Fujinon X Mount Roadmap 2021/2022 Updated with Latest Rumored Lenses

The Hidden X Mount Roadmap

Many people complain that Fujifilm is not updating its lens roadmap.

And since I love my community to be happy, let me take over the job that Fujifilm refuses to do.

Also, in the comments to our earlier posts some fellow FR-readers asked me if, in the light of the latest rumors, the timeline for other lenses is still confirmed or if something changed.

So let me sum it up clearly in a sort of unofficial roadmap today, by listing all future X mount lenses that we rumored so far on FujiRumors.

Of course I am working to add more lenses to the list. So definitely stay tuned on FujiRumors.

The Future Looks Good

It’s a couple of years that Fujifilm hasn’t been so active on the Fujinon X mount lens front.

Look at what we got in the last few months (late 2020 / early 2021)

And that’s not even all for 2021. In fact, surely we will get the XF33mm F1.4 R WR. But will there be even more in 2021? FujiRumors is investigating and will let you know.

Also 2022 seems interesting, thanks to two highly desired MKII lenses and an intriguing Fujinon XF150-600mm. Plus, also for 2022 I am working on more, so expect updates.

RUMOR: Fujinon XF18mmF1.4 R WR with 62mm Filter Size

March was a month full of exclusive and breaking rumors:

You guys tell me if you’d like to have a break from the rumors, otherwise I’ll just continue, ok?

No complaints? Ok, so let’s go ahead. :)

Today we talk about the upcoming Fujinon XF18mmF1.4 R WR, the only not yet released lens so far that we can find on the official Fujifilm roadmap (** list of non yet announced X mount lenses below).

Well, we have seen hands on images of the Fujinon XF18mmF1.4 R WR at the X summit of October 2020 here. FujiRumors has also taken the official XF18mmF1.4 sketches shared by Fujifilm and made a size comparison Fujinon XF16mm f/1.4 and the XF23mm f/1.4, which you can see here.

From that size comparison, we saw that the size of the XF18mmF1.4 R WR is somewhere in between the one of the Fujinon XF16mm f/1.4 and the XF23mm f/1.4.

The additional information we got about the XF18mmF1.4 R WR is that it will have a 62mm filter size. As a reference, the XF16mmF1.4 R WR has a 67mm filter size, whereas the XF23mmF1.4 R has also a 62mm filter size.

** FujiRumors has leaked two more lenses that will come, but are not yet included in the roadmap, the Fujinon XF150-600mm and the Fujinon XF33mmF1.4 R WR.

BREAKING: Fujifilm Working on Fujinon XF 150-600mm Lens

Just recently we told you that there won’t be any XF300mmF4 and XF500mmF5.6 in 2021.

Well, I’ve read all the comments to that article, and while some say that those would be very niche lenses and almost nobody would buy them anyway, most of you guys were disappointed by that rumor.

But today I might have something that could cheer up some of you.

I received information from trusted sources, that Fujifilm is working on a Fujinon XF150-600mm lens!

I don’t know the aperture range, but you guys can tell us in the comments what you would like.

But you know how the game goes: slower lens means smaller and cheaper whereas faster lens means bigger and more expensive. So pick your aperture wisely.

And remember, Sigma is rumored to start to make Fuji X mount lenses in 2021 (Sigma itself hinted this!), too. And I hope they’ll be smart enough to release lenses currently not covered by Fujinon glass, hence exactly those long telephoto primes some of you need for your photography.

So, don’t give up all hope guys. ;)
