Fujifilm X Summit Today 3 PM New York Time: What we Expect, What Not and We Hope

On February 4, at 3PM New York time, there will be the Fujifilm X Summit in London.

Of course there will be a live stream here on FujiRumors at:

  • NEW YORK – 3 PM of February 4
  • BERLIN – 9 PM of February 4

So what can we expect, what not, and what are our hopes? Let’s go through it:

WHAT WE EXPECT

We will definitely see the Fujifilm X100V coming. The first Fujifilm X100V leaked image is already out, and so are the full X100V specs, which for your convenience we have compared side by side with Fujfiilm X100F.

WHAT WE DON’T EXPECT

According to our sources, the final announcement, with full specs and pre-orders, for the Fujifilm X-T4 will be on February 26.

I don’t know, though, if there will be some sort of “Fujifilm X-T4 development announcement“, as it happened with the Fujifilm X-Pro3 back at the second Fujfiilm X Summit. So they could show us a Fujifilm X-T4 prototype, but don’t disclose any of the specs. That’s always a possibility.

Also, we don’t expect any Fujifilm GFX camera, as there will be none coming in 2020.

WHAT WE HOPE

Exactly one year after the first Fujifilm X summit in Dubai, where Fujifilm officially asked us which X lenses we want next in this survey, I think it would be high time to give us also a new roadmap. But I don’t know if there will be one. Or if they will wait for the Fujifilm X-T4 announcement to disclose it to the world.

Fujifilm Monochrome Camera Coming, Really?

Fujifilm Monochrome?

I have been contacted, asking to take position on a “rumor” shared by Ken on youtube.

The “rumor” says “Fujifilm is talking about monochrome”.

Now, I hate to be the one that takes away the hype, but just be careful.

Fujifilm has regular meetings, and “talks” just about everything.

In fact, I hear these monochrome “talks” since at least half a decade now.

For example, a Fujifilm manager publicly said back in 2016, that they thought about developing a monochrome camera.

Not only. Fujifilm talks about monochrome and much more. Ideas, concepts and what not. Some become real, others not, others change.

So, take a grain of salt. At the end it’s the same source, who said about the Samsung 28MP Fujifilm X-T3 sensor… so be careful with some rumors.

What we want to know, is if Fujifilm decided to make a monochrome camera.

And looking at the survey below, you guys would love to see a monochrome camera.

Fujifilm X-T4: Tilt Screen Clarification and Survey on Which Selfie Screen you Prefer

Ok, this is a mandatory clarification.

The original rumor of a Fujifilm X-T4 with tilt screen was shared by J. at our X-T facebook group here. I also talked to J., and he confirmed it. And as here on FR we don’t need and don’t like it to take other rumors and sell them as our own, we are happy to quote J.

But here is the point:

J. said the tilt screen will be like the one of the Panasonic S1H.

But I noticed a tendecy on the web, to attribute to FR also the S1H alike rumor.

So I just want to clarify, that all FujiRumors sources told us only about a “selfie flippy screen”, but not which kind of selfie screen it will be. Will it be like on the Fujifilm X-T200, or like on Fujifilm X-T100, or like on the Panasonic S1H? At this point, we do not know. We just know vloggers will be happy about it :).

I thought I need to set this right, as I don’t want any reader to be mislead here.

For us, this post is also a welcome opportunity to ask you, which selfie flippy screen do you prefer, X-T200, X-T100 or Panasonic S1H? Vote down below.

And… for the real Fujifilm addicts out there:

And yes… there will be a new battery, don’t worry about that ;).

SEE THE VIDEOS AND VOTE

Down below are three videos, they all start at the point, where you see the screen in action.

  • X-T100 screen: tiltable up and down still centered to camera body. You can flip it out in selfie mode
  • X-T200 screen: classic fully articulating screen. If you want to tilt up or down, you must move it out all the way on the side of the camera. No longer centered. But you can flip it inwards, to protect the screen
  • S1H screen: You can tilt it down still centered to the camera. And fully articulates when moved out on the side of the camera. You can flip it inwards towards camera body, for protection. It has a more bulky design, but allows to move the screen more away from the camera, potentially keeping it more far away from the cables you might have attached on the side of the camera body

My favorite selfie screen is:

Fujifilm X-T4

We want to start this rumor, by giving credit, where credit really belongs.

