Fujifilm GFX100 Successor about the Size of GFX100S but With Angled Top Plate

We already told you that the Fujifilm GFX100 successor will no longer have an integrated battery grip, but come with an optional battery grip.

The main benefit of this decision made by Fujifilm is that it will be considerably smaller than the current GFX100.

In fact, according to our trusted sources, the Fujifilm GFX100 replacement will have about the same size of the Fujifilm GFX100S.

But to be clear: it won’t have exactly the size of the GFX100S nor use the same body shared by the Fujifilm GFX100S and GFX50SII.

In fact, it will be a new body with an interesting design choice: according to our sources, it will have an angled top plate. Don’t ask me more about it because “angled top plate” is all I know, too.

RUMOR: Fujifilm GFX100 Replacement Coming with New Sensor

It’s coming.

Fujifilm officially announced the Fujifilm X Summit on September 12.

We told you about it already in early July while I was on holiday in one of the most beautiful towns on the entire Mediterrenean sea (visted this year also by Russel Crowe).

And while a few days later I was driving home and stopped in one of the most enchanting regions of Italy, I told you that Fujifilm would announce the Fujifilm GFX100 successor on that day.

Of course the big guessing started about the GFX100 successor. And we were able to share a few specs already:

But one of the most urgent questions is: which sensor will it use?

The hottest speculation floating around is that it will use the current 100MP sensor in use on the Fujifilm GFX100 and GFX100S boosted by the power of the new X Processor 5.

But our sources tell us that’s wrong.

According to our trusted sources, the Fujifilm GFX100 replacement will not use the sensor currently in use on the GFX100 and GFX100S.

That’s 100% sure, super-trusted and rocksolid.

Time has come for the GFX system to get a new sensor!

But what could it be?

Just follow FujiRumors and you’ll find out soon enough ;).

Fujifilm GFX100 Replacement Coming with Detachable Battery Grip

The Fujifilm GFX100 replacement is coming to end the moaning ;).

Let me explain.

When Fujifilm launched the original GFX100, it camera with an integrated battery grip.

This was welcome for those photographers, who love operating cameras with battery grips, but many others would have preferred a smaller camera without the built-in grip.

So Fujifilm launch the glorious Fujifilm GFX100S without battery grip.

But then the moaning started again, because that camera had no battery grip option at all.

And here comes the good news that will make everybody happy (maybe).

The Fujifilm GFX100 replacement will come with a detachable battery grip. Best of both worlds with the maximum flexibility.

Fujifilm X Summit September 12 with GFX100 Successor and 3 GF Lenses Coming (And More?)

Fujifilm has officially announced the Fujifilm X Summit for September 12 (which for FujiRumors readers is boring old news ;)).

Well, according to our sources, we will get for sure at least the following gear on that day:

So there will be lots of love for the Fujifilm GFX system, which addresses one of my main complaints after the last X summit in May.

But the above gear is only what we will get for sure.

Fujifilm could easily launch more cameras and lenses, as well as treat us with surprises (as they always do on X summits).

So, no matter what the state of the leaks will be, make sure to stay tuned on FujIRumors on September 12, because we are going to have lots of fun.

Fujinon GF50mmF3.5 Firmware Still Suspended

Suspended Firmware

Back on April 27, Fujifilm released firmware updates for lots X and GFX lenses (plus some cameras).

Among them there was firmware 1.10 for the Fujinon GF50mmF3.5 with some welcome improvements.

However, at some point Fujifilm removed the firmware and said:

It has been confirmed that there are some rare cases where the upgrade process fails with Ver. 1.10 released on April 27, 2023. For this reason, we have just removed the download button for this version here. We will resume the download button as soon as a fix is ready.

Customers who have successfully upgraded this firmware can continue to use the product.

Since then, nothing happened and the firmware is still suspended.

As an owner of the Fujinon GF50mmF3.5 myself, I just share this friendly reminder to Fujifilm that there is this suspended firmware and that we would really appreciate if they’d fix it… just in case Fuji forgot about it.

The Future of Fujifilm in Patents: Full Frame Lenses Coming, X100 with 20mmF2 lens, Foldable Fuji Smartphone and More

The Future of Fujifilm in Patents

Why Fujifilm?

Why?

Why are you doing this?

There is no need for one, totally wasted R&D.

These lenses make no sense!

That’s how some of the comments sounded on my various platforms after I have published the latest patents of the XF56mmF1.7 and re-designed XF18mmF1.4.

And these comments came after I warned you in the article that in 11+ years of blogging I have never seen a patent actually become a real product.

And despite my repeated warnings, some people keep taking those patents as an indication of what’s really coming next from Fujifilm.

But if it was really like this… I mean, if patents would really show us the way that Fujifilm is taking, then where are:

So, even though I feel a bit like Don Quixote fighting the windmills, I will give it another try today.

But I’ll take a different approach this time.

Because, well aware that a good number of people don’t go beyond the headline, I decided to create a headline that shows how absurd it is to put any trust in these patents. And hopefully, this will motivate people to look deeper into this subject.

And how do we look deeper into it?

Well, in this article we look at the 67 patents FujiRumors has shared starting from our first one posted back in 2012 until the latest one here.

Give them a look, and then make up your own mind if you should take patents as solid indications of future products.

Third Party Lenses (Manual + Autofocus) – How Popular Are They Really? – VOTE NOW (X Mount Edition)

I have recently launched a survey, where I ask you which autofocus X mount lenses you own (Fujinon and Third Party).

But some pointed out that there are also lots of third party manual focus X mount lenses that they own for the X system. Or they adapt AF lenses via smart adapters. Or they have dummy adapters for MF lenses.

Now, your wish was that I’d somehow include those lenses in the survey too.

So I thought we could investigate this with a new survey that includes the following options:

  • Fujinon XF/XC lenses
  • X mount third party autofocus X lenses (from Viltrox, Sigma, Tamron & Co)
  • X mount third party manual focus lenses
  • adapted manual focus lenses
  • adapted autofocus lenses (using smart AF adapters from Fringer & Co)

Tick the boxes in case you own any lens that falls into one of these categories.

I will launch the same survey also for the G mount system, so we can compare the results and see if there are significant differences. I mean, there certainly will be, as there are no third party autofocus lenses for the G mount. And I have the feeling the number of adapted manual focus lenses will be very high compared to the X mount system. But we will be able to compare it later.

Let’s start with the X mount. You’ll find the survey down below.
