No Samsung Sensor in Fujifilm X-T3 says Fujifilm Manager (still Sony)

Fujifilm X-T3 Sensor

Here on FujiRumors we never joined the big “Fujifilm X-T3 sensor is made by Samsung” buzz and you won’t find a single article or a single comment, where I say that.

All we did is to report about the official cooperation between Samsung and Fujifilm on the ISOCELL+ technology and we reported about rumors surfacing on the web, about Samsung possibly supplying APS-C sensors “in future” (and not now already).

I have always avoided to join Samsung X-T3 sensor speculations, also because I have been contacted by some sources (thanks), who told me it’s a Sony sensor.

Now Fujifilm UK manager Theo Georgiades sets an end to all the speculations by saying in this video at minute 3:38.

I can confirm that it is definitely not a Samsung sensor. It’s the same manufacturing process that we have gone through with all other X-Trans sensor cameras. Still designed and tested all by our R&D team, but it’s definitely not a Samsung sensor.

He never mentions Sony, but we know that it’s currently Sony, who manufactures the sensor “designed and tested” by Fujifilm.

However, who knows what will happen in future. The cooperation between Samsung and Fujifilm is real (there is an official press release), and I don’t feel like I can tell you now with 100% certainty, that Samsung will never ever be back in the APS-C sensor business.

Personally I would certainly be happy about Samsung making APS-C sensors again one day, because customers would definitely profit from more competition to Sony in the sensor business.

Photons to Photos: Fujifilm X-T3 vs X-T2 Dynamic Range Comparison

Fujifilm X-T3

Photons to Photos just published their dynamic range results for the Fujifilm X-T3.

According to their data measurement, there is no noticeable difference between the Fujifilm X-T3 and X-T2. The Fujifilm X-T3 has a little advantage at base ISO, especially thanks to the base ISO 160 and also at very high ISO.

We have seen from previous comparisons, that the Fujifilm X-T3 preserves more details at high ISO.

You can manipulate the chart here.

From my testing of the X-T3 at photokina, I can say that AF speed, face/eye AF and video are the real reason you might want to upgrade to Fujifilm X-T3.

Fujifilm X-T3: New Firmware Will Add exFAT File System Support Eliminating 4GB File Size Limit

Fujifilm X-T3

As you know, Fujifilm has announced that by then end of 2018, there will be a firmware update for Fujifilm X-T3, that will add support for video recording in the Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) and also give the X-T3 the ability to simultaneously output Film Simulation video and F-log footage.

But there is more, and I am here to tell you what Fujifilm didn’t ;).

The firmware update will also add support for exFAT file system, meaning your file size won’t be limited to 4GB.

Currently on the Fujifilm X-T3 (or any other Fujifilm camera), when the file size reaches 4GB, subsequent footage will be recorded to a separate file which must be viewed separately.

I know this is something that annoyed quite some videographers out there, and I am happy to share the exFAT rumor with you here today.

As you can see, just like Fujifilm, also FujiRumors Never Stops :).

There will be rumors, non stop, don’t miss them, and make sure to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, RSS-feed and Twitter.

Fujifilm X-T3: Steve Huff Loves It, Robert Hall Not So Much, X-T2 vs X-T3 Face/Eye AF Comparison and More

Hugh Brownstone – Fuji X-T3 Autofocus and James Bond: Focus Pulls and Eye AF WORK!

Fujifilm X-T3

The Fujifilm X-T3 is definitely a huge step up in terms of speed. Hence, one of the most tested aspects of this camera is its autofocus and eye AF performance.

In fact, even long time Fujfiilm critic Steve Huff now finally fell in love with Fujifilm thanks to the Fujifilm X-T3 (video below).

But not everybody has just postive things to say.

Robert Hall has a rather critical view on the Fujifilm X-T3. Actually on the entire Fujifilm system. He is annoyed that the Fujifilm X-T3 came out short after the Fujifilm X-H1, with all superior specs. But he is also annoyed that it has no IBIS. And he doesn’t like the fact that Fuji’s wide F1.4 and F1.2 lenses are not fast focussing like their slower Fujicron F2 lenses.

Neale James instead is about to switch from Canon to Fujifilm X-T3, and shows you how painful it can be to wait for the UPS guy to deliver your X-T3 ;).

It’s all down below… enjoy it guys :)
