Fujifilm GFX100RF vs X-Pro3 vs Leica Q3 approximate Size Comparison and Dimensions

Size Comparison

Andrea has made a video about the leaked images of the Fujifilm GFX100RF and has made an approximate size comparison between the Fujifilm GFX100RF, Fujifilm X-Pro3 and Leica Q3.

Of course these are very approximate size comparisons, so don’t take them as 100% accurate. But if the size comparison is accurate, then the GFX100RF would look about as wide as the X-Pro3 and Leica Q3, just a little bit higher.

But the more interesting thing is the lens. The one on the Fujifilm GFX100RF looks quite compact as opposed to the lens on the Leica Q3, which protrudes quite a bit from the camera body. This could ultimately make the GFX100RF a more pocketable solution than the Leica Q3, even though it has a sensor about 70% larger than the Leica Q3.

Dimensions

Also, FR-reader Matt compared the size of the Fujifilm GFX100RF to other cameras by aligning the width of the hotshot as seen in this image.

According to this, the size of the GFX100RF should be around 135mm (W) x 94mm (H).

For comparison:

Matt’s calculations more or less fit with the comparisons made by Andrea.

EXCLUSIVE: First Image of Fujifilm GFX100RF Front View with Lens

Here you have it guys, the first image of the Fujifilm GFX100RF front view with lens (top and backside image here).

Size seems quite reasonably for me, and the lens looks very compact compared to the rather long lens of the Leica Q3.

Interestingly there is still the viewfinder switch we have on the X-Pro and X100 line, even though the Fujifilm GFX100RF has only an electronic viewfinder. So I guess it will have some other function.

STAY TUNED: Fujifilm GFX100RF Front View Image Coming Today – And See the Crop Lever Now!

Earlier today Fujifilm shared the first image of the front view of the Fujifilm GFX100RF.

Well, our sources thought that the Fujifilm community needs more than just that massively underexposed image.

So they reached out to us and passed us a very clear image of the entire front of the GFX100RF (the top and backside can be seen here).

I am preparing the article now and will share it today.

In the meantime you can see the crop zoom lever placed under the ON/OFF switch and (big) command dial.

You toggle the lever left or right to change the crop, and it automatically flips back to the center after each adjustment.

Fujifilm Shares Image of Fujifilm GFX100RF

When announcing the Fujifilm X summit on March 20 at 5AM New York time, Fujifilm has also shared the first “official” image of the Fujifilm GFX100RF.

The original images is underexposed, so you get it brightened up for you here on FujiRumors. We can see:

  • lens looks rather compact
  • the crop lever under the shutter button
  • there is still the viewfinder selector, but the Fujifilm GFX100RF has an EVF only, so it likely has another function.

Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.

If you want to get a clear view of the top and back of the Fujifilm GFX100RF, check out this article.

Fujifilm Managers “a Bit Scared” by Stacked Sensor GFX, X100VI Production, Fixed Lens GFX and if Skipping Full Frame was Key for Fuji’s Success

The French website photorend interviewed several Fujifilm managers at CP+:

In short:

  • Phototrend asks: “was skipping full frame the key to Fujifilm’s success“?
  • the managers answer: “I think the current trend has nothing to do with whether or not we avoid full format. The key factor to our success is that we launch attractive products and services that meet the expectations of our customers.”
  • among the younger generations and women, the sales volume of Fujifilm products is increasing. They want to capture images that stand out from those taken with a smartphone
  • The key to our success lies in the attractiveness of our products.
  • China is the engine of Fujifilm’s sales and is at the top of all the countries where we market our products
  • Demand for X100VI continues to grow. Fujifilm is making progress in matching demand
  • a large format version of the X100 would be very different from the X100
  • “even if we had to develop such a product, I don’t know how much bigger or heavier it would be compared to the X100 series.”
  • Fujifilm believes that the cinema market is growing strongly, that’s why they make GFX Eterna. This market is therefore just as important to Fujifilm as photography.
  • GFX Eterna minimal rolling shutter is 50 ms in full format 4K 16:9. NOTE: Fujifilm managers told CineD that readout speed is 15ms. Probably phototrend made an error with the transcription
  • when making MK II lenses like the XF16-55mmF2.8 II, the goal Nr.1 is to improve image quality and resolution, followed by reducing size and weight, and then optiomize autofocus and ergonomics.
  • the goal is to maximize the benefits of the APS-C system with compact optics.
  • Fujifilm does not consider the Fujifilm X-M5 an entry level camera. It is essential for Fujifilm to attract new users.
  • As far as GFX for sports goes, currently Fujifilm is working on increasing bursts rates and optimizing autofocus to make sports photography more accessible to GFX shooters
  • the Fujifilm manager says he would love to see stacked sensor technology arrive to GFX. But he doesn’t know how much it would cost… “it scares me a little“!
  • Fujinon GF/XF 500mmF5.6: sharing the design is a brilliant idea (except for rear optical parts of the lens, where design is different due to different sensor size).
  • For fixed-focal length telephoto lenses, the size is determined by the aperture and focal length, not by the size of the sensor.
  • AI can be used for image quality, autofocus, stabilization, video, automatic white balance, exposure, distortion compensation, subject detection and more
  • For Fujifilm it is important to have direct communication with its customers
  • At the X-Summit in Tokyo, Fujifilm asked participants to vote on lenses Fujifilm should develop. “Direct communication with customers is a fundamental principle for us. We really want to understand what lenses are interesting for photographers“.
  • Of course, we cannot meet all market demands—we also have to take commercial considerations into account—but we prioritize our customers’ expectations.”

EXCLUSIVE: First Image of Fujifilm GFX100RF

So guys, thanks to our trusted sources (THANKS!!!) here you have it: the first image of the upcoming Fujifilm GFX100RF.

We can see:

  • the dedicated aspect ratio dial (a very different solution compared to the aspect ratio switch on the Panasonic LX-100)
  • no D-Pad
  • Fujifilm’s most brilliant (and most irrational) dial, the combined shutter/ISO dial
  • a rather large rear command dial
  • the usual things (S,C,M switch, joystick, marked and unmarked buttons

So far so good if you ask me, but I am curious the read what you think about it.

Stay Tuned: First Image of Fujifilm GFX100RF Coming Today… and See the Aspect Ratio Dial NOW!

Stay tuned guys… today you’ll get the first image of the Fujifilm GFX100RF.

But one tidbit just to set things right:

Some said that the aspect ratio switch is nothing new, as it is used already by other cameras like this one.

But in the image above you can see that Fujifilm adopted a radically different solution by giving it a dedicated dial which also means that very likely you’ll be able to select many more aspect ratio options that the ones we get for example with the Panasonic LX-100.

But we have more to talk about very soon… so stay tuned ;).

Fujifilm GFX100RF: More Than Just a Camera for $5K – Here’s What You Get!

We told you that the Fujifilm GFX100RF will cost about 5,000 USD.

While 37% of you either though the price is OK or suspended the judgment until they see the full specs, 63% of you straight out voted that the price is too high – see poll results here.

But that’s apparently not the full story.

In fact, after we shared the survey, the same trusted source, who told us the US Dollar price, reached out to me and wanted me to inform the fellow Fujifilm community, that there is a bit more than “just” the camera and lens coming for “about 5K”. Because included in the price there will also be:

I guess this won’t change the mind of the 63% of people, who think the Fujifilm GFX100RF is overpriced, but it is a nice set of freebies anyway.

Update: Fujifilm never gave us free filters and filter adapters with cameras. Nor did they include a square lens hood. So this is a first ever for Fujifilm. Also, the strap is of a much higher quality than the cheap one we usually get.
