Fujifilm shows one of the FujiRumors Polls to the Press

In case you wonder if Fujifilm cares of the opinion of FujiRumors and FXF readers, well, here is the evidence that they do read us and care about our opinion.

Look at what joshuakhoo published just now: he recently participated at a Fuji event, where the company displayed one of our polls to the press (see image above). Pretty cool :)

“Oh, do take a look at the last slide. That came from Fujirumors.com, on why people buy Fujifilm. Patrick, they read your website everyday too! “

So FujiRumors is the place to let Fuji know what we think… and also our new Fuji X Forum here.

But there is more to read at joshuakhoo. On the rumor front, the Fujifilm Manager confirmed the Firmware rumors shared here on FujiRumors:

“For the X-E2, he is quoted to say that it will be ready around Oct to Nov 2015 time frame and asked the users to be patient as they are short of resources to develop the firmware. As for the X-T1 firmware 4.0 upgrade, he says it will be released on the 22nd of June 2015.

He did not want to answer a question on medium format camera rumour though.“

Take note: Fujifilm did NOT deny the Medium Format Rumor ;) .

At the event, Fuji presented their newly released gear and gave some figures about the market shares in Asia… which are really encouraging (the green line is Fuji’s Marketshare) – see image at the bottom of this post.

It’s just a boring Fujinon Glass… so get ready once again for the usual a long list of Pros and a very short Cons list also in the latest Admiringlight review. From the conclusions:

“Fuji keeps cranking out great lenses, and the 16mm f/1.4 is one of their finest. It brings the sharpness and low distortion of the 14mm f/2.8 and combines it with the great wide aperture performance of the 56mm f/1.2, while keeping almost all lens aberrations at a minimum. The lens is simply optically stellar. The only shooters who should pause a bit are those who are looking to use this lens for astrophotography, as it does show some notable coma. However, for almost all other shooting scenarios, it’s really hard to improve on this lens.”

The Fuji X-PRO2 will be weather sealed (Trusted Japanese Source)

I got an email from our beloved trusted Japanese source. It simply said:

“Patrick, you better add weather sealing to your X-PRO2 specs list!”

And so I did ;)

I have NO rumors about it, but I can’t stop thinking that the 35mmF2 WR (scheduled to come in November according to this roadmap) would be the perfect kit lens for a weather sealed X-PRO2.

And the weather sealing? Is it a gimmick or must have? There is a debate about it over at the FXF! Take a look here and feel free to share your opinion, too.

FXF Member PhilippeVdp was lucky enough to get his hands on a XF 90mmF2 WR lens during a Fuji event at his local camera store.

Now, he calls himself an amateur photographer (“I’ve just registered myself for a portrait / streetphotography course to learn how to take decent photo“), and when the Fuji Guy asked him if he wanted to test the XF90mmF2, he was a bit nervous:

“I was so nervous in the beginning that I didn’t notice the iso 3200, exposure comp on +1… … but then I relaxed and tried city portraits. […] and after using it for 2 hours or so … I was sold and ordered one“.

He shared his story and three samples over at our New Fuji X Forum, and at the end he said:

“I’m really an amateur […] but if these are the kind of photos I can make with that lens, just wonder what a skilled photographer can do with it!”

…

And now repeat with me: “I… don’t… need … this…. lens… must…. resist“!

About the XF90mm release: according to AmazonUS, the XF 90mmF2 WR will be released on July 11. There was a bit of confusion caused by AmazonUK, who said here, that they expected the XF 90mm to be released on June 18th. Well, they corrected it now to July 27… so it’s still a very long wait.

Is the XF 90mmF2 WR Fuji’s Best Lens in terms of IQ? I had this impression reading the review and especially looking at the tons of samples in Rico’s XF 90mmF2 WR First Look.

Now also jonasraskphotography confirms that it is the best XF lens in terms of IQ. And the inevitable question now is: XF 56mm (APD) or XF 90mm for portraits? A hot debate aroused on the FXF.

Here is an excerpt of what Jonas Rask thinks about it in his First Look:

“The XF 90mm f/2 is the highest performing lens I have ever mounted onto my X-series cameras. It beats all previous XF series lenses in just about every image quality aspect. It’s the royal deluxe model of a portrait lens, and if you are a portrait or fashion photographer using the Fujifilm X-series you cannot pass this lens up. For the system it is quite large, but it is what it is. I’m not even a portrait photographer, but I definitely will add this lens to my arsenal. It really is an amazing lens!

NEW FUJI ROADMAP shows Release of Lenses MONTH BY MONTH – XF 35mmF2 in November (X-PRO2 kit lens?)

Here is a Fuji Roadmap, showing the release of the lenses month by month:

1) XF90mm – JULY
2) XF35mm – NOVEMBER
3) x1.4 Teleconvertern – NOVEMBER / DECEMBER
4) XF 100-400 – MARCH
5) XF 120mm – JULY
