab them now too, as price will very likely go up also for those.

Fujifilm Early Fall GFX Deals, or When a $1,600 Rebate on GFX100S is Not Enough

Fujifilm has just launched their “Early Fall” deals.

The list of deals until now is very short. Here it is:

These are basically the same old deals on these items we have since months now.

Look, I own the GFX100S and in theory a $1,600 would be a great deal.

But there is one problem: there is camera out there called Fujifilm GFX100S II, which comes with a new processor and a superior autofocus, a better EVF and overall just a specs bump that I believe is worth the $600 you pay more for it compared to the rebated GFX100S.

The Fujifilm GFX100S (which I own), is still a wonderful camera. That’s why I think Fujifilm should just go crazy with it and offer it at $3,000!

Sure, they might not make a penny out of it, but at such a price, the GFX100S would be a crazy good deal and it would certainly bring lots of new users into the GFX system. Users who’d then buy lenses and eventually upgrade to more modern GFX bodies.

Listen to me, Fujifilm… just do it! Sell it for 3K! You’d see lots of Full Frame users getting tempted at that price ;).

So, at the end, do I recommend to buy the GFX100S at that price?

Well, these might seem a strange answer, considering it comes from a guy who is very happy with his GFX100S. But my answer is “no”. If Fujfiilm listens to me and offers it for 3K, then it would a no brainer to recommend. But as it stands now, if you really want to buy into the GFX system, then the probably best camera to get into it is the Fujifilm GFX100S II, or, if you want the ultimate GFX, then the GFX100 II.

Fujifilm Developed a Linux SDK for Remote Control of the GFX100 Series when Mounted on a Drone

Supporting infrastructure inspection with a 102-megapixel camera and drone.

Developed a Linux SDK for remote control of the mirrorless digital camera “GFX100 Series” when mounted on a drone

FUJIFILM Corporation (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Yoshikazu Goto) has developed a Linux *2 software development kit (SDK) *3 for remote control of the mirrorless digital camera “GFX100 Series” with a 102-megapixel large format sensor *1 when mounted on a drone . Going forward, the company will begin providing this SDK to drone manufacturers who wish to mount the “GFX100 Series” on their drones *4 . As the first step, the company will collaborate with Autonomy Holdings Inc. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Kenzo Nonami), which develops drones with high flight accuracy equipped with an original autopilot (automatic control function), to begin research and development on high-precision infrastructure inspection by combining Autonomy’s new drone “Surveyor IV” with the “GFX100 Series” using this SDK.

As the deterioration of domestic infrastructure progresses, the importance of inspections for maintenance is increasing. Since there are safety issues when inspecting high places and places that are difficult for people to access, remote infrastructure inspection using a combination of drones and high-resolution digital cameras is attracting attention. However, infrastructure inspection requires high accuracy to clearly distinguish 0.1 mm cracks, and drone inspection requires capturing as wide an area as possible in one shot to shorten flight time. The
GFX100 series, equipped with a 102-megapixel large format sensor, can capture ultra-high resolution images when combined with a dedicated interchangeable lens. Since it can clearly capture cracks and other defects with a wide angle of view, it reduces the number of shots by about 40% compared to a camera equipped with a 61-megapixel 35mm image sensor, thereby shortening inspection time. In addition, the cameras generally installed on drones tend to be expensive because lightweight dedicated models are used. On the other hand, the latest model in the “GFX100 series,” the “FUJIFILM GFX100S II,” weighs a total of approximately 1,273g when combined with the “FUJINON Lens GF35-70mmF4.5-5.6 WR,” making it extremely light for a camera equipped with a large format sensor with over 100 million pixels, and therefore can be mounted on a drone as a consumer camera system. It offers overwhelming cost performance compared to drone-specific cameras equipped with the same sensor.

By using the Linux-compatible SDK that we have developed, drone manufacturers can develop camera control software that meets their own specifications, making it possible to remotely control Fujifilm’s ultra-high-resolution digital cameras from their own systems.

*1 An image sensor with a diagonal length of 55 mm (43.8 mm horizontal x 32.9 mm vertical), approximately 1.7 times the area of a 35 mm format sensor.
*2 An OS widely used in industrial fields such as infrastructure inspection.
*3 Official name: “FUJIFILM X Series and GFX System Digital Camera Control Software Development Kit.” This is a library that enables software developers to develop application software that remotely controls Fujifilm’s digital cameras. It enables remote control of Fujifilm’s “X/GFX Series” digital cameras, including the “GFX100 Series.”
*4 The product will be provided to manufacturers in Japan before other companies. The timing and terms of provision will be discussed individually.

Fujifilm Firmware Updates for Every GFX Camera, X-T4, X-T50 and a few GF Lenses (FINALLY)

As you know, I am a happy owner of the Fujinon GF50mmF3.5.

Well, happy until a certain point.

Because as I wrote in a complaint post here, the firmware for the GF50mmF3.5 had been suspended and remained so for many months (now years).

I did moan about it here on FujiRumors, but nothing happened.

Nothing until today! :)

Because FINALLY Fujifilm has released a new firmware for the previously suspended GF50mmF3.5 as well as the GF35-70mm.

And not only that.

Also the GF500mmF5.6 as well as every single Fujifilm GFX camera got firmware updates.

What’s the Best Pick: Fujifilm GFX100SII ($5,000) or GFX100II ($7,500) or GFX100S ($4,400)?

So we just leaked the price of the upcoming Fujifilm GFX100SII.

Now the question to answer is: what’s the best pick at this point?

  • Fujifilm GFX100SII – $5,000
    Fujifilm GFX100II – $7,500
    Fujifilm GFX100S – $4,400

This is a tough one to answer.

I mean, I am a very happy owner of the Fujifilm GFX100S myself, and my heart would say the GFX100S is never a bad pick, especially not at this price.

But Fujifilm really smashed the price on that model with the GFX100SII, bringing it dangerously close to the one its now heavily discounted predecessor.

It’s probably best to go for the GFX100SII at this point over the GFX100S.

Things change of course if we throw the Fujifilm GFX100II in the mix. Of course that one costs more, but it is also the flagship and it will beat the new GFX100SII in terms of specs and features.

Personally, if budget was not of concern, I’d go for the Fujifilm GFX100II right away.

But since budget is something most of us take into consideration, if I had no GFX camera and wanted to jump into digital medium format, I’d very likely wait go for the Fujifilm GFX100SII.

Why?

It’s part of Fuji’s 5th generation family, hence we can expect it to get more firmware love over the years. And it will have Reala Ace, better autofocus and many other good stuff that comes with the 5th generation platform.

Things would drastically change though if Fujifilm were to offer the GFX100S at $3,000. At this point it would be a deal too good to be true, and quite frankly a price where also plenty of full frame camera makers would start to worry.

I mean, 100 megapixel medium format in a camera body that is even slightly smaller than some full frame mirrorless cameras out there such as this one, would become a serious temptation for many out there. And it would also be my pick as a first GFX camera.

But as it stands now, I recommend to buy the Fujifilm GFX100SII or, if budget allows for it, go straight for the GFX100II.

Anyway… let us know in the survey below what your top pick would be.

As a First GFX camera, I'd Buy...
