Fujifilm Specific Capture One Webinar Tomorrow 11 AM New York Time

Capture One has recently made some significant steps forward to what belongs Fujifilm support. For example, they added Fujifilm compressed RAW support, OpenCL is now also supported by X-trans files and more – Full list in this article

But frankly, there is still room for improvement.

For example, still no film simultion support (but you can find a great homebrew at the fuji-x-forum) and no Fujifilm GFX 50s support.

The news today?

There will be a dedicated Fujifilm Capture One webinar tomorrow, July 6, 2017, with Fujifilm X-photographer Eivind Røhne. So sign up here and tune in at 11 AM New York time (5 PM Berlin Time).

I’m currently a Iridient / Adobe user. But I have to admit that I’m thinking to switch to Capture One (from Adobe). But before switching, I want Capture One to finally offer full X-Trans support.

Now, since this summer I have no major trips plans (except my recent 1 week journey in wonderful South Italy) I will spend a lot of time hiking on my local mountains. So I have a little tour planed for tomorrow (with my trusty easy to use Camslinger Cosyspeed bag, as you can see in the video below). But if the weather will turn bad tomorrow, I’ll definitely tune into the Capture One webinar… maybe they can convince me to make the switch from Adobe.

And if weather is great, and I can’t see the Capture One webinar, well, then maybe some of you guys can drop a few comments to this post about the webinar… I’ll be happy to check them out when I’m back.

Capture One Will Support Fujifilm GFX (New Source) :: Phase One Says Not Enough Requests for Fujifilm Film Simulation Support

THE RUMOR

Hey guys,

I had quite a long chat with a new source. I’ll bring to the point:

Phase One will add support for Fujifilm GFX 50s in Capture One Pro.

There is a bit of confusion on th C1 GFX support topic, because:

  • December 30, 2016: Phase One Support says Capture One won’t support the Fujifilm GFX: “It’s a direct competitor of our core business.” (stroy here)
  • January 5, 2017: PhaseOne managment corrects: “Fujifilm GFX support? We have not yet decided. It depends on the GFX Market impact” (stroy here)
  • February 17, 2017: During a Zack Arias live talk, a Fuji Rep says to Zack Arias, that there will be Capture One support for Fujifilm GFX (story here)

So, there is hope.

And maybe the recent Capture One 10.1 update, which finally introduced some significant X-Trans support improvments, could be a sign that Phase One is finally working with more dedication to support Fujifilm cameras.

  • Capture One Pro 10.1 Released: Improved Fujifilm X-Trans support, X-T20, XQ2 and X-A10 support & more (more here)

Oh… and how could I forget that…. grain of salt, of course, fellow Fuji Shooters ;)

FujiRumors Talk with Phase One Manager

I had the opportunity to quickly chat with a Phase One manager.

I asked about GFX support, and of course he couldn’t give me any answer, since he said that “especially regarding the GFX we don’t pre release any forthcoming support“. To me, this sounds already better than… let’s say… “we currently have no plans for GFX support“. :)

I also asked about Fujifilm film simulation support, and the Manager said that it depends on market demand. “We don’t get so many requests for it – at least officially.  Best thing to do is for Fuji users to log it at phaseone.com/support.”

So what are your waiting for? Drop them an email :)

cheers

Two More Fujifilm Cameras Registered in China… probably Fujifilm X100F and X-T20!

Bug Fix Firmware

camera2

Fujifilm registered two more cameras at the Chinese MIIT.

Fujifilm used code names, but these are very likely the Fujifilm X100F (all rumors here) and X-T20 (all rumors here), which I already told you won’t come this year, since the last X-series camera to come in 2016 will be the Fujifilm X-A10.  The site nokishita says they will probably in spring.

One thing is sure… 2017 is going to have a hot Fuji start, with the X100F, X-T20 and Fujfilm GFX ready to be launched. And if I look at the lens roadmap, then I’d say it’s high time for a new one, too.

And I also won’t stop dreaming of this camera ;)

enjoy your weekend,

Fujinon XF50mmF2 WR to be Announced along with X-A10 in November – POLL

50mmf2

Fujinon XF50mmF2 WR

According to a trusted source (thanks), Fujiiflm will announce the Fujinon XF50mmF2 WR along with the Fuji X-A10 in November.

