Fujifilm GFX100RF Now Shipping in USA

It might seem nothing special, but given the circumstances it is quite a good news this time.

The Fujifilm GFX100RF started shipping in USA as reported over at the massive Fujifilm GFX group.

So our previous report that a first Fujifilm GFX100RF shipment reached US soil before the tariffs hit was accurate.

But that might well be the only good news. Pre-orders have basically stopped in USA as we reported here.

It remains to see if enough GFX100RF units arrived to the US to ship out at least all pre-orders. But I doubt that.

Fujifilm X-Half Announcement on May 22 at 1AM New York Time (7AM Berlin Time)

Fujifilm started to officially tease the upcoming Fujifilm X-Half camera, as we reported here.

Well, we now can share time and date of the announcement.

The Fujifilm X-Half will be announced May 22 at 1AM New York time (7AM Berlin time).

23 Fujifilm Products Win Red Dot Design Award 2025 and This is How Much it Costs Fujifilm

23 Fujifilm products have won the Red Dot Design Award 2025.

As far as photography related gear goes, these are the winners:

This might cost Fujifilm at least 100K+ USD.

And I am not making this number up randomly.

In fact, RedDot has a public price list on how much licensing fees cost (something between 5K and 12K).

The most “basic” package is the “Winner Package Regular” which costs 4,900 Euro.

But depending on which package you purchase, you can also end up paying 12,800 Euro for a single award. Plus, you can also purchase optional extras that can cost many thousands of Euro on top of it. And then there are also the registration fees that have to be paid upfront.

So let’s assume Fujifilm went for the most basic package, they have spend 112,700 Euro (130,000 USD) to purchase the RedDot Brag Right awards.

And consider that Fujifilm is just one company. Tons of other companies pay lots of money too to “win” these awards. Now you can figure it our yourself how much money these “Award” companies make with these awards.

First Official Fujifilm X-Half Teaser Launched

Fujifilm has just published a video (see below) with the first teaser of a new camera and the catchphrase “Half the Size, Twice the Story“.

It is the long rumored Fujifilm X-Half, although in the comments to the various posts Fujifilm made I read about Fujifilm X-Pro4 (or X-Pro5) and Fujifilm X-E5 speculations.

But “Half Size, Twice the Story” perfectly matches with the way the camera operates and we explained it here.

How long until the announcement?

I don’t know. But as a reference, with the Fujifilm GFX100RF the announcement (March 20) happened about 2 weeks after the first teaser on March 6.

If we apply this to the Fujifilm X-Half, then it means the announcement could happen in very early May. But that’s not a rumor, just a speculation based on how Fujifilm managed teasers in the recent past.

First Batch of Fujifilm GFX100RF Slips Past US Tariffs, But Trouble May Follow

A FR-reader reached out to Adorama and asked about his Fujifilm GFX100RF pre-order, which he placed just minutes after announcement.

The reply he got is the following:

The cameras are in stock, and the order has cleared verification. At this time, I don’t see any issues. We’ll begin processing orders on April 21st, following the Passover holiday. You’ll receive a shipping confirmation email with tracking information as soon as your order ships.

So, it sounds like some Fujifilm GFX100RF have made it into US soil ahead of the US tariffs and shipping of the first pre-orders will proceed smoothly.

But I also confirm that Fujifilm plans to suspend orders for Fujifilm GFX100RF, along with suspension for X-M5 black and X100VI orders.

If you were interested in the Fujifilm GFX100RF, then maybe it could be good idea to pre-order it now, hoping that one of the stores has more stock than pre-orders, hence you’ll get it at the regular price now.

Same goes for the Fujifilm X-M5 black, which can also be still pre-ordered at BHphoto as well as at Adorama here and will ship end of April, too.

Meet the Fujifilm X-Half – Fujifilm’s Upcoming Digital Half Frame Camera

When I first shared rumors about a 1″ inch sensor Fujifilm half frame camera coming, plenty of readers attacked me saying I mislead people by calling it a half frame camera.

The logic: it’s just a regular 1″ sensor, so it is not a proper half frame camera.

But…

… if the fact that it has a vertical LCD

… and the fact that it is intended to mainly create diptych images

… is not enough

… then here is another hint…

… the name of the camera will be Fujifilm X-Half.

I guess Fujifilm won’t call it “X-Half” because it is half as big as a Fujifilm GFX100RF.

