Fujifilm X-T50 Bug Fix Firmware Released

Now that was fast!

Last time there was a bug, Fujifilm needed two months to issue a fix. This time they needed 2 days. Now that’s what I call an improvement ;).

Anyway, the Fujifilm X-T50 bug we reported here has now been fixed. Happy download!

Firmware Details

Fujifilm X-T50 ver. 1.02 – download here
The firmware update Ver.1.02 from Ver.1.01 incorporates the following issues:

  1. The firmware bug is fixed that the error message, “THIS FIRMWARE IS NOT FOR THIS MODEL TURN OFF THE CAMERA” is displayed on the LCD during the firmware update from Ver.1.00 to Ver.1.01 for specific serial numbers and the firmware update cannot be performed.

Note-1: Refer to the “Notice and apology to FUJIFILM X-T50 users” for the details.
Note-2: Although there are no differences of features and performance of the camera itself between Ver.1.01 and Ver.1.02, all X-T50 users can update this firmware (ver.1.02) even who had already completed the update to Ver.1.01.

SmallRig Cooling System for Selected Fujifilm Cameras

Cooling system for cameras are nothing new.

Of course there is Fujifilm, with its own (and best) offering, the FAN-001, but that one is limited to X-H2, X-H2S, X-S20 and GFX100II. It won’t work on other cameras.

Other brands jumped into this space and offer their own cooling systems, such as the Ulanzi cooling system for Fujifilm cameras. And also Tilta is known for its solutions.

Well, we now have more options available.

In fact, SmallRig just launched the SmallRig Cooling System.

  • Rapid Cooling System
Utilizes a high-efficiency fan paired with a TEC cooling module to swiftly cool down the camera, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Intelligent Temperature Control
Features an automatic temperature control design that intelligently regulates the camera’s temperature for consistent operation.
  • Effortless Snap-On Installation
Easily install and remove the device with a snap-on mechanism, enhancing compatibility with a wide range of cameras.
  • Versatile Usage
Can be used independently or with a camera cage, offering a lighter and more flexible shooting experience.
  • Power Flexibility
Compatible with the V-Mount Battery Mount Plate Kit 4064B/4063B, supporting V-Mount batteries and various power supply options for convenient use in diverse settings.

Notice that on their website, SmallRig only mentions the Fujifilm X-T4 and X-S10 as being compatible. So I am not sure if it will work with other Fujifilm cameras that have a selfie screen (X-S20 etc).

Fujifilm X App 2.1.2 released

Fujifilm has updated the X App software to version 2.1.2 for iOS. Down below are all the details.

Btw, what’s you experience with App? For me it is working quite well so far. Definitely a more pleasing experience than the old app. I actually also used it to update the firmware on my X-T5 the other day.

What’s New

  1. The following software bugs are fixed.
    (1) Live View is not displayed in the correct aspect ratio depending on the smartphone settings.
    (2) The “Number of lifetime shots” is not displayed correctly in “Equipment Status” When using X100VI.
  2. The item name is revised as follows.
    (1) The item name, “MECHANICAL SHUTTER (current module)” displayed in the “Equipment Status” is changed to match the “Number of shutter movements” used in some camera menus.

You can download the latest Fujifilm X App for iOS here and for Android here.

Fujifilm June Announcements: New Firmware Updates (Reala Ace), New Tether Software and New GFX Challenge Grant Program 2024

Fujifilm is back with three announcements:

You can see all details in the video above.

Usually Fujifilm also teases new X summits in these videos, but this time they did not say or hint anything about future X summit.

Personally I am so excited to finally be able to shoot in Reala Ace. Will it be able to dethrone Astia as my favorite allrounder film simulation? I will let you know here on FujiRumors. :)

New Fujifilm Tether App Launched and X RAW Studio Updated

It’s Update Day

Fujifilm just released major firmware updates for several cameras and also for a lens.

But that’s not all.

There are updates also for Fujifilm X RAW Studio and also a brand new software has been launched, the Fujifilm Tether App.

So let’s look at what happened.

Fujifilm X RAW Studio

Fujifilm has released an update for the Fujifilm X RAW Studio software.