The XF50mmF2 WR will be the third compact weather resistant F2 lens after the XF35mmF2 WR and the XF23mmF2 WR.

It’s a well known fact, that the XF35mmF2 WR is a terrific success for Fujifilm. Also the XF23mmF2 WR seems to sell like hot cakes now… and I wouldn’t be surprised if also the XF50mmF2 WR turns out to be a winner, too.

The other, long rumored lenses, like the XF33mmF1.0, XF8-16mmF2.8 WR and XF200mmF2 (or F2.8) have all been postponed, since Fujifilm wanted to focus on the small and compact F2 trinity + the 80mmF2.8 OIS WR (which replaced the 120mmF2.8 that was in the original roadmap).

And while I get it why people love those small weather sealed F2 guys so much, I hope that in 2017 Fujifilm will catch up were they dropped plans many months ago, and work again on the 33/1, 8-16/2.8 and 200mm…. would love to see them all coming in 2017…. but my personal favorite would be… the… ok, I said it in the Poll below ;)

have a Great day,

Where is the XC 15-45 Lens Compatibility for older X cameras? Digital Rev X-A5 with XC15-45 Review – UPDATE

Fujifilm X-A5 and XC15-45 Review

First off, Digital Rev just shared their Fujifilm X-A5 and XC 15-45 Hands-on Review.

Regarding the camera they say it feels plasticy. No surprise, though, and also no dealbreaker, since the X-A camera line sells better than any other camera brand in some Asian countries (yes, even better than Canon, Sony and Nikon).

They also talk about the Fujinon XC 15-45, and complaint about its performance in video mode.

And yet… the X-A5 (whose development has been outsourced by Fujifilm), will again sell strong.

XC 15-45 Support for Older Cameras

NOTE: According to Rico Pfirstinger, all cameras are full compatible with the XC15-45 and no compatiblity update is needed

NOTE 2: The Fujifilm X-A3 and X-A20 got a firmware udpate for full compatibiliy with XC 15-45. Such an update is still missing for the X-A2, which has the same flippy screen of X-A5. I get requests by readers owning the X-A2 for Fujifilm to add support for it.

Until today, Fujifilm always did it like this: shortly before or right at the day of the official release of a new lens, Fujifilm delivered a firmware update to add lens compatibility to Fujifilm cameras.

However, the last updates back in February 2018 just added XC15-45 support for Fujifilm X-A10 and X-A3.

Now the camera is shipping and falling into hands of X-shooters worldwide… and still, I can’t see any new update at Fuji’s site.

Now, I assume that newer cameras come already with the proper firmware support for this lens, but what about older cameras? Believe it or not, dear Fujifilm, there are X-shooters out there who still own and use older cameras (like me with my X-T1), and we would like our cameras to support this lens too.

I hope Fujifilm will deliver soon a firmware compatibility update, and if not, then we would like an official statement where you tell us which cameras will support this lens and which ones not.

So guys, you know FujiRumors is Fujifilm’s by far favorite place for online feedback… so if you would like to see XC15-45 support also for your camera, then let Fujifilm know in the comments.

Fujinon GF50mmF3.5 Firmware Still Suspended

Suspended Firmware

Back on April 27, Fujifilm released firmware updates for lots X and GFX lenses (plus some cameras).

Among them there was firmware 1.10 for the Fujinon GF50mmF3.5 with some welcome improvements.

However, at some point Fujifilm removed the firmware and said:

It has been confirmed that there are some rare cases where the upgrade process fails with Ver. 1.10 released on April 27, 2023. For this reason, we have just removed the download button for this version here. We will resume the download button as soon as a fix is ready.

Customers who have successfully upgraded this firmware can continue to use the product.

Since then, nothing happened and the firmware is still suspended.

As an owner of the Fujinon GF50mmF3.5 myself, I just share this friendly reminder to Fujifilm that there is this suspended firmware and that we would really appreciate if they’d fix it… just in case Fuji forgot about it.