Hence, credit goes to J. from our fantastic X-T group, as he was the very first to tell to the Fujifilm world about the Fujifilm X-T4 with selfie flippy screen back on November 21, 2019 here. J. wrote:

fully articulating flippy…essentially a Panasonic S1H but APS-C with Fuji color and obviously much smaller

Well, FujiRumors made its checks (also thanks to new sources!), and we can now confirm that the Fujifilm X-T4 will indeed have a flippy screen.

Top X-T Community: Fujifilm X-T facebook group
Top X-T Page: Fujifilm X-T Page

If that’s a good news or not, feel free to let us know in the survey down below.

And what else did J. tell us about the Fujifilm X-T4? Well, here is the rest of his list:

  • X-T4 with IBIS
  • expect a T4 about 1/3 of an inch thicker, and about 5-6oz heavier
  • On a good note expect 6k60 and 10bit internal
  • anamorphic ratio
  • release end of 2020
  • X-H line most likely canceled

The Fujifilm X-T4 release end of 2020 is not correct. The official Fuji X-T4 announcement is set for February 26. And as we hear from our sources (and top Fujifilm managers confirm), the Fujifilm X-H2 is still on the roadmap, but not for 2020.

But J. got the IBIS right and the selfie screen. And it’s objectively not easy to get long term rumors right, as Fujifilm is prone to plan changes. So what J. told us might have been correct at the time of sharing, but could be partially no longer valid now.

So, we keep up working, and will try to deliver you more rumors in the next few days and weeks. Stay tuned.

Inside the Fujifilm Factory with Lok: Assemblling the Fujifilm GFX100 and the Discontinued Fujifilm X-H1

Lok brings you inside the Fujifilm factory in Sendai, Japan.

The first thing he shows, is part of the assembly of the Fujifilm GFX100. Lok is surprised to see that so much of the assembly is done by hand.

You also see how meticulously every smallest dust particle is removed from the sensor and the lenses.

Lok then tries to apply the rubber texture to a Fujifilm X-H1, but what looks easy in skilled hands, turns out to much more difficult to do if you are not trained for it.

And if you wonder, why a Fujifilm X-H1, well, I believe the tour dates back to May/June 2019, when we already shared a couple of similar Fujifilm Sendai factory tour videos.

At that time, Fujifilm only stopped selling Fujifilm X-H1 body only, but they where still producing it, since it had a big revival pushed by the Fujifilm X-H1 + vertical grip combo deals.

Here on FujiRumors, the Fujifilm X-H1 even beat the Fujifilm X-T3 in terms of overall 2019 sales, thanks to this deal.

The production of Fujifilm X-H1 probably only ended in the second half of 2019.

You can see the full factory tour video below.

Fujifilm X-Pro3 Firmware Update 1.02 Visible but Not Available

FR-reader Lars contacted me and wrote:

Today I got my X-Pro3 back from Fuji Service with a new firmware update vers. 1.02. That update was actually released already on 16. January regarding the Fuji Website. But when you click on it you go to the vers. 1.01 that was released in December and the file is the same too.

I did check, and indeed, on the firmware list page, Fujifilm mentiones X-Pro3 firmware 1.02 as released on January 16. As you can see from the screenshot above, it says:

The phenomenon that in rare cases, a freeze could occur is fixed

But once you click and enter on the X-Pro3 firmware download page here, all you see is firmware 1.01.

My guess? Fujifilm will release another firmware update, maybe ver.1.1, which will incorporate the bug fixed with 1.02 as well as other issues.

New Fujinon G Mount Roadmap

Fujifilm announced a new Fujinon G Mount roadmap with the following lenses

(1) Large-diameter standard lens “FUJINON Lens GF80mmF1.7 R WR”

  • The lens with the focal length of 80mm (equivalent to 63mm in the 35mm film format) and the maximum aperture of F1.7 is the brightest*** interchangeable lens for mirrorless digital cameras equipped with a large format sensor. It enables portraiture shooting with beautiful and creamy bokeh even in low light conditions.
  • It boasts astonishing image quality comparable to the professionally-acclaimed large diameter mid-telephoto lens “FUJINON Lens GF110mmF2 R LM WR,” but offers an even wide angle of view with a compact and lightweight body.

(2) Wide-angle prime lens “FUJINON Lens GF30mmF3.5 R WR”

  • The lens with the focal length of 30mm (equivalent to 24mm in the 35mm film format) is perfect for landscape photography. Offering ultra-high resolution capability despite its compact and lightweight body, the lens can bring out the full potential of the 102MP image sensor used in the GFX100.
