Fujifilm X-H1 Announcement

Fujifilm X-H Facebook Group

Wow…

Christmas is just over (I hope you had a good one), and I’m 100% back on track and motivated to make your (and my) time here on FujiRumors as fun as possible.

And it couldn’t be different, since right after the Christmas break, the first rumors are now landing into my Inbox.

Hence, after the EVF blackout less rumor here, I have another rumor for you…. and you better mark this date:

Fujifilm X-H1 will be announced on February 14, 2018.

I don’t expect last-minute changes by Fujifilm, but if there should be some, I will make sure to let you guys know.

Now go, fellow X-shooters, and spread the word… and don’t forget to quote/link to www.fujirumors.com. And just in case you find this rumor reposted without link to FR, feel free to kindly ask to quote FR.

On a personal note…

it seems that Fujifilm has an excellent timing when it comes to new gear announcements, since they will launch the Fujifilm X-H1 exactly during my winter holidays… another planed travel I have to cancel. D’OH!

But hey, I have shared Fujifilm X-H1 rumors since back in July 2017, and after 6+ months of constant rumors, with lots of breaking rumors and detailed specs leaked on FR (see below), I won’t miss the final appointment with the Fujifilm X-H1.

That’s why I am very excited, highly motivated and 100% focused on the big final launch party with the big live blogging on February 14 here on FujiRumors.

Stick around FujiRumors… we will have a lot of fun… promised ;) .

BREAKING: Fujifilm X-H1 Shorter Black Out Than X-T2. Kaizen Update Possible for X-T2 & Co?

Fujifilm X-H1 EVF

A trusted source just made us a slightly delayed but highly appreciated X-mas present.

Ready? Then enjoy this one :)

In continous shooting, the EVF black out time on the upcoming Fujifilm X-H1 will be shorter than on the X-T2.

Excited? Then make sure to join our Fujifilm X-H facebook group

… where its almost 4,000 members already opened the new year champagne bottles after this rumor :)

Some Data

Currently on the X-T2, at 5 frames per second, the black out time is 65% without grip and 57% with vertical booster grip.

Fujifilm might have suceeded in reducing the “image creation – black out (57%)” part even further, hence reducing black out.

Another topic is the electronic shutter, which currently on the X-T2 does not give you live view, but just previews of the images you just took. The issue in shooting CH is rolling shutter.

I will investigate this further, but it seems our sources are refering to the black out when using mechanical shutter. Hence no rolling shutter problem. But I will update you guys as soon as possible.

Stacked Sensor?

To my information, “No“, the Fujifilm X-H1 won’t have a stacked CMOS sensor like the Sony A9, but the same 24MP X-TransIII sensor of the Fujifilm X-T2 & Co. Hence, you won’t lose any dynamic range, which is a drawback of stacked sensors.

Kaizen Update Possible?

The Fujifilm X-H1 will not only have the same sensor, but also the same X processor Pro of the Fujifilm X-T2 & Co.

And I know what you think… and I’m with you guys! I really would like the improved black out time also for X-T2, X-Pro2, X-T20 and X-E3 via Kaizen Firmware update… as well as the new Eterna film simulation.

Sharing the same sensor/processor of X-T2, these Kaizen updates should be possible.

We are Going to Have Fun!

There will be more rumors, so stay tuned on FujiRumors via Facebook, RSS-feed, and Twitter and allow push notification by clicking on the bell on the bottom right of your browser.

We are going to have fun :)

Fujifilm X-H1 “4K Photo” Feature is Basically a Timelapse Feature

X-H1 Mock-ups based on accurate sketches of our Japanese Source

Fujifilm X-H1

Recently I reported about a new feature on the Fujifilm X-H1, but I had so vague information about it, that I specifically told you to hold on for more details. All I knew is that it might combine movie and stills… somehow.

I speculated here that it could maybe be something like Panasonic’s “4K Photo” feature, where you can extract a photo out of a 4K video.

Now another source contacted me with a further hint, and told me that it is basically a timelapse feature.

I will try to dig up more details for you guys, and thanks to the source for showing me the way ;)

And feel free to join our hyper-active Fujifilm X-H group.

Fujifilm X-E3 Vs. X-T20 Vs. X100F…. and FF stands for “Fujifilm Forever”, or FujiRumors Shooting with Sony A7rIII :)

FF = Fujifilm Forever :)

*WARNING: this short intro will contain personal opinions that do not want to offend those of you, who think different. FR knows that what I feel good with, might not be what you like. FR also likes the innovation Sony brings in many areas, including digital cameras and sensor technology, and we have applauded their new products in the past here on FujiRumors (and I will be forever grateful to Sony for the Walkman :) ). And yet, I’m sorry, I still love Fujifilm way more, as you could already read in my Sony Specs (A7rII) Vs. Fuji Fun (X-T1) comparison.

This Sunday I am at SonyAlphaRumors‘ home, and I won’t miss the opportunity to shoot with his new Sony A7rIII. I will start now to use it a couple of hours, so my very first impressions are only about ergonomics… and Fujifilm, for me personally, wins.

I don’t like the PASM dial, and the tactile retro controls of Fuji cameras is, for me, way more intuitive. I am convinced that, if you give a Fujifilm and Sony camera to an experienced photographer, who never shot with those brands, that person will feel immediatly more comfortable using the Fuji, because all the most important settings are just right there, clearly visible on dials. Shutter, ISO, Aperture, metering mode, AF mode and a lot more can be seen and set even with the camera turned off.

Yep, for me it’s like many other people say: the Fujifilm just disappears in your hands :).

But I am sure I will have fun playing around with the Sony A7rIII and look forward to shoot with it today.

You can see the Sony A7rIII in my hands here :)

Fujifilm X-E3

When I shared the mixed zone yesterday, some of you wondered why it does not include any Fujifilm X-E3 related content.

Don’t worry, I didn’t forget that little beautiful camera.

In fact, I did plan a separate and dedicated X-E3 roundup, and here it is. Enjoy it :)

The Fujifilm X-E3 sells best in combination with the XF23mmF2

Fujifilm X-E3: BHphoto, Adorama, AmazonUS, FocusCamera

Fujifilm X-H1: Headphone Jack in Body + some sort of “4K Photo” feature

Headphone Jack

The Fujifilm X-H1 will have the headphone jack build into the camera body. I remind you that the X-T2 has the headphone jack only in the vertical grip

“4K Photo”

Now, I call it “4K photo”, but that’s probably not how Fujifilm is going to market this feature.

I actually still have to understand how exactly it works, but it could be something like Panasonic’s “4K Photo” feature, which you can see in this youtube video. Basically it allows you to extract a picture from a 4K video. But as said, I have still no very clear idea how it works.

Meet the Fujifilm X-H1… Now also Top & Backside View

Fujifilm X-H1 Sketches

We already leaked the front of the Fujifilm X-H1 here.

Now the Japanese source finally shared also the Back and Top side of the camera.

This is no technical drawing, but a manual sketch, made quickly for us from our Japanese source, but you guys won’t really notice any relevant difference to the real camera, once we see the first pictures.

I would like to say a big thanks to the Japanese source and to all other source, who keep up helping me on FujiRumors. A virtual hug to all of them out there.

What we See

Please note that the viewfinder protrudes backwards. It is not that easy to see, due to the perspective of the sketches, but it’s basically a little block protruding from the back of the camera. It’s great to have a bit more distance between nose and screen ;).

For comparison, I show you also the X-T2, where the viewfinder is basically perfectly in line with the back of the camera.

Overall, the X-H1 looks like an X-T2 with a GFX handgrip.

There is the joystick, the Q button the very right of the camera and all the other buttons you already know from X-T2 and GFX. There is also AF-ON button.

New Size Comparison

There is also a new size comparison X-T2 Vs. X-H1 made by a FR-reader at our exploading X-H facebook group. Check it out below. In this size comparison it seems that the difference between X-T2 and X-H1 is a bit smaller than in the one we shared earlier.

Fujifilm X-H1: EVF with 30%+ Higher Resolution than X-T2!

This has to be one of the best rumor X-mas we ever had :)

While we are waiting for our trusted Japanese source to give us the top and back sketch of the Fujifilm X-H1, we can enjoy more specs :)

Earlier today we not only shared the first accurate sketch of the X-H1, but also the full 4K video specs here.

Now it’s time to talk about the viewfinder of the Fujifilm X-H1.

There will be huge increase in resolution of over 30%! And indeed, one of my major complaints with my X-T1 is that the viewfinder is actually too big for the resolution it offers. So I am very happy to hear that finally the X-H1 EVF received the resolution boost that also the X-T1 and X-T2 would need.

A very long list of rumored specs can be found below.

One of the biggest and never answered questions until right now was: will the Fujfilm X-H1 have full sensor readout at 4K?

Well, I have to tell you, that it will have the same 1.17x crop of the Fujiflm X-T2, and since it uses the same X Processor Pro of the X-T2 (as we reported first here on FR).

The full 4K specs are: 4K, 1.17x crop, 30p, 4:2:0 8 bit 200 Mbps (the X-T2 has 100 Mbps)

Fujifilm X-H1 Rumored Specs

Fujifilm X-H1 will have 5 Axis In Body Image Stabilization + 3 Way Tilt and Touch Screen of GFX

6 Months of Fujifilm X-H1 (IBIS) Rumors

Here on FujiRumors we started the Fujiflm IBIS camera rumor 6 months ago, in July 2017. And since then, the rumors just kept coming.

We have shared detailed specs, such as the Eterna film simulation, the lack of sensor shift multishot, the X-Processor Pro, the IBIS with full sensor readout, the internal F-Log and a lot more (see list below).

Until now, 99% of the rumors shared in our detailed specs list is still only rumored by FujiRumors, but I am confident that our friends at digicame-info, nokishita (who leaked the name X-H1) & Co will follow soon, and that they can confirm and integrate the rumored specs shared on FR.

Until then, I’ll do my best to share whatever I can. I admit it’s a long and hard rumor marathon, but the X-H1 is an exciting camera, so I’m highly motivated to find out and share more about it…

… and to answer 2 of your questions today :)

btw… keep up making questions. Sometimes I can forget to make specific questions to sources. So let me know in the comments what you would like me to ask, and I will see if I can find out the answer for you.

5 Axis IBIS

Some of you asked me via email if the X-H1 has 3 or 5 axis stabilization. I guess this comes because a Fuji manager said X-mount is not compatible with IBIS, so some of you are afraid it could be “only” 3 axis stabilization.

Well, the good news: it will be 5 axis in body image stabilization.

As reported earlier, it will have full sensor readout (no crop when IBIS is activated). It will lack of sensor shift and dual IS (OIS+IBIS), at least at the current firmware stage, but the IBIS only function will work just fine, don’t worry.

3 Way Tilt and Touch Screen

I received many questions via email, if the Fujifilm X-H1 will have a fully articulating screen.

Quick answer: nope! Same 3-way tilting screen of X-T2 and GFX.

It will also have a touch screen.

Fujifilm X-H1 Rumored Specs

Fujifilm X-H1 will use NP-W126S Battery of X-T2 + New Vertical Grip

Fujifilm X-H1

The Fujifilm X-H1 will use the same batteries of the X-T2 & co, the NP-W126S.

Given the X-H1 increase in size over the X-T2 (size comparison here), Fujifilm will also launch a new vertical grip.