My humble guess is that it will carry the name “X-Half” because Fujifilm will market it as a half frame camera. And if we look at how it works, then this might even make sense.

LEAKED: First Image of Fujifilm Half Frame Camera

What you see above is the first image of the Fujifilm Half Frame camera. I have received it via email a few hours ago.

We can see an exposure compensation dial, an optical viewfinder and f/2.4 maximum aperture.

The look resembles the one of the Leica M cameras.

The specs so far:

Wouldn’t it be nice if this was a proper Fujifilm X30 successor called Fujifilm X40 or Fujifilm X50, with a 1″ X-Trans sensor?

Fujifilm Half Frame Camera Mock-ups and Addressing Skepticism

Afters months of remaining unnoticed, FR-reader Mistral spotted the patent for a new Fujifilm digital camera that has to be the long rumored half frame camera.

We reported here.

I have also received emails asking me if mock-ups circulating are real. But I am sad to report they are all fake.

And fake are also all the Fujifilm X-T6, Fujifilm X-Pro4, Fujifilm X-H3, Fujifilm X-H3S, Fujifilm X-T60 rumors and what not.

And just to show you how easy it is to make up realistic looking fake stuff, I have created fake Fujifilm Half Frame images using ChatGPT based on the data provided in the public registration.

Anyway, this gives me the opportunity to address some of the skepticism shared after our previous article.

Seems to big for a 1″sensor

We confirm it has a 1″ sensor. And keep in mind, it is still smaller than the Fujifilm X-M5. And that camera is really small.

There comes a point in which shrinking a camera further probably makes no sense, as it would make it very uncomfortable to handle. I mean, you can shrink cameras, but you can’t shrink human hands. Could Fujifilm have made it smaller? Probably yes. Would it make sense? Maybe not, if you want to still retain some decent ergnomics.

Half Frame is Misleading

Don’t shoot the messenger guys. I just tell you how Fujifilm will market it.

But the fact that it has a vertical LCD is a strong indication that it is indeed intended to work as a half frame camera, especially considering that we have also shared details on how it will work.

If it works as we described, then “half frame” could indeed be a proper term to me.

That’s it from my side… and I wish you an absolutely fantastic day.

Fujifilm Half Frame Camera Registration Shows Sketches with Vertical LCD and Dimensions (FF240003)

For months this new camera registration has remained undetected by everybody.

Undiscovered, until fellow FR-reader Mistral stumbled on it and passed us this info (THANKS).

So what it is about?

On the 26th of February 2025, the camera registration FF240003 was published.

And looking at the details and sketches of the camera, it has to be the long rumored Fujifilm half frame camera, which we first rumored in October 2024.

Here is what we can see:

Overall we can now say it will look closer to the digital version of the Pentax 17 half frame rather than the Yashica Samurai X3.0.

So now we have two unreleased camera registrations:

  • FF250001 – Fujifilm X-E5 or Fujifilm GFX Eterna
  • FF240003 – Fujifilm Half Frame Camera

All of these cameras will still come in 2025.

But will there be even more? We investigated this question here.

Future Fujinon X Mount Lenses Proposed by Fujifilm (with Suggested Specs) – Vote What Should Be Next

Last year Fujifilm shared a list of 10 X mount lenses that are under consideration.

You guys voted and guess what? Fujifilm delivered (or will deliver soon) your top two most requested lenses.

The first one they gave us was the Fujinon XF500mmF5.6 and the next one will come this year, and it’s the Fujinon XF23mm pancake.

Now there are eight more on the list, and I thought it is high time to launch a new survey with the 8 remaining lenses to see if your wishes have changed also considering that in the meantime we got lenses from third parties like the Tokina atm-x 11-18mm f/2.8, which might change your priorities on what we need from Fujifilm next. Also, maybe the release of super compact cameras like the lovely Fujifilm X-M5 might now increase demand for certain lenses such as compact XC lenses.

So, feel free to vote what you want below.

Also, thanks a lot to Hiergeist for making a chart with approximate size of these potential future lenses based on preliminary details shared by Fujifilm itself, like size, weight and diameter.

You can read the potential specs shared by Fujifilm for all those lenses here.

My personal favorite?

Well, you might know how much I LOVE this lens here, so probably my top pick would be the one lens, that could replace it, such as the XF16-200mm. But let us know yours by voting below.
