LEAKED: This is the Sensor of the Fujifilm X-S20

Let’s talk Fujifilm X-S20.

And more precisely, let’s share the probably most important rumor I can share about it: the sensor it will have.

According to trusted sources, the Fujifilm X-S20 will feature the 26MP BSI X-Trans IV sensor, so exactly the same sensor we currently have on the Fujifilm X-T4, X-T3, X-S10 and many other Fujifilm cameras.

As an owner of the 40MP Fujifilm X-T5 sensor, my personal wish would be to see that sensor in as many future Fujifilm X series cameras as possible, but I am well aware that many of you consider the combo 26MP + X-Processor 5 to be the best option for the Fujifilm X-S20.

Why?

Well, I have written about it in depth here:

So, there are Pros and Cons in the choice Fujifilm made, which makes me definitely curious to see what the Fujifilm X-S20 will be able to deliver by using this combo.

NOTE: I don’t have rumors about the processor on the Fujifilm X-S20, but I assume it will use the X-Processor 5.

Fujifilm X-T5 Snaps Gold Award at DPReview

DPReview just published their full Fujifilm X-T5 review. The X-T5 snaps the gold award.

What We Like:

  • Class-leading high-resolution image quality with a wide range of JPEG processing options
  • Excellent Raw dynamic range
  • 160MP high-res mode for static scenes
  • 15fps mechanical shutter w/AF
  • Subject-specific AF tracking modes
  • Effective in-body IS allows for handheld video and slow shutter speed stills
  • Versatile dual-hinged rear touchscreen
  • Impressive build quality with plenty of ‘old school’ direct manual controls
  • Highly customizable design
  • Solid battery life

What We Don’t

  • Tracking AF and face/eye detect AF lags behind the competition
  • Lackluster video quality (significant detail/rolling shutter tradeoffs)
  • High-res mode requires a trip to your computer for assembly
  • Poor magnified live view experience
  • Not all XF lenses will deliver full promise of 40MP sensor
  • No expansion port for accessory grip

Fujifilm X-S20 coming with NP-W235 Battery (Rumor) but not in April (Speculation)

Quick update regarding the Fujifilm X-S20.

We know the Fujifilm X Summit in April has been canceled and the next X Summit will take place in May.

But this hasn’t changed what we told you already a long time ago: the next Fujifilm X series camera to come will be the Fujifilm X-S20. Sure, this means that in theory it is still possible we will get a new GFX camera before the X-S20 or along with it. But as for X series, the X-S20 is next.

So when will it come? Could Fujifilm announce the X-S20 in April, just don’t make an X Summit about it?

Well, yes they definitely could. Not all Fujifilm cameras get their X summit. But since the X-S20 is a very important camera for Fujifilm, I believe they’ll honor it with an X-Summit. It’s not a rumor, but a speculation. And I’d be very surprised if I was wrong.

The second rumor instead is a trusted rumor: the Fujifilm X-S20 will use the newer NP-W235 battery. I hope Fujifilm will be able to keep the camera body super small like on the current X-S10 body despite the new larger battery.

Let’s Talk Fujifilm X-E Line Future

With the Fujifilm X-E4 now discontinued after 2 years only and hardly available at all over the last 2 years, it’s time to talk quickly about the future of the Fujifilm X-E line.

Is there any hope that the line will continue.

In the video above I will list you two reasons why we should be optimistic about a Fujifilm X-E5, but also mention a few points that could induce Fujifilm to cancel the line.

RUMOR: Next Fujifilm X Summit Scheduled for May

Thanks to our sources, we can now inform you when the next Fujifilm X Summit will take place.

The next Fujifilm X Summit will take place in the month of May.

I am working on all the details and will share updates in the next days and weeks. So make sure to stay tuned on FujiRumors.
