This is the New Fujifilm X-T50 Film Simulation Dial – VOTE: Better Drive or Film Simulation Dial?

We just reported about the Fujifilm X-T50 featuring a brand new film simulation dial.

Well, now other sources (THANKS) have now passed us the first image of the dial.

We can see:

  • 8 fixed spots for: Acros, Nostalgic Negative, Classic Neg., Reala Ace, Classic Chrome, Astia, Velvia, Provia (STD).
  • 3 variable spots: FS1, FS2, FS3 – assign your preferred film simulation on those dials
  • C position: disable the dial and the camera will activate whatever film simulation is set in your custom settings

Of course, it’s the drive dial of the Fujifilm X-T30II that is gone in favour or the the new film simulation dial. Let us know in the comments if you’d have preferred the drive dial or you prefer the new film simulation dial.

SURPRISE: Fujifilm X-T50 Coming with an All New Dial

The image of the Fujifilm X-T50 has leaked already and it shows it retains all the nice dials we loved from the X-T30.

However, what the images do not show, is that one of those dials is a completely new one.

In fact, thanks to a couple of sources (including new/anonymous ones – THANKS!!!) we can tell you that there will be a dedicated film simulation dial on the Fujifilm X-T50.

Now, like all the latest Fujifilm models, also the Fujifilm X-T50 will offer a total of 20 film simulations.

But not all 20 film simulations will be on that dial.

In fact, the new film simulation dial will have 12 positions:

  • 8 fixed film simulations
  • 3 positions can be assigned to whatever film simulation you want
  • 1 “C” position to basically disable the dial, and the camera will activate whatever film simulation is set in your custom settings

Now, the source who explained it in detail to me contacted me via rumor box. So I have no way to contact it and ask questions. So I will do it here.

The question is: can you put your own recipe on the three positions that are free on the dial, or can you just assign a standard Fujifilm film simulation to it?

An additional message to the source: Thanks a lot. I have read also the second part of the rumor and I find it very interesting and I am currently looking into it. Thanks so much for putting me on the right track.

And to all sources: you can now contact me 100% anonymously also via Signal. This way we can also chat and at the same time keep identities anonymous.

LEAKED: XF16-50mmF2.8-4.8 to Cost €799 and This is the X-T50 Kit Price

When I shared the price in Euro for the Fujifilm X-T50, many thought that this must be an error and that I am very likely referring to the kit price.

But no, we don’t do errors here on FujiRumors ;).

So I confirm: unless Fujifilm decides to change the price last second, these are the prices.

This is rocksolid stuff.

And yet, I have seen Fujifilm changing prices on the fly just days before announcement. And actually you might remember how they even did that shortly after announcement of new gear.

In fact, just a few days after the Fujifilm X70 was launched, and while it was still in full pre-order phase, Fujifilm changed its price from $799 to $699.

So if Fujifilm can change the price just a few days after announcement, then it is also possible to change it a few days before announcement.

But right now, this is the price in Euro. It’s very unlikely to change at this point, but not impossible.

Fujifilm X-T50 Price and Main Specs Leaked

Earlier today the first image of the Fujifilm X-T50 leaked and we reported about it here.

Now our sources have also passed us the main specs (besides the one we already leaked a while ago, such as IBIS and 40MP).

Here are the specs for the Fujifilm X-T50:

  • 40MP
  • X Processor 5
  • IBIS
  • 1 SD Card slot
  • not weather sealed
  • NP-W126S battery
  • same EVF of X-T30 (this has to be confirmed still, so don’t take it as 100% rocksolid for now)
  • price €1,499
  • coming in three colors: silver, black and charcoal

Just a comment about the price.

If I am correct, then there is a 50% price increase from X-T30 to X-T50. As a comparison, we got a 30% price increase passing from X-S10 to X-S20.

Sure, I was hoping that the X-T50 would also “just” get a 30% price increase, but also consider that the X-S10 already had IBIS and also uses the same 26MP X-Trans IV sensor of the X-S20, so you were paying for these features already on the X-S10.

On the contrary, the X-T50 features IBIS for the first time on an X-T** camera and also takes the jump to the 40MP realm and X-Trans V sensor. So, seen from this perspective, a 50% makes a bit more sense, although I still consider it quite a hefty price jump.

And in US Dollar?

Well, I have no rumors, but if we apply the 50% price increase in Europe also to the USA, then the X-T50 would end up costing something between $1,300 or $1,400. But that’s just a speculation based on the price increase we have in Europe.

And we also have the price for you.

Shocked?

Well, that’s actually a bargain compared to what other brands charge for equivalent lenses.

Fujifilm Discontinues Legendary Fujinon XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 Lens – Long Live the XF16-50mmF2.8-4.8

I can say I was there.

I was there, when Fujifilm launched what would become their all time bestseller, the Fujinon XF18-55mm f/2.8-4.

I was there to blog about it, to talk about… and to buy it for myself.

And actually, I bought two of them.

The first one I destroyed it when I had to jump into the Mekong river (story here – only the legendary Fujinon XF35mm f/1.4 survived that adventure, the rest of my gear broke).

I loved the XF18-55 so much that I bought a new one after destroying the first one.

The second sample did stick with me until I decided to sell it along with my XF55-200mm, in order to replace both of those lenses with the king of versatility, the Fujinon XF18-135mm.

I have had wonderful years with my Fujinon XF18-55mmF2.8-4. It has taken some of my favorite images. And I am sure it has given great joy to many other fellow X shooters out there.

But now it is time also for this glorious lens to retire.

Because the Fujinon XF16-50mmF2.8-4.8 is coming on May 16

As a consequence, the first stores in Japan are starting to mark the Fujinon XF18-55mmF2.8-4 as discontinued as reported by asobinet.

The Fujinon XF16-50mm will certainly be a fantastic lens. We leaked the images, we reported about the internal zoom, it will be sharper than the XF18-55mm, weather sealed and what not. But the XF18-55mm will always have a special place in the hearts of many as one of the best kit lenses ever made by any company.

Fujifilm X-T50 and XF16-50mmF2.8-4.8 to be Announced on May 16

Not only the Fujifilm GFX100SII.

In fact, according to our trusted sources, Fujifilm will announce also the Fujifilm X-T50 and the new kit lens, the XF16-50mmF2.8-4.8, at the X Summit on May 16.

Fujifilm X-T50 First Image Leaked (Sort Of)

On the Chinese Weibo platform the first image of the Fujifilm X-T30II successor has leaked.

We know since a over a month now that it will be called Fujifilm X-T50, and I guess that, if this image is legit, then this kind of confirms our rumor.