Fujifilm X RAW Studio Ver.1.24.0 – download here
The software update Ver.1.24.0 incorporates the following issues:

  1. “REALA ACE” RAW development is now supported.
  2. A software bug is fixed that the “COLOR TEMPERATURE” of “WHITE BALANCE” set in “Profile” is not reflected to the preview and recorded image correctly with macOS 14.

Fujifilm Tether App

We told you something new would happen also on the software front, and here it is: the brand new “Fujifilm Tether App”.

”FUJIFILM TETHER APP” provides functions to utilize digital cameras (GFX/X series) by connecting them to a computer. Even if your camera does not support the tethered shooting function, you can use the function to save/load camera settings.

You can read all the details below and download it here.

Major Firmware Updates for X-T5, X-H2, X-H2S, X-S20 (Reala Ace, AF Bug Fix) and X100VI, GF80mmF1.7 Updates Too

Fujifilm has released major firmware updates for 5th generation Fujifilm cameras as well as a minor one for the Fujifilm X100VI and the Fujinon GF80mmF1.7.

It brings Reala Ace to older 5th generation cameras, fixes the autofocus bug and more.

A final note: In recent weeks, numerous videos have surfaced online highlighting issues with Fujifilm’s autofocus. While I covered this topic, I also urged YouTubers to clarify that these problems are limited to a few specific Fujifilm camera models and they are the result of a buggy firmware update.

The problem?

Well, now Fujifilm fixed it, but those videos will remain online forever as they are, with general statements about the overall AF performance of Fujifilm cameras being worst than 10+ years old Sony cameras. And people who watch those videos, will not be aware that this was caused by a bug in a the firmware that has been fixed by Fujifilm within a few weeks.

I mean, I am all in favour of reporting about issues, as long as the proper context is given.

Fujifilm Says Firmware Autofocus Bug Fix and Reala Ace are Coming End of June

Fujifilm USA manager Victor Ha was a guest at the latest Adorama live show.

When asked about the autofocus bug fix on a few Fujifilm cameras, the manager says first of all thanks to the Fujifilm community for reporting about it, but especially he says there will be a firmware fix coming on the end of June.

Also, the Fujifilm X-T5 & Co will finally get Reala Ace film simulation with this update on the end of June.

That’s in contrast to what Fujifilm China said, who announced the Reala Ace firmware coming in August.

Building a DIY Spectroscope with Fujifilm X-Trans Cameras (and Why Not with Bayer Sensor)

When we talk X-Trans virtues, we often talk about the more film like looking grain, the less color noise at high ISO, less moiré, sharpness boost etc.

But the X-Trans array might have some other advantages most of us would not think of. For example, in today’s case we see how ideal X-Trans is to create a DIY Spectorscope to measure the wavelengths of light.

In fact, when comparing the X-Trans vs Bayer sensor for this project, mpr decided to go for X-Trans, because each column of the X-Trans sensor contains all three colors (red, blue, green), whereas each column of the Bayer sensor only has 2 colors.

This makes it a lot easier to use the X-Trans data for the spectorscope.

From there, mpr will guide you through the process and if you are interested definitely watch his video.

Nice to see yet another creative and useful application of the X-Trans sensor.

Is the Fujifilm X-T50 the Best Looking Fujifilm Camera? – VOTE NOW

Somewhere in the comments somebody claimed: the Fujifilm X-T50 is now the best looking camera among X series cameras.

And while I totally agree that Fujifilm X-T50 has gained in sexiness with its new rounded design over the more boxy design of its predecessors, I am not sure if I’d call it the best looking one.

It would certainly be very high in the ranking for my taste, but I believe the Fujifilm X100VI still holds the throne as best looking Fujifilm camera.

Is this essential to know which X series camera is the best looking one?

Nope

Does it change the fate of the photography universe?

I don’t think so.

But it adds a bit of uplifting lightness into a discussion that is often way to heated in the photography forums, where we battle about the curve quality of the bokeh balls in the top right corner of the image and where we count the number of false color pixels after a 27 stops shadow recovery.

So, feel free to add lightness to this world by telling us in the survey and in the comments which camera you consider the most beautiful one.

The cameras you can vote on are:
