Fujifilm GFX100S is right now in stock at AmazonUS here. It’s a rare find, even 11 months after its annoucement.
The year is ending, the internet is flooded by “best and worst” articles and videos, and at some point of the ranking the Fujifilm GFX system always comes out on the very top positions.
It happened for example with DPRTV here (who gave tremendous praise to the Fujifilm GFX100S) and with BH Explora here, who ranked both, the GFX100S and the new GFX50SII in the top 10 mirrorless cameras list for 2021.
Now, nobody can predict the future in the long term. So if the GFX system will keep up rising or not remains an open question whose outcome will depend on many things.
But if we look back on how it all started with the GFX system and where the system is now, then we can surely say that Fujifilm has set some solid fundaments on which they could potentially build up something very special.
So, in order to honor the big GFX year that we just had, we celebrate today with a dedicated GFX roundup that you can find below.
GFX Gear Launched in 2021
In their usual very entertaining way, Chris and Jordan from DPRTV share their best and worst camera gear episode for 2021.
Instead of the best stills and hybrid camera categories (as they did last year), this year they axed the hybrid category and replaced it with the best video camera, which has been won by the DJI Ronin 4D. I wish they would have kept the hybrid category.
Also, there is not one overall best lens, but best lens for M4/3, APS-C and Full Frame. Medium Format is not contemplated in the lens options, so the stellar Fujinon GF80mm f/1.7 (which I use every now and then with very gratifying results) had no chance to participate to this years’ DPRTV selection.

Look, I own the Fujifilm GFX100S and I admire it. It stunns me over and over again. And if you want the best image quality, more then you could ever desire, then go for it. But as much as I admire it, I can’t fall in love with it as I do with my Fujifilm X gear, since it lacks of manual controls. To be clear, it is fast and stupidly easy to operate. But just not as fun. So Fuji, take the X-T form and function, and make a GFX out of it, pretty much like this prototype you’ve showen to us in the past.
And yet, it has captured some precious family memories at a quality I do not deserve :).

Fujifilm has released new firmware updates for the Fujifilm X100V, GFX100S and GFX50SII.
All details down below.

The new Iridient X-Transformer 2.0 release can be downloaded here.
This new X-Transformer release is a paid upgrade for users who are beyond the 18 month free upgrade period and last purchased a license prior to May 1, 2020. There is a 40% upgrade discount for all prior license holders and their original purchase order number can be used as a coupon code for the discount.
Fujifilm has published the financial results for the second quarter (ending September 30). A special mention goes to the Fujifilm GFX100S and Instax products.
You can find the summary down below.
A limited number of Fujifilm GFX100S cameras is now in stock at Adorama here. So far they always sold out rapidly and stores struggled to get back stock, so if you want one, it might be better to grab it right now.
As a happy owner of the Fujifilm GFX100S myself, I can only say that if when you press the shutter button, all you want is the best possible image quality, then look no further, the GFX100S is what will satisfy you. I only miss the X-T alike dials on it, which is why I am stunned, blown away and sincerely admire the GFX100S, but I can’t love it the same way I love my X-T4* and X-E3.
The situation looks much better for the Fujifilm GFX50SII, which is available pretty much everywhere.

*except for the selfie screen ;)
The Fujifilm GFX50S II is right now in stock at BHphoto here at AmazonUS here and at Adorama here and soon in both versions, body only here and with GF35-70 kit here.
If you want the GF35-70 lens only, that one will start shipping on November 30.
Another little good news, you can now find a few Fujifilm GFX100S cameras in stock at Moment here. Sadly nothing yet on BHphoto here and an overpriced GFX100S is sold at AmazonUS via third party.
Well, a little good news among all the epic delays tons of Fujifilm X and GFX gear is suffering right now.

Here is an updated in stock check for the gear Fujifilm announced in North America.
GFX100S
Adorama and Moment had a few samples in stock, but as to expect, they run out quickly. The next one to possibly have a few available should be Amazon, who expects stock by October 20 here.
GF80mmF1.7
It’s available at AmazonUS here, at BHphoto here and at Moment here. Not available at Adorama and Focuscamera.
GFX50SII
It was originally planed to ship by the end of September, but Fujifilm issued an official delivery delay notice for the GFX50SII with GF35-70 kit, so let’s see how this will change things.
So far all stores expect the body only version as well as the kit version to be available on October 21.
GF35-70mmF4.5-5.6
So far stores expect it to ship on November 30. Only Adorama is slightly more optimistic and gives us November 20 as shipping start.
X-E4
Currently available only at BHphoto here (black version).
XF70-300mmF4-5.6
It is back-ordered everywhere. The only time indications we get comes from Moment here, who expects to deliver by November 4.
XF27mmF2.8 R WR
Fujifilm announced it. But they can’t deliver. I consider myself lucky to be able to have grabbed one a few months ago, last sample in stock. Since then, nothing. Whoever ordered one, better be armed with lots patience. A patience that will be rewarded, as it is the perfect lens ;).
X-T30II
It is expected to ship on October 21. Adorama is more pessimistic and expects to deliver in January 2022.
XF 33mmF1.4 R LM WR
It was supposed to start shipping on September 29, but pre-orders are very high and forced Fujifilm to issue an official delivery delay notice. Now it is expected to ship on October 21 in North America. Oddly enough, in Europe it is shipping and in stock.
XF 23mmF1.4 R LM WR
It is expected to ship on November 30.
XF18mmF1.4 R LM WR
Good News. This one is in stock everywhere!

Earlier today Fujifilm dropped a bunch of firmware updates, some more substantial, some just bug fixes. You can see the full list here.
The biggest changes come for the Fujifilm GFX100S and Fujifilm GFX100, which get Blackmagic RAW support.
This required Fujifilm to update the Owner’s manuals for those two cameras.
But there are firmware updates also for Fujifilm X-T4, X-T3, X-H1, X-T30, X-E4, X-Pro3, X100V, Fujifilm GFX50S and Fujifilm GFX50R. Make sure to check out all the details and download the latest firmware at our dedicated article here.
And even though I am not into video with my Fujifilm GFX100S, I will update my camera anyway, because who knows what Fujifilm fixed with that “fix of minor bugs” phrase. Sometimes they fix major bugs actually.
Don’t ask me why they do it. It’s a great news if Fujifilm fixes a major bug. No need to hide it behind a generic “minor bug fix” phrase.
